Adaptation (Superbit Collection) - movie DVD cover picture
Is it real? Or just halfway real?

First of all, I think this movie is absolutely brilliant. It's unlike anything I've ever seen which is unsurprising since Kauffman and Jonze's previous film, "Being John Malkovich" invoked similar emotions.
So it's the story of Charlie Kauffman (real guy) attempting to write an adapted screenplay of a book called "The Orchid Theif" (real book). Throughout the movie, Kauffman is convinced to instead write the screenplay about himself attempting to write the adaptation rather than writing the adaptation itself. Which turns out to be the movie that you're watching. As far as I can tell, the real Charlie Kauffman had actually attempted to write the film adaptation for the Orchid Theif, but after consistant writer's block, he wrote the film Adaptation with him as the lead. But what about the last third of the movie? I think the real Kauffman might have heeded the advice given to the fake Kauffman in the movie, "Plot doesn't matter as long as you 'wow' the audience in the end." I think this gave the real Kauffman inspiration on how to end his 'true story' with fictional events. It's nerve-racking, I know. But it's so brilliant I couldn't help but love every minute of it.

Love is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon - movie DVD cover picture
To either love or hate as a film

The question is whether you're viewing this as a lover of Bacon's work or to enjoy what is simply a fascinating cult film in itself. A few of the intermittant shots are not the most original and the storyline might not be to all tastes, but the Jacobi-Craig clash and borderline humour of supporting characters combine for some wonderfully twisted dialogue that brings it alive! If you're aware that none of Bacon's work is on offer, and appreciate tongue-in-cheek humour of it's darkest type then you will love this film.

Sex and Lucia (R-Rated Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Paz Vega is stunning beyond belief

This is a film with an interesting, time-shifting plot, fine acting from the aggregate cast and great land and seascapes, but what really makes it with this film is the amazing Paz Vega, who plays Lucia, a waitress who falls for Lorenzo, a writer, played by Tristan Ulloa, who himself has fathered a child in a hot one night stand on a small unnamed island with Elena (Najwa Nimri) and who also falls for the nanny of his child (unbeknownst to Elena/Nimri), Belen, played by Elena Anaya.

Both Nimri and Anaya are very beautiful and sensual women who play their roles very well, but it is Paz Vega that you can't take your eyes off of in this film. Aside from her outward physical beauty, she plays the role with such depth of feeling, that is truly special and unique.

The film's slightly surreal quality adds to it's appeal. With regard to the other players, Tristan Ulloa as Lorenzo, the writer who can't seem to help but run into beautiful women. Ulloa helps the film in that he conveys the feelings a man has when he is with the right woman and everything is in sync, so to speak, in the sexual sense. Daniel Friere plays the roles of Antonio/Carlos, the lover of Belen's ex-porn star mother, who has adopted the alter ego of Carlos, and is running away from life as are Elena and later Lucia, to the island where the child of Elena and Lorenzo, Luna, was conceived. There is an accident involving Luna, Belen and Lorenzo which I won't reveal here, but plays a big role in the resolution of the plot. Javier Camara plays Pepe, Lorenzo's literary agent and friend and Diana Suarez plays Manuela Lozano, the ex-porn star mother of Belen.

All in all, it's a timeless film of great beauty, which is based on the sexual and sensual interplay between the characters. It is very, very good and if you're somewhat sensitive to graphic sexuality, however brief, then you probably should go for the R rated version, because this film doesn't pull any punches. Nor should it, because it would take away from the experience of it.

But after the film is over, it is Paz Vega who stays in your mind. I hope to see much more of her in film in the coming years. She has a charismatic and sensual power that is a true gift. It's in the eyes, I think, and she is able to bare her sould through those eyes. And there, you can see the entire universe.

08th MS Team Rocks!

How could you not like this series? If you were weaned on Cartoon Network's Gundam Wing series as your first Gundam, I'm very sorry. Wing is the black sheep of the series. If you've seen any of the other Gundam series, then you will instantly love this one. Great characters, som very funny moments, awesome storyline, and not to mention the beautiful artwork done on this series. The only bad part is that this series is very short and the extras on the DVD are slim. In the end, it will leave you very satisfied.

The Last of the Mohicans - movie DVD cover picture

This is a great period film that has much to teach us about how to live today. The hunting scene in the first five minutes is not only dramatic and beautiful but also teaches respect for all living things. The film highlights how important it is to understand and cooperate with people of other cultures, and relays a great appreciation for the Indian peoples who lived on the North American continent for thousands of years without harming the environment. Throw in a sweeping love story, gorgeous scenery, and memorable as well as delightful music and you have a movie that one will want to watch often. We have the soundtrack on CD and it is a family favorite.

Pulp Fiction - movie DVD cover picture
The Most Fun You'll Have Watching A Movie!!

From the beginning five minutes of two people planning on holding up a diner, you know you're in for some fun. This is Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino's undisputed masterpiece. Simply put, a genius rollercoast ride from beginning to end. With a large list of stars, including Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Bruce Willis and Uma Thurman in some of their greatest performances to date.
The movie is broken up into three stories, all revolving around two hitmen (Jackson, Travolta), a mob boss's wife (Thurman), a boxer planing on retiring (Willis), and a mysterious breifcase, this fast paced film is probably one of the greatest action films EVER. The dialogue is what you would expect from Tarantino, with plenty of funny but memorable lines that you will remember forever.
With a die-hard cast, a chaotic but focused storyline, and an unbelievable soundtrack, including the classic "Miserlou" by Dick Dale and the Del-Tones, this film is definately Tarantino's funniest, most violent, and most fun romp to date, and one of the top ten greatest films ever! See it and you will not regret it.

Kathy Smith - Kickboxing Workout - movie DVD cover picture
This is a very fun and motivating workout!

Since I workout every day, I have a tendancy to get bored with the same old routine. So, I vary my workout in three-day chunks to keep myself interested and motivated. This summer, I have been walking, performing pilates and have just recently added the kickboxing workout to replace step aerobics. In over ten years of working out, I have NEVER HAD SO MUCH FUN or RELIEVED SO MUCH STRESS as I have with this workout! This video is definitely for ANYONE who needs to rejuvinate their workout routine! I love it and can't wait to start the AEROBOX tape when I'm ready!

Exellent movie

I'm a 15 years old guy, and I really liked this movie. I highly recommend it to all guys on the gay community and also I recommend it to people that want to understand how we feel when other people discriminate against us. I think this movie is very realistic and shows the problems we have to pass through because of people who discriminate against homosexuals.

This movie main actor is a teenager in England, who realized he was gay since early in his childhood. While developing, the only way he could get to meet other gay guys on his town was by picking up guys on some nasty public bathrooms. This guy has a best friend that is the only close person he has that knows about his sexuality and doesn't judge him by that; it is his neighbor an overweight girl.

Through this movie you'll see that Steven (the main actor) casually get to talk to an athlete guy, one of the most desired senior, and while they talk Steve confesses about his sexuality, and the other guy keeps talking to him justifying his interest by saying he is intrigued. The fact is that they end up together, but the senior guy wants it to be a secret, he wants to continue in the closet.

After many problems, Steve finally realize that he can't continue this relationship the way it is because it's too hard for them to actually talk while trying to hide from everyone the fact that they are in love.

This movie will intrigue you completely, I was breathless when I saw it, and I still love that movie. You might see it whenever you are a GLBT or not. It is very realistic in showing the difficulties we pass through in our development.

Thief and the Cobbler - movie DVD cover picture

..I first encountered this movie when I went to my friend's dorm room to get some food, my other friend came with me and the tv was on when we got there. he flipped the channel and there was a tripped out cartoon flashing before us. Our excursion should have taken five minutes but we got [pulled] in to the vibrant colors and fluid animations. This movie is, in my opinion, in the same category as the beatles movie, the yellow submarine. It is something different and not everyone will like it, but if you are an animation/cartoon fan, you should find this movie very refreshing. Some of the songs are corny, but it ads to the flavor of the movie, all in all this is the best cartoon feature i have seen in a long time. I am amazed it is a Disney movie. everyone should own this movie, go, go now and buy it!
