Incredible, best sci-fi I've seen

The Matrix is hands down the best movie to see this year. The special effects are amazing and the story line is unmatched. If you like movies that throw twists at you you will love this movie. There are not enough stars to give this one!!!

THe Most Poetic Screenplay I've Ever Seen

As a poet, I'm very much into the way language is expressed. You don't find a lot of that in mainstream cinema, and especially not on TV.

Except on HBO.

Whatever your views may be about AIDS, issues aside, the way the characters in the film express themselves is a work of art in itself, walking the fine line of stylish expression, without going over the heads of the common man.

I want to see more intelligently written pictures like this on the big screen.

Not Meant To Be A Typical Werewolf Movie More A Social Commentary

I love and will always this movie The Wolves of Kromer ~ Will Gould (III). The Wolves of Kromer is now the movie I like most of all in life. Don't buy this movie expecting your typical horror gore bloodfest because this movie does not even try to go there. This movie addresses gay social issues, homophobia all the attendant ignorance amd hate it spawns. Wolves and werewolves are more a recurring methaphor in the movie than fact. Yes the script and story line could have used some tightening up. Yes the pace was too slow and the people were a little bit too one demensional but none of that took away from the underlying power messages about how stupid homophobia is this movie sent on many levels. Yes there could have been more action and better character development and I would agree the movie had more than its share of flaws and bad production values but, I suggest the sheer power of its political message delivered using the Wolf \ Werewolf metaphor was artistic genius and more than makes up for any cinematic lapses in style and quality in other areas.

I usually hate movies that come to a tragic end but The Wolves of Kromer end's with a healthy degree of tragic irony that effectively drives the whole point of the movie home in a way worthy of the best hollywood has to offer. I watched this movie not expecting too much and ended up getting my eyes opened and my heart stolen. I can tell you now The Wolves of Kromer is a movie you can only understand completely if you have struggled with gay issues in your own life. The Wolves of Kromer makes perfect sense if you dealt with your own gay issues. I think The Wolves of Kromer is perhaps the only movie that has ever so effectively touched my heart. I know most people will not agree with me about the awesomeness of The Wolves of Kromer but honestly I do not care. I call them as I see them and move on! I am happy I brought this movie it is prized in my vast DVD collection.

Yes, we all know the story...but Mel Gibson does such a wonderful job of making us feel as though we were there and how incredible a time it was. By far the most moving film I have ever seen.

Penn And Sarandon In A Classic

I am a big fan of Shaun Penn- have been since "Fast Times", and here he gives the performance of his career as the titled "Dead Man". He is a death row inmate, at first shows no sign of remorse. He meets a Nun, played by Susan Sarandon, who I loved since "Bull Durham" (the BEST baseball film!) and she shows him that he has a conscience after all.
The film teaches a lot about the inhumanity of the Death Penalty and gives us two master performances. This is the best movie!

Ghostbusters Excitement

Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the script, but Bill Murray gets all the best lines and moments in this 1984 comedy directed by Ivan Reitman (Meatballs). The three comics, plus Ernie Hudson, play the New York City-based team that provides supernatural pest control, and Sigourney Weaver is the love interest possessed by an ancient demon. Reitman and company are full of original ideas about hobgoblins--who knew they could "slime" people with green plasma goo?--but hovering above the plot is Murray's patented ironic view of all the action.

Did someone say American independent cinema?

Brilliance can only describe Donnie Darko. Every aspect of this film from the direction to the score is unbelievable. I loved it so much, I saw it 5 times at the cinema, in its extremely narrow and short release in Australia. The cinematic experience of Donnie Darko is incomparable, however multiple DVD viewing is essential. I have never seen so many extras pakced onto one disk! I don't usually bother with extras, but the extended and deleted scenes add immensely to this complex fantasy, which I think could have all easily been left in the full feature. I can't wait to see what Richard Kelly follows his amazing debut feature with.
