I loved it. It was pure entertainment.

This movie is the kind of thing that lets you escape into a fantasy world of long ago. The stunts were excellent. The scenery was beautiful. The battle scene between the two pirate ships was so realistic. There are plenty of action scenes and the conflict between good and evil is classic. This movie makes me feel good every time I see it, and I have seen it 7 times to date. If you are a fan of swashbuckling movies and have a love for the legends of pirates, I highly recommend this movie. Genna Davis as Mogan Adams was totaly sexy and I must say, she could pilage my treasure anytime.

Fraggle Rock DVD

I'm sure i'm not the only one who couldn't wait to see Fraggle Rock on DVD. It's still not a complete season but we'll take what we can get. On this particular Dvd as it mentions above it features the episodes:
1.Boober Gorg
2.Blanket of Snow/Blanket of Woe
3.Inspector Red.

Other fun fraggle features not mentioned: a look into different ways Doc and Sprocket are seen around the world, Fraggle-oke Featuring the songs "I'm a little Stew Pot" and "Blanket of Snow, Blanket of Woe," and a trivia game that unlocks the episode "Home is where the trash is," featuring the oh so evil villian wander mcmooch.

You also might recall a fraggle rock animated series that sometimes would show up on Disney channel. An episode from that is also included where boober convinces everyone to leave Fraggle Rock.

A Non Fraggle Feature is a short claymation film called Pingu, about a family of penguins. I found it to be a fun surprise to be included.

This Dvd really doesn't skip out on content so have fun watching the episodes like you remembered them. If you've never seen the show I'm sorry for using such cryptic language. If you Enjoy Music and Adventure your sure to love this dvd. It's truly for the kid in all of us.

One of the Greatest Celestial Movies from Great Britain

David Niven plays a dashing young pilot, Peter Carter who is about to die. His plane is on fire and he doesn't have a parachute. Rather than burn to death he opts to leap from the plane and meet his death less painfully. However fate steps in and he is miraculously given a second chance at life. A second chance that is unfortunately not sanctioned by the Powers that Be. The story follows Niven as he falls in love with the young American girl June (Kim Hunter at her best) who spoke to him just before he was supposed to "die" and his relationship with those on the other side of life who tell him that his survival was a mistake and he has to meet his maker whether he likes it or not. What happens next is a wonderful combination of drama, humour and a smattering of science-fiction, as Peter tries to reason with those that are trying to claim his soul. Dr Reeves, a friend of June's (another brilliant piece of casting in the form of Roger Livesey, doesn't he have the most amazing voice?) realizes that Peter has suffered a form of rare brain damage that can only be cured on the operating table. But Peter has a trial to attend, and whether it is real or in his mind it has to go ahead, and he has to find someone on the other side to defend him. Poignant, haunting and beautifully acted this film is a superb creation born out of time. The scenes in the "other world" all filmed in black and white are quite breath-taking and for its day it displayed a surprising understanding of the human race in the form of the people it showed living side by side in heaven. Sikhs, and Black Americans being the first two that spring to mind. In a nutshell I loved this film. It was wonderfully funny in parts, especially when Conductor 71 (the Angel who missed Peter's soul because of the English fog) constantly made a plethora of delicious of quips throughout the film that were rib tickingly funny. This is another David Niven classic of the highest quality which was released in the UK under the title of "A Matter of Life and Death." It's also available on DVD in the UK and if you have a multi-regional player it's worth investing in as it has transferred to compact disc exceedingly well unlike many films.

Finally a funny movie

I rented this movie thinking that it would be pretty stupid. Man, was I suprised. I laughed so hard for 90 minutes, it took another 90 to catch my breath. I went out and bought this movie the very next day and have watched probably too many times but it hasn't lost a thing. In a time where everyone is worried about being P.C., it's nice to see a truely funny movie. I am sure not everyone will like this but if you enjoy goofy slapstick type comedy, I would HIGHLY suggest this movie.

Happy Gilmore - movie DVD cover picture
Mindless and very entertaining fun!

Adam Sandler is one of the best comedians of the 1990s and it is easy to see why in this totally hillarious entertaining movie. Sandler plays Happy Gilmore, a hockey player at heart who unfortunately can't skate to save his life. Happy then decides to try professional golf because he has an awesome golf swing and also because his poor old grandmother has to move to an old folks home because she owes the IRS $275,000.
What follows next is absolutely funny. Happy enters golf tournaments and due to his explosive temper it is truely side splittingly hilarious to see him explode on the golf course. Happy's main rival is Shooter McGavin a truely egotistical, caniving person who tries to get Happy kicked off the tour. The beautiful Julie Bowen portrays Sandler's girlfriend in the movie, and Carl Weathers is Happy's mentor Chubbs Peterson. Ben Stiller has an untitled role in the movie, playing a mean orderly at the old folks home.
One of the best scenes in the movie is when Happy gets in a fight with Bob Barker. Whoever wrote this scene is a comedy genious and it makes the movie better. This movie is highly recommended to all fans of Adam Sandler and great comedy in general.

Gounod - Romeo et Juliette / Mackerras, Alagna, Vaduva, Royal Opera Covent Garden - movie DVD cover picture
Meltingly Lyrical - Beautifully Sung - Brilliantly Staged

Charles Gounod is frequently accused by critics of being "too pretty" or "too sentimental", yet his masterpiece, Faust, is one of the most performed operas in history. Romeo is close to Faust insofar as its lyrically melodic score is concerned and when well sung and staged, is a real treat to the eyes and ears. Having seen it onstage twice, I was prepared to be critical, but also to be captured by a good performance. This is a very good performance. Alagna has enough youthfulness at this stage in his career to be a believable Romeo, and he sings the role with magnificent vocal technique as well as near perfect French. (I stopped and replayed the second act aria, "Ah! Leve- toi soleil ..." so that my significant other could enjoy it.) In fact, one of the real pleasures of this disc is the French diction of all the performers. I had never seen or heard Leontina Vaduva (Juliette) before watching this disc, but she does a great job as the teenaged heroine. Vocally, her lyric, coloratura is ideal for the role and her opening aria, "je veux vivre..." is perfectly realized. She can act, too, as evidenced by all her interactions onstage, particularly, and not at all surprising, with Romeo. Particular mention should be made of Anna Maria Panzarella in the " trousers role" of Stephano, Romeo's page. She has a fine voice and great stage presence. Maestro Mackerras coducts with respect for the emotional nature of the score. The tape to disc transfer is near perfect, as is the recorded sound. As I have noted in other reviews, the DVD medium is next best to live theatre, because the viewer sees and hears the performance, and can experience the totality of the operatic experience. So, if you are looking to see what opera is all about, or introduce older children to the genre, this performance is hard to beat, because the music is consistantly lovely, and the onstage action is ongoing. And if you are, like me, a longtime opera fan, just buy this disc, and if you don't find it enjoyable, send me an e-mail challenge to this review. The domestic cultural scene, unfortunately, sees fewer opera performances, except in major cities like New York. The DVD medium, fortunately, lets good operatic performances come to our homes. Enjoy!!

Are you aware of what you watch on television? Imagine what would happen if you were sucked into the television world and had to fight your way out. This goofy comedy is great. When John Ritter 's character turns to couch-potato retirement, the Devil comes knocking with a super deal on bizarre cable service. The Devil is desparate for souls. It's hilarious! Especially the cartoon scene.
