If you like will like the matrix

Both are based on philosophy of decartes. Decartes philosophized about the posibility of everything we sense being imaginary...that sensation, and therefore memory, could just be fed to our minds. Both films create great atmosphere, great effects and great characters. Sit back and enjoy.

Donnie Darko

Donnie Darko is an awesome movie filled with great characters and outstanding visual effects. The whole premise is set up great and and the black comedy evens it all out to be an unforgettable film. The acting is actually not bad at all.Jake Gyllenhaal which was in Day After Tommorrow did an unbelievably perfect job as Darko and I don't know anyone else that could have pulled it off the same as he did.Jena Malone from Saved! did good job too and just showed us all that she will just be getting better in the future.Barrymore played a bit of a different role in this film which I think she did a good job at.I liked her better in this than some of her crappy comedies made these days.Noah Wyle was okay; he didn't really have a huge part, kinda I guess. The film also has a really really good score that fits this gloomy story perfectly in everyway.I wouldn't mind picking it up.I also liked the Tears For Fears song that played in the beginning.I think it's called Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels / Broken .Anyway I t was great and I like that album.Well actually only two songs on it.But Donnie Darko is a breakthrough into all different genres of film.It is great to see such an awesome plot filled with great dialogue and a wonderful ending.Make sure to check Donnie Darko out right away. It's outstanding.

October 2nd, 1988: just another ordinary day in Donnie Darko's teen-aged existence. He's taken his medication, watched Dukakis and Bush debate, and had dinner with the family. Then comes an outrageous accident. Out of the blue, a 2,000 pound jet engine plummets from the sky and crashes into Donnie's bedroom, obliterating it. Luckily, Donnie isn't in bed. Or is it luck? As Donnie begins to explore what it means to still be alive, and in short order to be in love, he uncovers secrets of the universe that give him a tempting power to alter time and destiny. From 26 year-old first-time writer-director Richard Kelly comes the provocative Donnie Darko, a genre-busting fable that blasts the American suburban drama into a wildly imaginative realm of time travel, alternative universes and the manipulation of one's fate. But at the core of Donnie Darko is the simple story of a boy trying to make a stand in a lonely, chaotic world - and discovering that every little thing he does counts on a cosmic scale.

"A captivating dark vision."

My Favorite Anime EVER

I really don't know what I can say about this series. The characters are perfect (most of them), the animation is good enough, and I loved the music. I got this box set last week, and it's like watching a gift from God. I've seen it several times, and I still love it. All the people who have reviewed have done a better job than me at saying this, BUT GO BUY IT. Also note: even though some people may like Cowboy Bebop more, try this one out.

Not quite as good as the first but still a classic!

I keep wanting to see this movie on DVD. To be honest I think this one is the funniest of the three, maybe not the best overall but the funniest. The banter between the Sheriff and his son take this movie over the top. Now if this movie and Used Cars could just be put on DVD...

What Can I Say about James

This is my eighth or ninth Thomas review on Amazon and most of those times I crizied the new tapes. This tape however was a very nice and a good addition to our collection. My little sister loves Diesel and there aren't many tapes starring him however. This tape I feel confident saying i'm glad we bought this. Anyway in James and the Red Balloon Thomas brings a hot air balloon that takes villagers around the island. James however thinks the balloon is going to take their passengers away. I won't reveal anymore this was a good one. In Twin Trouble Donald and Douglas are fighting and it causes confusion and delay. In Edward the Really Useful Engine Gordon says that Edward is useless and he should be retired so Sir Topam Hatt tells Edward to help Stepney but he has to be a back engine for two trains. In the World's Strongest Engine Henry has an accident and Diesel has to help them but he can't help boasting. In Rusty Saves the Day Rheneas and Skarloey's line is closed because it is too hard to clean up and Rusty tries to help them fix it. In Dunkin Duncan Rusty Rheneas and Skarloey help Duncan at the inclined railway but he is rude, careless, and bossy. This tape is a must buy on video or Dvd

Beautiful and Haunting!

This is a brilliant movie. While not a 'chick flick' it does look at things from a woman's point of view but that is what makes it more intense, romantic, poetic and moving. Beautiful dream-like cinematography and score make the New Zeland coast and jungles come alive. Beautiful ensemble acting by the 4 leads especially Anna Paquina and Holly Hunter. Sam Neill is also great as the husband who slowly goes insane, and Harvey Keitel surprised me in this un-typical role for him, he's always been a great actor and this is proof of it. Beautifully filmed poetic scenes and a special 'women's touch' courtesy of Jane Campion. From a scale of 1-10 I give this movie a 9!

Finally This Masterpiece is Available on DVD!

Federico Fellini's La Strada is an excellent movie, a real masterpiece! I watched this on cable one day and it really sparked my interest. It is a sad deep movie and it really makes you think and I have found it to be a movie that really left a lasting impression on me and I would like to own this movie on DVD. The Criiterion DVD is kind of expensive but I think La Strada is such a wonderful movie that I will buy it for my DVD collection even though it's expensive! this is the only Fellini movie I have seen but if they are all as wonderful as La Strada I look forward to watcing them too and I think Fellini is a genius and Anthony Quinn and Guilietta Masina were outstanding as Zampano and Gelsomina.
