I Could Watch Over and Over

I had heard references of this film many times and wanted to see what the fuss was about.Earlier had watched a special effects sci/fi whizzarama and felt compelled to come down to earth very quickly. Well with Fonda and Lee J.Cobb and Sidney Lumet directing I guess you cant go wrong.I liked how the diferent characters interplayed with each other despite the differences in their backgrounds.E.G.Marshalls character, the smug accountant who doesnt sweat. You just gotta hate him. Having been on a jury even with the best intentions in the world after a few hours sitting with eleven strangers you pretty well get to know their personalities and prejudices no matter the evidence. After a while believe me it can get personal, especially when capital punishment is involved. The plot itself is not a new concept but it was then in 1957.I also liked the black&white photography which emphasized the seriousness of the plot. The ending was predictable of course but this did not detract from the marvellous performances of these actors most of whom sadly are no longer with us.I should feel moved to see the 1997 version just to compare the two, but I wont. Its in colour.

For a good cry, watch this movie!

This movie will have you in tears. Each time I watch it, the reaction is the same. Lana Turner is the struggling actress that turns her back on love for a career...Juanita Moore is fantastic as the long-suffering domestic that tries to instill black pride in her angry, light-skinned daughter, who is passing for white. It's a movie about race, love, prejudice, insecurities, family...this movie has it all. Pick this one up!

sound and scene cannot leave you!

I have watched this more than ten times. Each time I am moved by the color and music in this movie. Each color metaphors each actor's feeling and enhances scene's atomosphere. There is one theme colour for each scene is you can enjoy it just by watching it. It goes without saying that the music is awsome. The theme song was pretty popular here in Japan also and it is composed pretty well. Refering to the topic, it is not only a sort of romantic love story but also we can see how one young woman lives. How the sociey went. Happily the army system was changed now! Well in the end I strongly recommend this movie.

Fearless earless Aussie Crim

I'll be brief. This is quite simply one of the best crime films you will ever see. The acting - especially Bana - is superb, the direction and camera faultless. The story is taken from Mark 'Chopper' Read's many books and is based around his time in Prison as a young man till his big break as one of Australia's best selling authours - which is amazing when you consider that he can't even spell, he's 'semi-bloody-illiterate'! As opposed to Tarantino where the violence does sit comfortably with the comedy, 'Chopper' is charming and likeable one minute and in the blink of an eye he's suddenly a paranoid, sadistic showoff sociapath. It is funny and appaling at the same time and that is how I like violence to be portrayed. 'Chopper' seems like a nice guy, the sort of guy you could be friends with, but you get the feeling that if you left the sugar out of his tea he'd stab you thirty times with a rusty fork - the man cut his ears off to get a prison transfer for goodness sake!!!. The audio tracks feeature director Andrew Dominik and the real Mark 'chopper' Read as well as a 'weekend with 'chopper' feature, the highlight of which is Read's disbelief at the release date of the film. This film is easilly in a higher league than The usual Guy Ritchie-Scorcese wannabe crime thriller and as 'Chopper' points out: "I cut my ears off long before anybody had ever heard of Quentin Tarantino!" Australian films rule and this is certainly at the top of the heap of the last decade. Buy it and be blown away.

EXCELLENT!!!!

I found this old favorite of my, chilling while mixed with a soft and sensual nature intertwined. Frank Langella was a superb vampire, because he added sort of a sympathetic element to this sometimes cold and mysterious character. It fits the mold of the modern vampire films. A must see!

Undeniably the best comic to film transfer ever , epic.

When director Brian Singer did The Usual Suspects he changed the way thrillers were made. Now let me tell you when he tackled X-Men he definately tackled it and then some giving it his touch his wizardry to make this by far the best comic to film transfer ever made. The movie starts with a man named Xavier who in an earlier scene was with a man named Magneto in the Jewish Holocaust former friend but now clouded by a diffrence in veiws of the world , Magneto's objective is to rid the planet of every human life form. But Xavier's wish is to help the humans to realize the potential in accepting one another and living in peace. But in a world where the face of evil can lurke anywhere is there hope of peace from the face of magneto's wraith there is Xavier who is played brillantly by Patrick Stewart has formed an alliance of war torn mutants who have been anything but accepted by humans each mutant has a gift certain powers that if controlled can be used for good
purposes but when an alienated teenager by the name of Rouge and a war torn bad boy named Wolverine played by newcomer , Hugh Jackman who does an exceptional acting job it makes the road for Xavier all the more harder. When Wolverine is shyed into Xaviers allience , Wolverene is more then not willing to see the good in the cause till he finds out that there are , more like him Dr. who has telikenetic powers ,Cyclops who has a fusion ray in his helmet and storm who has the ability to
control weather , but Magneto also has mutants of his own Sabertooth , Toad , and the beautiful but dangerous Mystique but when Magneto's plan involves using Rouge as a shild for his experiment Wolverene who has a friendship bond to Rouge decideds to join the X-MEN to fight Magneto's ploit but it will not be easy for the X-MEN, in this incredible and film worthy adaption to the legendary comic book , great acting and an epic storyline push this to be one of the best films of 2000 , worth while options and a great storyline this is a must for any action fan and you even don't even have to be a fan of the comic to see this movie.A great film the entire family will love alot of great morals in this see again film.

Can't wait!

Talk about character arch! This is a team of real "friends" with real personalities and complex lives. And, they are not grimly facing autopsies in hand-held psuedo-grittiness to get across their issues of moral responsibility and complexity.
This is by far the best modern myth we have. Buy three for you friends and tell universal not to mess up the movie by making it farcical comedy.
