Holy WOW

The first time I saw Terror Firmer it was on one of those late night shows...I was instantly in love. I searched for it in videos stores. Nothing...untill now. I tell everyone who has a twisted sick sense of humor...PURCHASE and enjoy. From Ron Jeremy to Will Kennan....I rate it higher than 5 stars.

totally cool

This DVD is great, no reservations. Well maybe I would like to hear some more faster music, but it doesn't really bother me. It's all very cool. Oh and more Irish pennywhistle please!!
Who cares if some of the singing doesnt match what you see, everybody knows these things are filmed over lots of concerts and put together - just about every other DVD I have is the same. This music is really fresh and original, I kept waiting for irish dancert to appear but they didn't...hurray!!!
Great stuff...any chance of another DVD mine is getting worn out?

A joyous experience!

You can't watch this movie and sit still! It has a good homespun story line about a young man who finds out he can go home again, and that a person's roots remain a part of him forever. It's filled with happy music and Cuba Gooding Jr's exhuberant performance is contagious. A great physical explosion of gospel music!

Man v. The System: Film returns to it's artistic roots

I am normally loathe to give *anything* a perfect score. Perfect scores are just that: perfection. I feel that this movie is indeed perfect. Deep characters, an excellent storyline, believable situations, you name it.
The hero, Andy receives a life sentence for the murder of his wife, and then spends the next 20+ years living it out. After quite some time, Andy manages to make friends with a few of the inmates and after being placed in a pivotal position, begins to make real improvements in the prison rehabilitation practices.
The movie draws you in and holds you there. There are very, very few movies on the planet that can achieve that all-elusive place of causing you to forget that you're in the real world.
Set aside plenty of time to watch this masterpiece so you can enjoy it uninterrupted and prepare to stand in awe of filmmaking as an art.

Such a good short series

This series is da bomb! Unfortunently the bomb's about as big as a cherry bomb. Talk about short! 3 whole volumns with 2 episodes each. sheesh. Why did they even bother. I love the show. Terrific story, great graphics. It left me wanting more! Just when you think after watching this first episode that you're in for a long ride of swashbuckling adventure, think again.

Please, it's not a Disney remake!

This film is NOT a remake of the Disney movie, but a faithful interpretation of the original classic by JM Barrie. It does not simply highlight the fantasy, pirates, and sword fighting (although all are present), but also explores issues in the book that were ignored by the earlier productions, such as the deep psychological undertones of the Peter-Wendy-Hook triangle, the latent sexual tension between Peter and Wendy, and the poignancy of Wendy's maturing feelings for Peter, who refuses to reciprocate. This is a great movie for kids, adults, and all lovers of the original book.
The child actors who play Peter and Wendy are both gorgeous and marvelous. It is heartbreaking to realize that neither exists anymore -- in real life, they're growing up.

I Love This Movie!!!

I was anxious to say the least about seeing Baz Luhrmann's "Moulin Rouge." Based on what I had seen in the trailers, it looked to be a really delicious piece of film making. But, as I sat in the darkened theater, I quickly became aware that I was not totally prepared for the inspired vision that was about to unfold.
"Moulin Rouge" is nothing short of dazzling, a wild-eyed, acid trip of a movie, that looks and sounds like nothing you've ever seen before. The first 45 minutes of this reinvented musical are a dizzying blur that will leave you gasping to catch your breath. It's like being grabbed up by the seat of your pants and hurled through a cartoon, cardboard cutout of Paris, (circa 1900). It is at the same time garish, bawdy, and beautiful, sort of like riding a terrifying thrill ride, at 100 miles per hour and the minute it's over you want to run to get back in line, to ride it again.
The story is a classic opera tale that centers around the characters Christian, a penniless writer, played with class and style by Ewan McGregor, and Satine, the beautiful star, and courtesan of the fabled "Moulin Rouge," played by gorgeous Nicole Kidman. The incredible scenes between Ewan and Nicole literally light up the screen with love and excitement. They sing... they dance and they do both damn well! It's pure joy watching these two forbidden lovers cavort across the star lit sky, literally singing with the moon of their secret love.
"Moulin Rouge" features some great contemporary songs by Elton John, "Your Song," Madonna, "Like A Virgin," and Sting, "Roxanne," all reinterpreted into some of the most eye-popping musical production numbers put on film since the 1940's. The entire supporting cast-of-characters, including a fabulous performance by Jim Broadbent, add just the right balance to round out this loopy, lopsided kaleidoscope of a movie.
I have seen a lot of musicals over the years, some great, some not so great, but I don't believe I have ever seen one that has affected me in such an odd way as "Moulin Rouge." This wonderful film has broken the tired old mold of movie musicals and given it a vibrant, shinny new life, and quite frankly, that's a very good thing!
The DVD is incredible, with enough behind the scenes features, to keep you happy for hours. This one is a must for your collection.

One of the most beautiful

Visually. And emotionally. One of the most beautiful and rewarding films I've ever seen. Equal in quality and power to "In the Belly of an Architect." Man against himself. The value of love. Individuality in thought and courage. Style in losing (not saying by whom). Vladimir Nabokov created the original novel, Peter Berry wrote the screenplay (why are writers downplayed so much?), and Marlene Gorris directed. More credit yet to the cinematographer and to fine actors Emily Watson and John Turturro (he's good enough to deserve a slot on "The Sopranos"). An easy five stars.

The best kept secret of the year

I think some of the critical reviews about this movie are unfair. They say the plot is weak and it is unbelievable. So what! So is everything else Hollywood puts out. I think the casting, the cinematography, the message, the music, the values, the acting and the whole feel of the movie was fanatastic. I can't believe it didn't do better at the box office. I can't wait to buy it on DVD when it is released.
