Hillarious!

I rented the dvd of this movie, It's supposed to be a comedy, unfortunately, I couldn't even laugh one time at anyone of the jokes.
After just 10 minutes I decided to 4x/8x speed through the movie to get it over with.
This was the worst spending of my time in a very long time.

FASTER PARAMOUNT, PRINT FASTER!

I was surprised to see they bumped the schedule run on these and we will have 6 discs by the end of the year (and with any hope that will hop to 8). The transfers are gorgeous, though the audio does drop out here and there (problem of remixing mono to stereo...and certainly harder to make mono surround).
I think the Sci-Fi channel interviews would have been cool to add to these episodes, but I also understand that licensing doesn't always go smoothly. Perhaps we can get some DVD's at the end of the series release that has all the interviews on a single disc? (maybe even with a coupon in the last few discs that will give you the interview disc(s) free with proofs of purchase of several of the episodes?)
If you own the series on VHS, I HIGHLY recommend you upgrade to these digital transfers, they are so much cleaner, brighter, and sharper than ANY of the VHS transfers I have ever seen.

One of the best classic comedies ... all over the world !

Yes ! All over the world . First few times I watched it as a kid ... in Russia . I had to skip school with friends and sneack in the movie theater thrue the exit , just to watch it again . And gess what... I steel laugh , when I watch it . I know , it is a little corny sometimes .But I don't care - Just relexxx and enjoy it . If you can't - go and rent "Dumb and Dumber". Just an autorace from New York to Paris ? I don't think so . Just watching " inspector Columbo " being young and kind of clumsy is priceless.

Great Movie, but could this be the real novel-ty

It seemed almost like a tradition each Holiday break to go and see the Lord of the Rings movies in theatres. Now that the trilogy is over with, Peter Jackson definitely needs to direct the re-make of the Hobbit.

The Return of the King, in my opinion was the best. Unlike the first two, the movie was not drawn together by broad lengthed battle scenes. I also liked how this movie actually contain all the elements a good movie would, comedy (the laughing in bed scene, or the Sam and Frodo posse, and even Gandalf-pure comic relief), romance (though somehow not deep romance, but its there),characters overcoming their obstacles to mature their position, a plot that was straightforward and not cut out, random people with problems, drawn out death scenes, and trying to build from the novel with the creativity of the director. Though there were plenty of scenes missing from the book.

So in this version I hope it includes the Battle of Baywater (or when the Hobbits get home, and see it taken over by ruffians and Saruman), or the scene where Aragorn rescues injured patients with a magical herb. But I'll have to see how it goes.

OH COOL! It's an INteractive GAME DVD!

Hi all! This is my second review, agreeing that I made a boo boo below. At first, I thought this was only the episode. As it turns out, it's the episode PLUS an added twist. You get to decide the fate of the story by selecting what moves our dynamic warrior women will do. Xena (Lucy Lawless) Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor). All right! A Xena game for a great price. Hope they do more like this. Yiyiyiya!

The English Patient - movie DVD cover picture
One of the best films of all time?

In the final days of the last war, a badly burned man lies dying in an abandoned church in newly liberated Italy. With his memory of the past gone, the one purpose left in his life is to regain his memories before he dies. As those memories come back, a story of love and tragedy emerges.
This film appeals on very many different levels.
The story that unfolds of the doomed love between The English Patient and the wife of one of his fellow pilots and explorers really is a powerful tale.
But as this is revealed, we also see the Patient struggling with a life whose only purpose has become to try to survive for long enough to remember. We see this man living parts of his life again as the memories return.
Interwoven with this is the quest of the mysterious Carravagio to find, confront and bring to justice the man whom he blames for the mutilations that he suffered at the hands of the Germans.
Then there is the story of the Army Nurse, Juliette Binoche who, despite the conflicts and tragedies that she sees remains totally committed to both her patient and the man whom she comes to love.
If these story items are not enough, the beautiful filming of Africa and Italy is real artistry. It's just wonderful to look at. Even without characters and plot, the landscapes and flying sequences would make it worth watching this film.
The acting is a delight to view as well. The actors are confronted with roles that cannot have been at all easy to portray. Despite this, every character in the film is brought to life.
This film was showered with awards when first released and it deserved every one of them. It's a great movie and you can watch it over and over again and keep finding something new to think about.

The Dance !

Fleetwood Macs reunion CD and video "The Dance" are fantastic. As a fan since the 70's when Lindsey and Stevie joined up, I have to say this band has never sounded better. Lindsey's acoustic Big Love and Go Insane take your breath away, and Stevie has never looked (or sounded) so good! I was VERY happy to see Silver Springs finally get the recognition this excellent song has always deserved, and Stevie's Rhiannon is still as sweet and magical as ever. Christine McVie's voice seems stronger than the old days, and her talent as a hit-maker isn't lost in her new song "Temporary One". Overall, this video is a MUST for anyone who loves music, and love the MAC!

excellent

I really enjoyed Grave of the Fireflies. It was excellent. This anime is a historical one. The setting was war but it was really about the children. What they had to endure to survive. It ran through all your emotions from sad to mad.

THe Best of the Best

I bought FOTR (Fellowship of the Ring) on VHS when it first came out on August 6th. My family then thought I was crazy because I wanted the EE (extended edition) on DVD. I'm used to being called crazy though, so I didn't mind. ;) I finally received the EE on DVD about a month after it first came out and OMG!!!! Some of the scenes are incredible! If you are a ringer (Tolkien fan) and you love the books and you were VERY annoyed that Galadriel giving all the members of the Fellowship gifts was taken out, you should definitely buy this. For others who just liked the theatrical version of FOTR, I don't think I would really recommend this, because a lot of the scenes you really have to have read the books to understand. AND some of them are very easy to see why they were taken out (e.g., Aragorn singing: he has a horrible singing voice!!! Sorry Viggo). One of my favorite scenes was "At the Green Dragon" (an inn in Hobbiton) with Pippin and Merry dancing on the table and singing. It was sooooo hobbit-like. One scene that I thought was strange was after Frodo is wounded by the ringwraith on the hill of Weathertop, the hobbits and "Strider" are sitting right under the trolls that Gandalf turned to stone in The Hobbit. Sam is ridiculous though, saying "Look Mr. Frodo! It's Mr. Bilbo's trolls!" Waaaay to upbeat when his master is dying.
The special features are amazing too. I've watched all of them but two. Again, if you really liked FOTR but you're not that interested in seeing little scenes that were taken out or how Aragorn's chain mail shirt was made (j/k! I never saw if the chain mail shirt was Aragorn's or not), then you'll be bored by this. Every single little weapon, piece of clothing, set, location, actor, actress, crew member, is described in pinpoint detail. It's fantastic.
For other ringers, a point of interest is that a part of the special features has a section where you can see the early storyboards acted out for the Sarn Gebir rapids (when there was flooding on the river where the set was, the set was washed away), the orc chase into Lothlorien, and I think something else but I forget what it was. This is definitely a must-have for all Tolkien devotees!
