Bride of Chucky - movie DVD cover picture

i really have enjoyed all ot the chucky movies, and bride of chucky was definitely a riot. I know it wasn't exactly scary, but having brad dourif do chucky's voice in all 4 movies, well, what can i say, i think he gives chucky life, and that makes me a true fan of the movies. Honestly, the child's play movies are definitely worth watching, if you are a true horror fan like myself.

Supurb Remake of the Charge

The late 1960s saw some of the best period costume war movies ever made. This re-make of the old 1936 Errol Flynn classic bares little resemblence, but is more historically accurate.
For background sets, unifroms and period feel this movie has few equals. Only the 1968 Waterloo movie can compare with its sets and costumes. The historical accuracy of these sorts of things is what maks this movie a visual treat. The storyline itself is a little hard to follow at times. Depictions of regimental life in the cavalry is excellent, but the Britishisms of the actors are also hard to understand. The story provides striking contrasts between the upper and lower classes in Victorian England, but the droppy romance between Captain Noland and Captain Morris's wife seems contrieved. Although both actual characters, I doubt they knew each other so well, as they were both in different regiments. The adulturous affair is added for plots sake.
Lord Cardigan is brilliantly played by Trevor Howard, although a number of his famous controversial "Black Bottle" scenes have been combined and attributed to Noland and him. Again this didn't happen, but it is a minor alteration for plot and it does not hurt the movie. It allows us to still see the characters of Cardigan and Noland accurately within the context of the film.
Lord Raglan in all his feebleness is also wonderfully portrayed by Sir John Gielgud. The movie accurately shows the Victorian mindset of the British army which was shockingly conservetive but incredibly brave. More details on the battle of the Alma as as well as the events leading up to the Charge at Balaklava would have been nice. Perhaps the editing axed out the Charge of the Heavy Briagde and the 93rd Highlanders Thin Red Line. These episodes would have placed the Light Brigade Charge in better perspective.
Still, the depiction of the charge is extremly good and must rank as one the best shown on film. The fact that the director actually used 600 men and horses for the scene is an indication of how much detail was used for this film. This kind of production value is not seen much these days. Cinema and history buffs should love this movie. It deserves to be watched several times as dialogue and rich scenes should be savored over and over again. This movie is crying out for a directors cut DVD or VHS edition as there must be a lot of footage that was removed.

Wait For The Extended Version!

You know, I saw "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" in theaters twice. I thought it was the best of the trilogy. I've never seen the Special Editions, but when ROTK (SE) comes to DVD, I'm buying them all in one boxed set. I'm waiting for SE's.
"If you could choose between 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' and 'Return of the Jedi' what would you choose?" said a friend.
"Kings beat Jedi any day, dude!" I said.
I hold myself to that opinion.

Tru Calling - The Complete First Season - movie DVD cover picture
Tru Calling is the best show and deserves to remain that way

I tuned in to 'Tru Calling' every week, some episodes were better than others obivously, but the show was unique, it had people you cared about. The addition of Jason Priestly's character added a whole new dimension to the show, because he's not exactly evil. Jack believes that what he is doing is right, just as much as Tru does. Besides, his character makes sense in regards to the ideals of equal and opposing forces. He adds more to the show, it made the show even better. It's not as simple as a hero/villain dynamic, it is that, but it's a lot more than that, and when the show returns for its second season, we'll see exactly how this new dynamic is explored. Eliza Dushku is wonderful as Tru Davies, she has a great sense of doing the right thing, she also portrays the burden of having to always figure out a way of finding things out and changing things for the better. She's headstrong and charges into things sometimes without thinking, but more often than not proves herself to be extremely adept to thinking on her feet. I even love the guy that plays Davis, he's her mentor, the wise old sage that guides her along her path. In many ways he's kind of like her Watcher (big Buffy injoke, considering who Eliza used to portray). And of course, Harrison, the loveable guy that always gets into trouble and has to be bailed out at some point, you love the guy because you know he's got a good heart and as the season progressed he began making changes in order to become a better person. The show has potential, and we need to let people of that potential and to let people know how cool this show is.

Halloween II - movie DVD cover picture
A sequel better than the first.

This movie is a sequel better than the first, think I'm lieing well see it for your self and you'll belive me.I don't like movies that take place in one set or building but this is an exception.Even though it takes place in a hospital but it's just awsome. This one unlike the first is well made and there are not many special effects but it has a good plot and a good way to trick you like once you think Michel's dead he's just getting slowed down from killind people. The best part of the movie is the end. They use special effects and I guess you could say they use the hospital to kill him,or so they think. If you liked the first Halloween see this one.

great workouts, loved this as much as FitMamaPrenatal

this is a great workout to slowly start getting back into action. I went to the doc and was told I could begin working out five weeks after delivery and i am doing really good three months later, and i owe it all to Leisa Hart. The FitMama Postnatal workout is prefectly paced, Hart is great at telling to watch your body and take it slow, she is precise and fun and motivating. I loved the funcky fat burn, and really felt good after each workout. i am now doing her Gym IN A Box dvd and love it, it is fabulous.....i highly recommend getting the FitMama Postnatal and go at your own pace, itf its not enought, get something else, but i think you'll love this.

Gangs of New York

In spite of all the hype, this false, laborious, simple-minded, and underfelt behemoth may well be Scorsese's worst movie. The flashy editing seems heavy-handed, more music video than serious story-telling. The plot is poorly presented, often hard to follow and the characterization is next to non-existent. Even the most basic narrative skills are shaky here. Daniel Day Lewis and Cameron Diaz are wasted and DiCaprio is seriously miscast. The sets are fake looking, the performances unconvincing, and the camerawork self-conscious. But I did learn something--about the amount of dishonesty among professional reviewers and various other media types (the execrable Charlie Rose) who heap dishonest praise on dishonest movies merely because of the clout of certain actors or directors. If only Pauline Kael were still around to proclaim to the ears of the lazy and pretentious that this emperor has no clothes.Only think of the number of worthwhile projects that could have been made by less well known writers and directors for the cost of this hollow mess.
