Hilarious!

A charming, polished and original comedy featuring a great performance from Murphy and some memorable laughs. Some of my favorite scenes are:

- when they all get up from the leather couch and there is soul glow grease all over it from where their heads were ("Just let your Soul GLLLOOOWW!!").

- when Samuel L. Jackson robs the McDowell's restaurant that Murphy and Hall are working at. The ensuing scene between Jackson and Murphy is classic.

- when Murphy gets his hair cut off in the barbershop (Snip. "that'll be 10 dollars").

- that "She's Your Queen to Be" song.

There are so many more scenes that I love that I could mention. A must-see!

It is not a lie. They just don't want you to see it.

The reviews claiming this film is fabrication are right-wing Bush supporters who are sunk in their own reality. Of course they hate it and will say whatever they can to hush it. You can not dispute the FACTS. Moore did not invent this story, with a little research you can confirm them yourself. Michael Moore's offical website (...) has an extensive fact finder (see the War Room) which is a good place to start. Read the documents yourself.

Right-wingers got so mad they've made the movie Farenhype 911 which attacks Moore for being unpatriotic. The can spin spin spin, their so good at it, but they can never address and disprove the facts!

it's a shame...

I saw the box office reports on this movie. It's depressing to know that this was a flop. Sure, Jim Hawkins isn't a guy in red-and-blue swinging through New York City. He doesn't bear the much sought after "Ring of Power." He's not a wizard-in-training (thank goodness). No, instead Disney has created a down-to-earth teen with many family problems and other issues (I wonder how many teens today can relate to this). This is top-notch story-telling! I wanted to see the movie because of John Rzeznik's "Im Still Here," and my desire to see it increased after a friend of mine was talking about it. So that night I saw it, only to find myself blown away by how well Disney made this movie that I started telling everyone about it. This is Disney's best movie in a long, long, long time (since probably Lion King)!!! If you missed your chance to see it on the screen, wait til it hits video and DVD!

Welcome, Bing and Bong!

We have been watching Tiny Planets for some time on the Latin American feed for Direct TV, but the videos were only previously available in the UK (PAL) format, and not NTSC.
I am so glad that these shows are now available, because they are simply entertaining and educational. Without saying a word, Bing and Bong take you on discovery adventures to the Tiny Planets, each one teaching something different - light, colour, sound, nature - lots of science. You can clearly understand what's going on through the helpful interpreter, Halley, and the concepts are easy and well presented.
Each episode is short, and therefore not a problem for kids with short attention spans, and there are eight episodes in the video, so there's a lot of learning fun to be had.
Great for pre-K's and up

sci-fi channel's DUNE

I have been a dune's fun for more than 10 years, i own all the books, i have seen david linch's version and now i own the sci-fi version. I am glad to say i recieved great compensation for my money. It is well adapted for tv, acting is good (though not oscar worthy it is suitable),the design of the dune's enviroment ( castles, ships, tools etc.)is well crafted, computer generated images are beatiful and storyline is very much respected. For all these reasons you should purchase it. But be advise, it has also some downsides. Some characters are slightly modifed, the interface between the live characters and the computer generated images is at times sluggish and some aspects of the political arena and history are left behind, loosing some of Dune flavor. Some of facts mentioned previosly by the author of the first review are correct, some things are better in linch's version, like the cast and the stillsuits but not many. Bottomline given the format it was made for (tv), it is a great tribute for the Dune saga, worthy of been seen and bought.

Shame on us!

Some things I liked about the movie:
* Many of the tableaux-like shots reminded me of the paintings of CM Russell, cowboy artist.
* The observation by Costner's character that Dances With Wolves, his Sioux name, means something to him while he gets no such feedback from his given name, John Dunbar.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Fifth Season - movie DVD cover picture
A season of change

In this season, we of course learn a lot about the mysterious new character named Dawn, and how she is really this mystical key that these monks have put into the form of something that Buffy will forever protect; a sister. And then there's this fallen god who is after this key named Glory, and there's this thing that she does where she can transform herself from...well, from a female and to a male and back again in some rather spectacularly wonderful special effects.
We also learn though that even through some of these spectacular battles, the Summers family all have lives and a past that reach far beyond Sunnydale, some of them very fragile and shattered lives.
As we learn of Spike's past from before he became a vampire in leagues with Angel and Darla, we learn that he wasn't always as crass and spiteful as he once became. We learn of Tara's past, and how she was conditioned into what she had become as she was growing up, as well as how far back the memories of Dawn reach back.
But while learning of the rich histories of many of our characters, we also learn of the impending death of Joyce Summers with her brain tumor, which culminated in the episode "The Body", which had no background music, and no real special mission for Buffy to go on.
Of course, none of this underscores the climatic battle between Buffy and Glory, where Buffy makes the ultimate sacrifice, impending in her own death.
