High Dosage for Seasoned Fans

...I hope they re-release these videos at some point and re-master them while they're at it. Even though this is a DVD, the videos are grainy and not that much better quality than the VHS version. And as others have mentioned, the sound is only plain stereo. They could tack on some of the videos Tom Petty has done since 1995, too, like You Don't Know How It Feels and It's Good To Be King.
That being said, this is an amazing collection featuring some of the best music videos ever made. If you have ever watched MTV in the era before 1996, you've seen at least a few of them. They're classics and it's great having them on DVD!

Steven Spielberg proves that he can do any kind of movies

Steven Spielberg's childhood fantasy reaches so deeply into our collective youth that it becomes real to you. No wonder it broke box-office records everywhere, and remains one of the most successful films of all time. This movie oozes the heart and soul of a man who yearns to have back the wonder and joy of being a child. All of the performances are winning, from Henry Thomas' wide-eyed yet melancholy boy, to Dee Wallace Stone's believable mother, to Drew Barrymore's truly hilarious and adorable Gertie. John Williams' music will forever engender the magic of a boy, his bike and his beloved alien friend cycling past a full moon. All of the things that matter the most in life, from family, to home, to growing up, are cherished in every frame of this wondrous movie. Share it with your children as soon as you can.

Unnatural yet commical

DO YOU LIKE CRAZZZZY TOADS? YOU WILL!!! Oh where to begin. The Cane Toad, as you will soon find out, is a remarkable animal. This fabulous movie combines knowledge with humor and entertainment. It is a movie fit for all ages while still remaining practical. It begins with a brief history about the Cane Toad and continues on to describe how the Cane Toad got to Australia. It includes commical parts including a scientific demonstration of the mating proccess, a stuttering local aquarium worker, many elderly local residents commentary, a surprise attack of cane toads on a singing man in the shower, and a little girl's opinions on the creatures. During the little girls speech she goes on to demonstrate how she plays with the toad as a doll. She says "Sometimes I call him Greeny, sometimes I call him Red, sometimes I call him Cane but mostly I call him Dairy Queen." The man who demonstrates the toad matting proccess also demonstrates the toads mating call. This commical, useful documentary is a wonderful way to demonstrate what can happen when a nonnative species is introduced into a new habitat. It is action packed and thrilling to the core. Nothing comes close to this fab movie! Guaranteed to hold your interest for hours on end, however, it is only 45 minutes long! BUY ONE TODAY! I only wish we had Cane Toads here in the United States. You will be addicted to the wonders of the cane toads just like me. I eat, sleep, and live for cane toads!

Make 'em all like this Tom.

This is not the film that it advertised itself to be. You do not get what you paid for; you'll leave with something much more beautiful than that. The recently deceased Conrad L. Hall, known for his breathtaking cinematography in the classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and the more recent American Beauty, has filmed the most beautifully shot movie of the year. Tom Hanks plays Michael Sullivan, a contract killer under the employment of John Rooney, played by old Butch himself, Paul Newman. This movie is not so much a gang warfare manhunt as it is an odd display of the father-son relationship. My, it does it well.

The Mummy (Widescreen Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
What a Thrill Ride!

In ancient Egypt, one priest had the nerve to fall in love with Pharaoh's mistress. As a penalty, he was cursed to become one of the undead and suffer for all time. Unless someone released him from his prison.

Flash forward to the 1920's. A group of treasure hunters and a group of archeologists set out to find the ancient city of Hamunaptra. When they accidentally awaken the ancient evil, they find themselves in a race against time to save their own skin and the world in general. Is there a way to stop someone you can't kill?

This movie starts out rather slow. The first hour is set up getting the characters to the city. Once the Mummy awakens, however, it becomes a fast paced thrill ride you can't stop watching. The actors do a great job of keeping things believable, even if the plot has a few holes in it.

The DVD truly has some great stuff on it. Not only do you get great picture and sound with wide screen and full surround, but you get some fun features, too. The director's audio commentary is fascinating, discussing the struggles that it took to get the movie to the screen. Along those lines, the documentary is fantastic as well. I always love seeing what goes into making movie magic. Also worth checking out is the section on ancient Egypt.

This movie is slightly horror, but mainly action/adventure. It's a Saturday matinee, popcorn flick with great special effects. Pop it in and enjoy.

A movie for all times

I first saw the original and horribly maimed version of this movie twenty years ago. I was a youngster then and did not quite like it. Now, when I see the full version ( or is it?... what happened during those twenty years since graduation to Wyoming? )I cannot stop wondering what made critics be so cruel to Michael Cimino and his movie. Was it the fact of dealing with an uncomfortable theme to the classic image of the American people? Was it its lenght or cost? But how could they miss things that were so revolutionary as the color and the way he got it ( long before Spielberg's Private Ryan ), the mingling of voices with all other sounds ( now quite common ), the psychological depth of the characters, the exceptional photographic work, and so on, and so on... I wish someone would give Mike Cimino again all the money he would want to make a film, in order for all of us, true Cinema fans, to get a brief glimpse as to what movies will be, in twenty years time.

One of the most suspenseful movies I have ever seen.

When I first saw this movie at the videostore, I bypassed it. When I caught it on AMC, I realized how excellent the movie really was. The movie was spine tingling and hair raising as it also was bone chilling. The movie was well plotted and left you on the edge of your seat.
A strangler of women are leaving a trail of bodies in his path. A man is determined to stop this. The strangler has chosen his next victim, a girl who has not spoken a single word. She begins to feel eyes watching her and someone stalking her. She tries to tell people, but they do not believe her. As the days go by, one fateful night brings the girl face to face with the heartless murderer.
She searches for help in the house, but there is no one in the house to help her. She realized that she was alone in the house with a killer, and she could not scream for help. As the chase begins, you can't turn the station until the shocking ending. This movie contained all the elements needed to make a good film. Riveting performances as well as murder and suspense. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good spine tingling thriller.

Comedy, Music, The Beatles... how can you go wrong?

This is a hilarous movie. Fans of A Hard Day's Night and Monty Python will love this movie. This outrageous movie is abstract and funny. But, of course the main point of this movie is to see the Beatles, and see them we do. A friend of mine complains "this plot is as thin as a piece of paper!"..........I have never seen a person miss the point of anything so much in my entire life. As if anybody cares about the plot, that is actually what makes the movie so funny, the plot doesn't matter! To top off this wacky adventure is plenty of great Beatles music. This movie is so enjoyable in every way. This is a great feel-good movie.
