Ed Wood (Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Hi, I'm Edward D. Wood Jr...

I just watched this movie for the first time last night at 22 years of age and was amazed. I like it even more thinking about it the next day. Quite a stunning film about Ed Wood, who I was honestly unaware of in Hollywood history. Great performances, great characters, story-line was generally good for a biography type piece.
Okay, yes, Johnny Depp proved that he has acting abilities that no actor should be capable of having. I could barely...barely, find an ounce of him in this part. What is interesting is that you can still "see" Johnny when he takes on his roles like they ARE him, yet they aren't like him. But essentially they really are him. Difficult to explain this feeling but this movie truly made me see that.
Truly great performances by the other magnificent actors too. Bill Murray held his natural sense-of-humor without acting like he has one, didn't even recognize Vincent D'Onofrio as Orsen Wells, and admired Bela aka Landeu's perfromance tremendously(sp?)

You Can't Deny the Facts...

Excellent Extras. This very affecting film puts the complex story behind George Bush's War on Iraq into perspective. It's better on DVD that it was in the theatres - there's so much information to take in you can at least pause and review. Moore clearly has his point of view, but you can't deny the reality of what your seeing for real in Iraq and at home.

Truthful Oversight on Homosexuals in the Military

Soldier's Girl, was a very well done film. The production quality was good, sound quality was good and the acting was great.
I was drawn in and could believe the story as it unfolded. It was a tragic story and what was the hardest part is it was a true story. I wish it had been fiction. This is a worthy investment and an excellant tool to open eyes or widen minds. Buy this film and be as impressed as I was. You also may want " The Laramie Project" about the killing of Matt Sheppard. Also a True Story. Get ready to get MAD.

A masterpiece --- but "surreal"?!?

I take exception to the description of this movie as "surreal." I enjoy surreal movies, but this movie is not surreal, and it does a disservice to those who have not seen The Third Man to call it surreal.

Gold Dust Charlie - Gene Autry

If you grew up watching these old westerns on TV you will enjoy This DVD which features the first 4 episodes of one of the earliest of all TV horse operas.Aimed basically at those growing at the time the stories are quite juvenile and corny, nevertheless they are well produced and provide a fine nostalgia trip for those of an appropriate age. From a technical point of view the picture and sound have been remastered and quality is excellent.Extras include Autry sponsoring Wrigley chewing gum and a Gene Autry singalong jukebox !

Beats Top Gun Hands Down

I just finished viewing this exceptional release of 'The Final Countdown' and am amazed that the HD transfer came through so well from a 24 year old negative! This film combines the best elements of the action, fantasy and sci-fi genres and wraps it all up in a real 'popcorn' movie. Since it had been so long since I'd seen it, it was like watching a brand-new release. The trailers on disc I are in mono and what a revelation when the movie starts with an all-new THX logo specifically created for this film (a la T2 and Toy Story) and then the Dolby Digital 6.1 kicks in. Wow! I don't have a 6.1 setup or DTS, but both are available on this disc. The reason it outdoes 'Top Gun' is in storyline. As in 'Top Gun' actually had no discernible plot. If you enjoy time paradoxes, this is a must see film, especially in this outstanding DVD presentation. A keeper!

Only My Second Hitchcock Film and It Was Great! Grace=Wow!

I saw Psycho for the first time about two years ago and loved it, but I liked this one even better and that's saying something. James Stewart is wonderful in his confining part as an everyday man who just happens to be dating a Perfect 10 of a woman played by Grace Kelly. And as a number reviewers have already stated, her opening close-up shot is breathtaking. This is my first time seeing her in a film even though I have heard of her beauty many times and man is she amazing to look at! I am a guy in my twenties and have seen more than enough beautiful woman who bare it all these days on film, but Grace Kelly is a classic beauty that captivates me everytime she is on screen fully clothed and all. Sorry, I got a little off track thinking about her. I think almost everyone knows the plot and if you don't go rent or buy it today. I just purchased Vertigo and The Birds today, so let me end this review so I can relax while watching the master of his craft work his magic again.

Original Version of this movie fun for Sci Fi fans

I saw this movie when it was on Mystery Science Theature 3000. This was by far, one of the worst movies they have ever watched. It was prime for comments, and great for making fun of. If you want to watch this movie, I hope your watching to make cracks at it. If your watching because you think its going to be might as well put it back. This movie is horrible. The woman who plays the leading lady role in it wrote the movie as well. Hopefully she won't write anymore.
