another great one

I have seen all Bond flicks and own them all on DVD as well. I am only 26 but this to me is a great Bond movie. It does what every other Bond before it has brought to the table, action, hot females, expensive cars, tons of gadgets, an evil bad guy trying to take over the world, and lots of explosions. If you see this movie excpecvting to see anything more or les then boo on you. It keeps the Bond series alive with all the trademarks of the past films

Scorsece's Best

Okay, first let me say that this was by far Scorsece's best work. All the reviews I've read so far are extremely negative, citing the graphic violence in the film as a reason not to like it. Can I please just say that it's a movie about gangs in the 1800s, one of the most violent periods in America's history? Did all those reviewers expect roses and pleasantries? Yes, it was violent, exceedingly so in some parts, but that's how life was in NY at the time and it suited the tone of the film perfectly. As well, Leonardo DiCaprio was outstanding in the film (except for the sporadic Irish accent). He hasn't been this good since What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Go see this movie. It was breathtaking and shocking and utterly spectacular.

Tremors 3 - Back to Perfection - movie DVD cover picture
They Mutated Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Movies generally decline in quality with each sequel. Tremors 3 is no exception. The storyline and dialogue were fine, but it was nothing worth wasting two hours on. It didn't even fit the traditional mold of the previous Tremors movies. About two-thirds the way through the movie, I had said to myself, "This had better pick up eventually." It never really did. The entire movie is very sluggish and the monster vs. human action is not only poorly blocked, it's hardly there. The computer animation enhances the visuals, but this is also few and far between and what's left just looks ridiculous. The photography is rough and the soundtrack is horrible. The few actors that actually appear in this show aren't even top-notch, either. I'll admit, there were a few scenes that made me giggle (not laugh) and cringe with pleasing disgust, but these couldn't make up for the other 55 minutes of pure dryness. If you were a major fan of the first two Tremors movies, then you'll find this one fairly entertaining. -- But it's still a dumb movie.

One of the Best!

I thought Star Wars Episode II was excellent. If anyone has ever seen any of Mr. Christensen's other work in addition to AOTC, this is a phenomenal young actor which I have no doubt will bring this multi-faceted character Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) full circle. The bounty hunter chase was really great among others and being an original Star Wars fan I would rate this right up there with Empire Strikes Back

World Class Anime

If you are able to surrender yourself to the whimsy and pathos of this superbly crafted film, you will be deeply touched and greatly rewarded. It has the complexity of "Perfect Blue" and the depth of "Grave of the Fireflies". Wonderful anime.

great workout

This is my first teabo video and I have to say I got hooked right away, within the first two weeks I started to see the results especially in my saddle bag area and my upper stomach! The hardest part of this video is hopping around trying to keep my balance so I make sure the hubby isn't around to laugh at me while I workout but this is so much fun I am definately buying more teabo workout videos to mix up my weekly workout routine.

Heaven's Gate - movie DVD cover picture
One of the last of the great American movies

This is no more a 'Western' than Heart of Darkness is an 'African'. Like The Deer Hunter, and even more successfully, itis a political parable, describing the tensions between Americanidealism and the realities of American power. It is one of a group of movies, mostly made in the seventies, which gave us real insight into the Matter of America -- the constant tensions between what we believe ourselves to be and what we actually are.The group of absentee cattlemen -- British and North Easternbrahmins -- who make decisions which affect the life of real, working people -- continue to stand for the tensions which still exist between the North Eastern axis of Boston/New York/Washington whose contempt for the American heartland and the struggles of her people have actually increased in recent years. To see this movie as a failed western is to see Apocalypse Now as a failed war movie or Citizen Kane as a failed biopic. There was real anger, real, visceral understanding of the differences between Federal Government corruption and big business decisions and the interests of the people they pretended to represent. Cimino was as instinctive a film maker as Kubrick but unfortunately didn't have the benefit of beingexiled to England, along with Kramer and a few others, by political forces which Hollywood has rarely had the nerve or the intelligence to resist. Hollywood hasn't yet come to terms with the betrayals of McCarthyism and its terrible desertion of black activists like Paul Robeson, let alone its contemptible treatment of serious film makers. Like Orson Wells, Cimino was sacrificed for his politics, not his ego and like Wells he was never able to capture the coherence of his early work.. He was trying to do something as new and important as Ford did in Grapes of Wrath, but the tide was already turning against him and it seems it suited the powers that be to pretend he had 'destroyed' a studio when many other directors have had as bad financial failures (Von Stroheim and the Scarlet Empress bombed as badly, Wizard of Oz was a box office flop when it first appeared, for instance and Hawks and Hepburn lost their contracts after Bringing Up Baby). If the studio had promoted Heaven's Gate for the fine film it was, they probably would have recouped their money by now. People who fail to understand its virtues, fail to understand the cinema itself. They want only sensation and sentimentality, which Hollywood continues to celebrate and reward, not seriousadult cinema.

Kris Kristofferson

An American Masterpiece

Too many people who don't like this film becasue they don't understand the way this film was made. This is the film that broke the rules and as a result, every movie in some way borrows from this one, The acting is phenominal from all cast members and I don't even need to mention the screenplay and direction. This is a film for the ages that one viewing cannot do justice. This isn't the kind of film you watch on the surface only, because no one thing in this movie has a single meaning. "Rosebud" is more than just a sled, or a lost childhood. The film says it best that no one word can describe a man, and that is what Citizan Kane was doing; describing a complicated man from different points of view. This is, indeed, the greatest film made. And on the DVD: The picture is outstanding! I've never seen this film look so good. And for film buffs, the feature commentaries by both Peter Bogdonavich and Roger Ebert are excellent and give you a whole new perspective on the film. The documentary that comes with it, Battle over Citizen Kane is haunting. This movie is a must-see and must-own for anyone who appreciates great filmmaking.
