Heavy Metal ain't easy but it's necessary

It doesn't take a fan to appreciate this movie. Rich and famous people have problems just like you and me. They may have it made but they are human also. The Mighty Metallica is not just a machine, it is comprised of men. It has tons of extras to boot!

I dig this pirates' booty!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely adored this movie. It's visually appealing - Orlando Bloom is hot and the special effects are unreal. This movie has something for everyone. It has action, adventure, and comedy. If you're a Disney fan, then you won't be disappointed!

This film tells such a remarkable story of life, in the jaws of certain death, that you come out of the theatre proud to be part of the species.A brilliant film about two amazing men, whose indomitable spirit I hope I have.

El Hazard - The Magnificent World Boxed Set - movie DVD cover picture
Oh yes.

El-Hazard is, in my opinion, one of the greatest animes ever. The plot is wonderful, the characters are fun, the voice work is great, and the art is fantastic. Just imagine as mildmannered high school student Makoto and his friends are transported to the world of El-Hazard and much hillarity and action and romance and adventure. Also there arn't really any holes in the plot or weird moments that kind of make you go, "huh, that's not quite right," that you sometimes see in anime, except for a couple parts that are likely just a problem in translation. The first seven episodes are, beyond a doubt the best of the set as the box set includes the seven episodes of the origional OVA and the four episodes of OVA 2, and while OVA 2 is somewhat lack luster, and a lot of people don't like it, I enjoyed it greatly. And if you enjoyed the two OVAs you'll probably enjoy the Alternative World, which is a sort of sequal series that takes place shortly after the second OVA. But anyway, overall El-Hazard is a wonderful comical/adventurous romp that will delight viewers.

Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman, Vol. 7 - Zatoichi's Flashing Sword - movie DVD cover picture
The most beloved Samurai of all

This is number seven in the series, and again, absolutely totally entertaining in every facet of filmmaking. Master Ichi pays a visit to a gang boss to thank his daughter for saving his life, and of course gets caught up in one of his more entertaining plots. This boss is pretty much a good boss, and is planning a fireworks show for the people in his area. Another boss, the bad boss, wants to gain control of the concessions at a local river crossing. Now this is a pretty silly plot to say the least, but everything is played out as if this was a good enough reason for a total gang war. There is the usual humor with Master Ichi, that makes his character one of the most beloved in Japanese film history. Many many memorable scenes in this episode, but right at the beginning Ichi is being bothered by a fly as he tries to sleep. He takes out his sword, listens very intensely, and lightening fast raises his sword and slices the fly in two. Precious, to say the least.

Chilis rocked as usual, unbelievable video

The Red Hopt Chili Peppers have become one of, if not the greatest live performers of today. This dvd captures the red hot chili peppers at the peak of their musical careers, and is a necesity for any red hot chili pepeprs fans. Although not listed, there are jams/solos inbetween the listed titles that show off their amazing musical talent. After "give it away" there is a break before they came out for the encore where chad comes out and plays a solo and flea comes out and palys trumpet with him. They did this many times on the By The Way tour and seeing them live was an amazing experience. I definitly recommend you get this dvd, it is jam packed with all of their greatest songs and its definitly one of the better live dvds out there, far exceeding their previous live dvd, "Off The Map."

One of Preston's masterpieces

I'm a devout Preston Sturges fan -- I love all his films, especially "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek" and "Christmas in July" -- his films have no villains -- plot complications arise from misunderstandings, almost never from deliberate villainy or cruelty -- however, in "The Lady Eve" the scene on the honeymoon train trip when Stanwyck humiliates Fonda makes me squirm a bit -- she wants to get revenge and teach him a lesson, but the cruel way she does it is unusual for a Sturges film.

Chan's Best American Movie - Wildly Entertaining Trash

The Shanghai Noon series has been Jackie Chan's best US work so far. Sure it's another formulaic sidekick story (but at least it's Owen Wilson and not the nauseatingly annoying Chris Tucker), and anyone who has seen Chan's earlier movies has seen most of these stunts before. But nuts to that. This is a wildly entertaining piece of pure trash, taking great liberties with historical fact in pursuit of action set-pieces and a laugh (which is fine by me).
Chan and Wilson have great on screen chemistry. Aidan Gillen is a wonderfully one-dimensional villain, and the entire supporting cast do their job admirably.
Grab some popcorn and leave your brain and expectations at the door and you'll have a ball.

The Wiggles - Wiggly Gremlins

This is a great DVD. Just because they made a TV series from this DVD doesn't mean it's a bad Wiggles collection of songs. In fact, this is one of my 3 childrens' favorite Wiggles DVDs and the fact that it inspired an entire season of their show on Disney Channel should tell people that the quality of the music. Some of the best tunes on the project includes the ever infectous:

Lights, Camera, Action!
Hats
Testing 1 2 3
Music Murray
Where's Jeff
Bit By Bit
Anthony's Workshop
Gulp Gulp
Vegetable Soup

I read a lot of adults moaning and griping about this DVD, but the kids still love it despite the whiney big people's grumping; that's where the true success of this project should be measured... in the hearts of the children.

We Will, We Will, Rock You!

The vision of a remarkably authentic looking 14th c. tournament audience chanting and clapping to Queen lets you know right off this is *not* a serious historical film but a fantasy set in a land-of-fable fourteenth century complete with punk dressing lady-fairs, disco dancing at banquets and jousting fans who paint their faces with the armorial devices of their favorite champions and do the wave. Geoffrey Chaucer must be spinning in his fancy, Westminster Abbey sarcophagus - or maybe not, his Canterbury tales aren't exactly noted for historical accuracy or logical consistancy either. This movie is eye candy for the ladies: the hero is blond and gorgeous; the villain dark, sinister and gorgeous; the humorous sidekicks are cute and cuddly and the gallant Black Prince noble and beautiful. 'Lady Jocelyn' isn't bad either, and her costumes get progressively more outrageous as the movie goes on. But the best joke is who the *real* Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein was, (yes there was a real one!)
