I love this serious, and once you get into it you will be addicted to it, the story line is really good, especially that chibiusa and hotaru are back.-One thing that bothers me about the whole Heart collections, is that noone seems to have the pic of the dvd cover. -I'm dying to see what it looks like.

Classical Pilates Technique - The Complete Mat Workout Series (Modified Basic / Basic / Intermediate / Advanced / Super Advanced) - movie DVD cover picture
Simply Excellent!

I have been studying and practicing the Pilates method now for over six months. I've really enjoyed the instruction I've received from other videos, but wanted something to aspire to--and this is it.
In reading some of the other reviews, yes, this DVD does have a fast pace; however, the goal of the Pilates method is for the entire matwork routine to be performed smoothly and with a great sense of flow and rhythm--not as a collection of separate, start-and-stop exercises.
I appreciate that the atmosphere of the workout is not hyped-up, with pounding dance-mix music or a super-perky instructor. The emphasis is only on what's at hand--the workout. I also enjoy the voiced-over instruction as opposed to receiving it from the person who is also demonstrating the movements. The speaker addresses you as though he were in the room with you, checking your form. In this way, it feels very personalized to me.
If you are an absolute beginner, I would suggest that you watch the various levels of the matwork first. Watch it a couple of times, even, maybe trying a couple of the exercises as practice on your own. Once you have the general idea of what the different movements are, then proceed to work with the DVD on your pace and fluidity.
If you already have a foundation in the principles of this exercise method, then this is the DVD to buy to further your ability. It's not watered down, slowed down, or commercialized; it's just Pilates the way Joseph Pilates created it. I myself can't wait to continue working with this DVD to improve my technique and my strength--it's really given me something to shoot for.

Gia - movie DVD cover picture

When I was sitting in my dorm's lounge at 2 AM awaiting the drying of my laundry, I spotted this movie on HBO for the first time. I was instantly captivated. I dared not leave my seat for fear of missing a single moment of this touchingly brilliant movie. At the end, after I sat for a few moments caught in a tearful trance, I checked the TV Guides right away to see when it would come on again, so as to tell my friends. We all are devoted fans of Angelina Jolie and this movie gives her a chance to show us her best! If you haven't seen this movie, then you must! It brings you to levels of emotion that you may have thought were lost. Tragic, yet hopeful "Gia" is what a movie should be.

Indiana Jones is the MAN!

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is the DVD I've been waiting for! Harrison Ford is incredible in the role as Indiana. The scene shots are amazing and the action exciting. One of my top five movies.

This DVD is concert footage of Rza and Kinetic 9 performing with a live band in Germany. The show itself runs about 45 minutes. You can also choose to watch the concert with interview clips of Rza explaining a little about each song before they are performed. There is a part 2 of The MTV diary of Rza and a few other extras mainly focusing on hip-hop in other countries.

Great Movie

I loved this movie after watching it for the first time today. If the price were not so high, I would buy it (I'm running low).
The story was entrancing, fight scenes amazing, and whatever special effects used were good.
Other reviewers said they didn't like things such as the seashell throwing, and the blood spraying, but what did they expect? The main character was a budhist monk, and in feudal Japan, monks didn't drive their cars to the local shrine to pray everyday. Many monks in feudal Japan probably did similar things.
As to the blood spraying, what good samurai movie doesn't have a little spraying blood. Sure it's a bit graphic, but you see that in many samurai/ninja movies.
And finally, I would like to say that the antagonist and protaganist were both demons. It even explained toward the end of the movie why the protaganist (please excuse me if I've switched my terms) was a demon.
One thing I did not like about this movie was that a few things were left un-explained. Nothing majoryly important, a few things I suspect were put there for you to think and wonder about.
All in all, I think this is a great movie as I said in the title of this review.

Lucy and her Hollywood Adventures

This disc set contains a majority of the Hollywood episodes (except John Wayne and return trip home). Lucy's zany schemes to meet a movie star always seem to backfire with Ethel and Fred trying to help her out of a bind before Ricky discovers.
The writing, comedy timing and acting make I Love Lucy timeless.
To have these episodes on DVD is like owning a classic.

A little known fact...

One of my all-time favorite "not big movies" (it's no "Casablanca" or "Lord of the Rings") I've seen this film maybe a dozen times including once in a local movie theater in the Republic of Panama when I was stationed there with the Air Force in the 80's. In Spanish, the title of this wonderful film was "Don't Shoot Me, I'm a Dentist!"

Leonard Bernstein's Candide (Live at Lincoln Center) - movie DVD cover picture
In This Best of All Possible Worlds

Based on the wickedly funny satire by Voltaire, CANDIDE was originally produced on Broadway in 1956. The Leonard Bernstein score was greatly admired, as were the lyrics from an unexpected combination of Richard Wilbur, John Latouche, and Dorothy Parker. Sadly, the script by Lillian Hellman and the production as a whole proved hamfisted, to say the least, and in spite of a legendary performance by Barbara Cook the show closed after a mere seventy three performances.

On-going admiration made the original cast album a favorite in theatre circles, and over the years there have been numerous attempts to revive CANDIDE--but each attempt proved problematic at best. Even when Hellman's script was discarded, the show simply proved impossible to stage... until 2004, when director Lonny Price staged the piece for a limited engagement at Lincoln Center.

Like most post-1956 directors, Price largely discarded the Hellman script. He also went quite a bit further: he makes no effort to "stage" CANDIDE in a traditional style. Placing no less than the New York Philharmonic and Westminister Symphonic Choir in the middle of the stage, using a minimum of props and even fewer costumes, Price has his actors romp through the orchestra and play directly and pointedly to the audience--and the result is theatre at its most theatrical and most uniquely powerful.

The cast is superior. Paul Groves and Kristin Chenoweth offer memorable vocals in the leading roles of Candide and his lady love Cunegonde, and while Chenoweth doesn't manage to best Barbara Cook's memorable performance she at least equals it; in her hands the famous "Glitter and be Gay" proves as comic as it is beautiful. Sir Thomas Allen provides tremendous stability in multiple roles, including the misguided Dr. Pangloss. Patti LuPone is somewhat less effective; although she performs both script and score with the remarkable vocal skills and tremendous aplomb for which she is so famous, she seems faintly miscast as The Old Lady. Even so, this indeed Patti LuPone in full stride, and that compensates for a great deal.

Like most theatre-to-film projects, CANDIDE has the occasional photography problem, but over all film director Fritz Zeilinger captures the excitement of this memorable live performance without major gaffes. If you are a fan of the score who has never seen the play in performance--well, as Dr. Pangloss might say, this is indeed the best of all possible productions. Greatly recommended.
