Ha ha ha! I'm invisible!

What words can describe greatness such as this? Genious. Ageless. Priceless. This movie has everything and anything you could possibly imagine, from Andrew Dice Clay in a video nightmare rental or Arsenio Hall being killed by a VCR. This is not viewing for the average individual. No no. This film is made for the extraoridinary people of the world who would watch anything at 4:35 AM. If only channel surfing really was this fun.

Believing A Man Can Fly...

"There's a strong streak of good in you Superman. But, nobody's perfect. Well..., almost nobody." - Lex Luthor polishes his ego while taunting The Man of Steel in "Superman: The Movie"

One of the best sci-fi films from the 70's, is also one of the better comic book films (only surpassed by the "X-Men" & "Spider-Man" films). Richard Donner directs a faithful big screen adaption to the popular DC Comic of the same name.

Kryptonian peacekeeper, Jor-El has figured out that his home planet of Krypton is on a deadly collision course with its own sun. Although there is no time for a full evacuation, Big J builds a small, yet powerful, rocket placing his only son, baby boy Kal-El, safely into the rocket, launching it & sending it toward a distant planet called Earth.

The rocket arrives, crashing into the state of Kansas, & is found by Jonathan & Martha Kent. They soon find out that Kal has extrodinary powers and decide to adopt the boy (there excuse is Kal-El is a nephew of Martha's whose parents have died) and raise him as their own. Kal gets a name change to Clark Kent & has to downplay his powers as not to draw attention. In his late teens, Clark goes on a self-discovery journey finding out who he really is and why he was brought to Earth. Enter Superman, Clark's true identity, who stands for truth, justice & the American way. His first duty is to stop, what would become his main arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor from a deadly real-estate scam.

Richard Donner does a great job at directing (he would later go on to direct all 4 "Lethal Weapon" films, as well as, "The Lost Boys"). He was offered the job after the success he had with "The Omen".

The cast is truly top notch. Margot Kidder, & Christopher Reeve would go into typecasting hell because of these roles, but, I can't imagine really anyone else potraying these characters (Nicholas Cage? Ashton Kutcher? No f**king way! these guys were supposedly attached to play the new "Superman" that is still, as of this review, trying to get flight clearance). Gene Hackman has some of the best lines in the film thanks to Tom Mankewiez's snappy screenplay.

The effects aren't as great as they once were (the scene where Superman stops the dam flood with the rock avalanche looks fake & some of the rear-projection flying was getting a bit old near the end). But, the image of Supe's drilling into the concrete and walking through Luthor's underground traps to get to his lair is the classic sequence from the film, as well as, Superman's flyby in space that ends the movie (that small scene is used in the other 3 "Superman" films as well).

The DVD has a lot of great features, including screen tests, featurette's on the history of the film, and, what I like most of all, an isolated score track to listen to John Williams classic, legendary score, while watching the film. The film is remastered in 5.1 Dolby Digital with optional audio commentary with director and screenwriter to the film. It sounds awesome!

I do give 2 strikes to the DVD presentation. One, the film is a two sided disk, with the feature film on side 1, with the special features on side 2. Warner should have went dual-layered with this (I hate flipper disks!). Two, the packaging is in the form of those cheap, cheesy, pain in the as* cardboard snap cases, that has become Warner Home Video's trademark claiming that its made from recycled paper and plastic (I don't care!! I want a regular DVD case, so that it fits in with the rest of my collection!!).

Eitherway, "Superman:The Movie" is an indestructible film that's worth owning.

PHENOMINAL!!!

Moulin Rougue was an enormous surprise to me. I walked into the theatre not knowing this was to be a musical! Nicole Kidman's singing talent really shocked me! I was so surprised to hear such a sweet voice. Ewan MacGregor is just plain adorable, and his angel voice makes him drop dead gorgeous! The imagery and style of this film really blew me away! I would reccommend this movie to ANYONE looking for a great time at the movies! You'll be singing the songs for days!

this movie deserves the hype

most movies don't deserve the hype but this movie was great. I knew nothing about Seabiscuits story and the story of the people he touched but after watching this movie I plan on reading the book. I really liked how part of this movie was kind of like a Ken Burn's film and I thought all the actors did a great job. This is a movie for everyone

Frank and Ella....ahhhhhh......

I was given this for a birthday present and as far as I am concerned if this was all I got then I would have been satisifed. Frank Sinatra's voice was still incredible in this 1967 special before it began to deline in only about 3 years. His rendition of Old Man River is one of my favorites. So dark and full of emotion. He also swings and makes memorable some "throw-away" numbers like day In, Day Out and Get Me to the Church on Time. Ella Fitzgerald easily mathces him in this special, however, her smooth and velevetty voice being pure Heaven to listen to. I definately recommend this if you are a fan of either of these two musical geniuses!

Amazing!!!A must buy if Zeppelin fan!!!

This extensive DVD captures Led Zeppelin live and in their prime. Consisting of two DVDS, it has every hit and classic they ever produced and is truly magical. Next, it has incredible sound quality which to me is most important. Finally, it shows them at shows like at MSG, Earl's Court, Knebworth, and others shows. If your a fan, do yourself a favor and buy this amazing DVD.

Ben's only claim to fame besides Jen Anniston

I saw this movie for the first time last year, and I completely fell in love with the storyline as well as the characters. I'll admit, Im a sucker for the underachieving genius movies (Finding Forrester, Searching for Bobby Fischer), but I thought this movie had other qualities to it. Matt's best friend actually wanted him to move away and be somebody. I thought about that for a while after the movie ended, and realized that although it was probably unlikely that your best friend would want you to move away, true friends will do that. This story is not just a testiment to underachievers everywhere, but to friendship in general. I would recommend this DVD to anyone over the age of 17, and for those younger I would recommend watching it on TV because it is full of profanity.

The Crow - Salvation (Dimension Collector's Series) - movie DVD cover picture
Get It if you like Crow movies

Being a fan of the original crow I was quite excited about THE CROW: SALVATION. Eric Mabius does an exellent job portraying Alex Corvis. The Thing I like about this movie the most is that he did not try to copy any of the previous crow perfomances. He really went out and made the role his own. Unlike Brandon Lee's character who was depressed and very somber through the movie Mabius's character was in awe of the power he posessed. The action sequences were great, the acting was good. All in all this may actually be my favorite movie in the series. Well hopefully the next crow: The Crow: Lazerus, as it is being called at the moment will be as good. Hopefully DMX can pull it off! All in all I would definately suggest picking this up as soon as possible. It has some cool extra features as well. Behind the paint: a short clip of the make-up process, A behind the scenes segment, as well as Who's that bird: a short feature about the actual birds used in the trilogy.
