This movie sizzles with excitement! The chemistry between Zeta-Jones and Banderas is absolutely mesmerizing! The flamenco dance and the sword fight between the two were enough to keep me enthralled. Anthony Hopkins is at the top of his game as well. A thoroughly enjoyable movie for all! My pick for favorite movie of 1998, and the only gift I asked for for Christmas was this video!

The Greatest Movie Of All Time

The first time I ever saw A Bronx Tale I fell in love with it. It quickly became my favorite movie of all time. I go to West Virginia University and I made almost my entire floor watch it and all of them thanked me and said that it was one their favorites as well. De Niro proves that he can play more than a tough guy in this movie. I find myself reciting lines from this movie very often. I cannot wait to get it back from my friend to watch it again. Take an Italian's word for it, if you buy this movie, you will not be disappointed.

A surprising story...

They said on TV that this film was based on a true story and that immediately made me think that someone in this film will have to die. So I was prepared for that, but I was really quite surprised in terms of how the story developed. Usually when this type of film is made the main character would have left earth suddenly and too early. You feel really upset after seeing it and all the injustice made against this particular person and that hasn't been made right under their time here with us, living, breathing. This film however left me feeling comforted for his/her person and what he/she was given from his/her girlfriend. At the same time it rightfully disturbed my mind, in that way that you think such a thing should never have happened and how long will it take us humans before we learn to not interfere with other peoples right to themselves and being they way that suits them? Of course on terms where it doesn't hurt anybody else. Sure, you could argue that the perpetrator in this case was actually hurt, but no you don't get to go around hurting others because of your own hearts sorrow due to another not wanting the same as you...
As for the acting on Hilary's part - it's a piece of art! You would have to work real hard to make such a convincing portrait, she's brilliant.
Hilary and this unusual development of the story makes it well-worth seeing.

beautiful moving movie the best of godard along with weekend

this movie will surprise most godard fans accustomed to his formalist approach to moviemaking. it is not that the movie is not innovative in its form but the great thing is that this seems to be one of the movies in which godard really cared about its characters which cannot be said for the more famous breathless which not surprinsingly was most influential in rather shallow filmakers such as scorsese and tarantino. this movie moved me so much it made me cry. the camera just stood there to let the viewer see inside the girl's soul. but the movie moves not because of the music or the exagerated acting. this movie actually resembles a documentary and comes even closer to on when it features cold facts about lives of prostitutes around the time of the filming. the form with its long takes, still camera and closups resmbles the technique of directors like bresson or carl dreyer. this simplicity is what above all makes it be the extraordinary film that it is. also theres very few of the sometimes childish quotations a lot of people seem to dont like about godard movies.

Hawaii Five-O - movie DVD cover picture

There are a lot of Hawaii Five-O fans out there who have been waiting for years for a DVD release of the episodes. H5O is still aired on some regional TV stations, but the majority of these stations show episodes where significant portions of the show have been cut. Columbia House released a dozen or so episodes in VHS a few years ago, but hardcore H5O fans want more... ALL the episodes, UNCUT, and on DVD!!! The timing of this release is no doubt related to the buzz created by the H5O movie and the new NBC series "Hawaii". If you have watched episodes of this new NBC series and have never watched a H5O episode, please be aware that these two series are very different. Perhaps the only thing they have in common is the breathtaking scenery of Hawaii and the elements of local culture that are interwoven into the plots. The original H5O series was so successful (a twelve year original episode run) because it was intellgently written and provided for clever plots and unexpected turns with very human characters that were clearly good or evil. The new "Hawaii" series resembles more of a comic book; a lot of shoot 'em up scenes, clearly more violence than H50, and always intending to have multiple plot threads that are resolved in a sixty-minute show. The new Hawaii series is just OK, but for a real treat, get the H5O on DVD and watch a quality TV series that is a timeless treasure...

Best Picture of the year is an insult! This was the Best Picture of the last 5 years. This is a movie that only Clint Eastwood could get made! How sad. In the 1970's movies like this were made all the time. This movie reminded me that not all movies made today are junk food! Clint Eastwood did a great job with the screenplay! In this movie, it dares to ask questions that no Hollywood movie has done in years! On top of that its a smart movie and never answers them! Further more its not preachy! The movie shows us real people having real problems! Days later after I saw this movie I was still thinking about it! DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR SEE IT!

eye candy for one and all

okay, so it was a cheesy, free love, somewhat confusing movie but with all that eye candy, psychotic little twins, and the Great Tyrant seemingly needing to seduce everyone who may enter her castle, it is well worth watching..repeatedly as a matter of fact.

A beautiful example of an important issue

My favorite thing about this film, next to excellent directing (yet again) by Ron Howard and another camillion role by Russell Crowe, is the way it so beautifully illustrates an important issue. We all have things that we have to "deal" with inside ourselves - some more blatant than others. And each day we have to choose how we are going to deal with that thing today - it never goes away. For some of us, it is an addiction that we are dealing with. For others, it may be a behavioral pattern that we have developed. Every time a temptation or a situation arises to test that particular thing, we have to decide how we are going to deal with that.
Nash, the character that Crowe plays, has to deal with such a problem. And in this film we get to see how he chooses to deal with it - each and every day. Many of us like to think that these issues will just go away. But what most of us find, is that they do not go away and we have to choose over and over again how we are going to deal with our issues.

Dawn Anna - movie DVD cover picture

Dawn Anna is one of the best made-for-television movies I have seen. The movie centers around single-mom Dawn Anna, a subsitute teacher who struggles to support her family financially. She finally lands a wonderful teaching job at a local school. In order to make ends meet, she agrees to coach the girl's volleyball team as well (her two daughters played on Dawn's team at different periods of time). Dawn meets "Bink"-a nice gentlemen that she met at the school. They date, and fall in love. Dawn discovers she has a brain disorder, and with the support of her kids and Bink, she recovers as best as she can. Although she will have lingering effects of the disorder, she continued to coach the volleyball team. The end of the movie shifts it's focus slightly-to Dawn's youngest daughter, Lauren Townsend. Lauren is now in high school, and is captain of the volleyball team. She's a straight A student at the local high school. I would tell you more, but I don't want to spoil the ending for you!
