Kissing A Fool - movie DVD cover picture
Great humor!

I watched this movie on satellite and now I wish to buy it on DVD. Too bad the DVD doesn't have any extras, that wouldn't hurt. The movie has a very interetsing plot. I sincerely didn't expect the ending it had. David Schwimmer is very well in this movie. Specially touching is his last scene in which he displays emotions that are very rare in men. Even though you are used to seeing him as the good old guy in the TV hit show Friends, you don't think about Ross for one minute. The storyline might seem predictable but it actually isn't. The script is interesing too and no character sounds unreal. David Schwimmer is surprising in this role and Mili Avital is a charming and talented actress.
I recommend this movie for men and women that like to watch romances that makes you stop and think about your own life.

Life as a House (New Line Platinum Series) - movie DVD cover picture
This old house.....

Kevin Kline plays a man who has four months to live and decides to use that length of time to bridge the gap between him and his troubled teenage son, Sam (played by Hayden Christensen, pre-Anakin Skywalker) and build the house he had always planned. Sam's mother (Kristin Scott Thomas) is at her wits end with her drug using, angst ridden son and agrees to let him stay the summer with his father. While tearing down his old, shack of house (that clearly annoys the neighbors) Kline's character,George, tries to reach out to his son and work through years of neglect that he regrets. Clearly, as he tears down the walls of his old house, he begins to tear down the walls of hurt that his son feels. The rest of the story revolves around the building of the house, involving neighbors---Mary Steenburgen and Jenna Malone, as a mother and daughter who live next door and Scott Bakula, as a good hearted police man. Kline gives a very good performance as does Scott Thomas. The chemistry between the two is very good. Hayden Christensen shows us that he should have more acting in him once his stint as Darth Vader is over. He was very good as a trouble young man in this film. This film will be well worth your time. Give it a try

I think this is a great movie! I've seen it several times and I still haven't gotten sick of it. The plot has many twists and turns, and i don't think it is at all predictable. I'd reccomend it to anyone looking for a good suspenseful flick. Happy Easter!

Babylon 5 - The Complete Fifth Season - movie DVD cover picture
Best of All Seasons?

I had ordered this season when it first came out and due to the way things wrapped up at the end of season 4 and the lackluster reviews about this one, I let it sit on my shelf and collect dust without having watched it. Til now.

I don't understand the complaints. Season 5 is absolutely brilliant and contains some of the best episodes of the whole show. Turns out, there really was a lot more to talk about. I'm not going to spoil anything by going into details, but if you got seasons 1-4 and were debating over 5, I say get it -- it's fantastic. Sure, the roster switches up a little, but the show is as good as ever, sometimes better. If anything, it proves the team behind this show could have gone on a lot longer before they really ran out of material.

Good stuff.

The Endurance - Shackleton's Legendary Antarctic Expedition - movie DVD cover picture
That of which men are capable...

"The Endurance"--the saga of the struggle of Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew to survive the Antarctic wastes--is more amazing than any plot Hollywood has ever devised, and every word of it is true. The closest real-life equivalent I can think of is the story of Apollo 13--and whereas that crisis lasted three days and involved three men, the story of the Endurance lasted two years and involved 28. The film footage and still photos by Frank Hurley, Shackleton's official photographer, add an eerie, you-are-there quality to the bleakly gorgeous, modern-day footage of Antarctica taken by director George Butler. (That so much of Hurley's film survived is in itself incredible.) While the courage and stamina of the crew were amazing, I also can't forget the tales of all-too-human pettiness among them. I'll always remember the snooty, aristocratic Col. Thomas Orde-Lee, who disdained rowing but eagerly bailed out his boat (rowing was for commoners, but bailing was heroic). I also can't forget Shackleton's total lack of forgiveness for mutinous ship's carpenter Chippy McNish, even after McNish repented of his rebellion and took actions which essentially saved the lives of all the crew. In showing both the grandeur and the pettiness of the human spirit--as well as the mercilessness of the perpetual Antarctic winter--"The Endurance" is one of the greatest stories of exploration, as well as one of the best movies of 2001.

The Year Without a Santa Claus/Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey/Rudolph's Shiny New Year - movie DVD cover picture
The Best Holiday Puppetmation Ever!

THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUSE is my absolute favorite Arthur Rankin Jr. & Jules Bass production. It has everything a Christmas story could want; action, story, suspense, villains, magical creatures and above all, music.
Written by William Keenan the story tells of the year that Santa got sick and could not do his legendary Christmas Eve ride. As a result Mrs. Santa Clause sets things in motion to make this right. You see, Santa believes no one cares about Christmas anymore. Mrs. Santa Clause will prove him wrong.
Told and song by the wonderful talents of Shirley Booth (Come Back Little Sheba, Hazel) she tries hard to convince Santa, voiced by Mickey Rooney (Lady And The Tramp II, The Fox and the Hound, The Black Stallion), to see that kids need him all over the world.
Who could forget the incredible talents of Dick Shawn (Captain Eo, The Producers) as the incredible arrogant and proud wizard of the chills Mr. Snow Miser. George S. Irving (Underdog, Tennessee Tuxedo) also incredibly voiced the not so even-tempered brother Mr. Heat Miser
This is a great story and a lot of fun for adults as well as kids. This one will make you smile without even noticing it. This little gem has clever writing and great songs throughout the whole piece. Buy this one too!
Also on this DVD are two other stories RUDOLF'S SHINNY NEW YEAR and NESTOR THE LONG EARED CHRISTMAS DONKEY. Both are attempts at the originals of trying to get quick stories and clever song s out but they lack the energy and creativity of The Year Without A Santa Clause and the every-popular Santa Clause Is Coming To Town. Shall We Dance (Japanese Version) - movie DVD cover picture
A wonderful movie to watch

I wished that I had seen it from the beginning when I saw it on cable. But I found it to be a great movie because it's sometimes hard to express your true self in front of people who know you. The main character in the movie was a bored businessman dealing with the demands of work and family. Dancing for him took him away from the daily grind. His co-worker, a geek, transformed himself into another person when he was on the dance floor. I thought it was funny that he could wear a wig and impersonate a sex symbol. But as I was watching this movie, it is obvious that people will accept you for who you are or not like you at all. In addition to being accepted, it also is about looking deep within oneself and finding that true self.
