Neon Genesis Evangelion - Death & Rebirth - movie DVD cover picture
Great for fans, not for newbies!

This is a good movie! Wanna know why? Read on.If you've seen the first 24 episodes of Evangelion then you've seen MANY shots from Death, the first portion of this release. Yes, that's right, this film is mostly a recap of the TV series, but you have not experienced a recap like this! Believe me! The reason: the order of the scenes is non-linear, so what you get is a retelling that is out of chronological order; instead, certain characters and themes develope one at a time through related scenes that were once episodes apart. On top of that, you get a number of sequences that WERE NOT in the ADV release of the show, scenes which are available in Japan in the fabled Evangelion Director's Cut Episodes (Episodes 21-24 with some redone scenes and other completely new shots. These were commisioned AFTER the completion of the show; they are not outtakes. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise). If you can't get a fansub of the Director's Cut, or are intrigued by the idea of a non-linear recap, GET THIS MOVIE! Additionally, there is an awesome 30 minute preview of the finalw of the show, End Of Evangelion (this section of the movie is called Rebirth). If you hated the infamous first ending, you should be blown away by this one. If you loved the original closing (like I did), be sure to give the new one a whirl. It's just as good as those original episodes. If you can't wait until the End Of Evangelion release, then Death & Rebirth is a must have (just for Rebirth). All in all, there is but one flaw in this amazing package and it's a minor one. Despite the fact that Death is a recap, do not think that it can be used as an introduction to the show. It is completely unintelligable to anyone who doesn't know what's going on! To these people, it would be like reading the pages of a novel in random order. Not fun (or so I imagine... really!). But, like I said, it's a minor flaw to anyone who's seen the entire show.

Rarest of movies

Rushmore stands alone among movies about young teenagers at a time in their life when anything is possible. I know that sounds cliche, but how else could someone genuinely believe they could attract a woman twice his age who is a teacher at his school (Rosemary Cross)? If Max Fischer were a few years older, he would be considered delusional, but his age forgives his optimism.

Bill Murray's character, Herman Blume, is an unhappy old man who can probably remember a time when he believed that things like money or family would make him happy. Max and Rosemary Cross manage to fill two voids in his life, love and the belief in things that can make his life worthwhile.

If this were a stupid teenage fantasy movie, Max might actually get Rosemary to sleep with him, but it is far to smart for that. In the end, all three main characters benefit from knowing eachother, even if it was not the way they wanted.

What a terrific video!!!

This video gets better and better with each viewing. My little girl knows this video - "it's the one with Wags the Dog" - and she's right. Wags is featured quite often in this program, as are the dancers and the other characters. I must say, though, that the choreography in this video far exceeds some of the others Wiggles programs. There are great numbers of course, but the centerpiece of the show is that the Big Red Car is stuck in place and they need to find someone to fix it, so they ask Wags, and he can't, and they ask different others, but they can't, and finally, Captain Feathersword tries his luck, and fails and gets exhaust in his face.

Towards the end of the video, of course, there has to be a solution, and the "mechanic" is called, and he encourages the Wiggles that the Big Red Car "runs" on music, so they enlist the aid of everyone in the cast.

There are some really unique ensemble pieces, such as "Wags does the Tango," "Zardo's Dance," and a few other dance numbers which really make the video great. Then there's "Go Captain Feathersword Go," filmed outside, with the Captain and his crew on a pirate ship, and the other dancers on the dock.

This is a terrific video, and it's highly recommended for the whole family!!!

Mr Anderson, we've been waiting for you.

The Matrix Revolutions is an incredible sci-fi masterpiece. It is full of action, plot, philosophy, and mystery. The third movie of this series is when the battle for Zionoccurrs and the war begins. As the war is happening, Agent Smith has made everyonein the Matrix into a copy of himself. He too is becoming a threat to mankind.Meanwhile, Neo believes that to save Zion, he must travel to the machine world to makea deal with the machines. I believe that Revolutions is the best of the 3 movies and is one of the greatest sci-fi stories ever written. Revolutions is a must-see in the theatres and amust-buy on video!!

Fantastic show but problems with the DVDs.

Of course this is a fabulous show, no doubts there. But I have had a lot of problems getting my hands on a complete set of DVDs.

I bought two copies (one at Best Buy and one at FYE). The first set was completely missing Disk 4. The case was there but when I opened it up to watch it - no disk! The second set had two Disk 3's. After returning them to the respective stores, I've ordered it online and am hoping that I will eventually get to see Disk 4.

I have never had a problem purchasing a DVD set before and it's now happened to me twice. So I'm posting to warn others to be sure and check to make sure all their DVDs are accounted for. Very strange.

Outstanding as Usual

You just can't go wrong with a Walt Disney film. It captivates the imagination in both children and adults of all ages. Parents can always count on Disney for entertaining their children. My 12 month old son laughed and giggled at the wizards battle. How cute is that!?!

Nothing short of excellent !!!

Pink Floyd's "Live At Pompeii" video is absolutely brilliant. The mysterious background of the Pompeii amplitheater is the perfect background for the Floyd's dreamy sounds of "Echoes" & "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun". The candid interviews add an interesting touch of the groups interaction with each other & the recording industry.
