Great Entertainment

What a pleasure to see Nancy Sinatra's TV special on DVD! The picture is beautiful and the sound great. The background commentary by Nancy and director Jack Haley Jr. is very informative. Both have a great sense of humor! Nancy has always been underrated so hopefully this release will gain her the respect she deserves. She has a very pleasant voice. If you loved the 60's pop, grab this DVD and enjoy it. Great fun and a great talent!

Dynamic Mixture

Dust is a dynamic mixture of love & hate, attack & defense, power & helplessness, reality & fantasy, lust & rejection, expectations & cruel reality, belief & skepticism, boiled all together in a furnace up in the Macedonian highlands, powered by unimaginable greed for gold and power. It is an adventure which will take you back in time, when people could loose everything in a split second, and then back in present, just enough to help you re-evaluate what you have just seen with today's sense and criteria... Real artistic refreshment from the all-present commercial & worthless Hollywood plastic. Five thumbs up for this excellent movie from Milcho Manchevski!

Summing up

Life is Beautiful personifies hope. Skeptics have bashed itsimproper portrayal of humankind's most devastating era, while mostproclaim it "the best ever." While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you must realize that they are all right.
Bengini's film is about a family he does not want to see destroyed. After he goes to all lengths to win the heart of his princess, why would he want to lose their child? This is why he develops the point game - to keep his son from exposing himself to the guards... Many argue that the movie too cynically portrays the events of the Holocaust. While that may be a valid statment, it should be coupled with the fact that the movie portrays only one isolated family's struggle in both pre-Holucast Italy and occupied Italy. The scene I found most unexpected is near the end ... It really made me realize that the US played a huge effort in bringing peace and an end to this destruction of human life and culture. It was here that I realized this movie was really about an international struggle for peace and happiness. This is where I cried. All in all, I would reccomend this movie to anyone who can stomach seeing characters suffer emotional (and sometimes physical) pain and agony... Because your stomach will be hurting from all the laughing. END

The Heart of a Father and Daughter love!

I have always loved Steve Martin, and that is no exception with this movie. Martin's portrayal of the father's mid-life crisis is great; funny without being overplayed. Kimberly Williams is fabulous in this movie. I think it is sad that we did not see her in more movies following this one. Her performance is captivating and quickly makes you fall in love with her character. You feel her wedding excitement and nervousness. Martin Short adds greatly to the film in his hilarious role as the wedding coordinator.
The story line is obviously not overcomplicated, but it still keeps you involved and interested in what will happen next. A solid cast and great direction make this a true treat to watch.
I LOVE this movie, and am do glad to see it come out on DVD since my VHS copy is practically worn out, and I can finally see it in widescreen again. Get it, you will love it.

The best James Bond knock-off from the Sixties!

If you like James Bond, get this movie.
Yes, this is the best of all the Bond knock-offs produced in the mid-to-late Sixties, and there were a lot of them! Unlike spoofs like Modesty Blaise and Casino Royale, Deadlier Than the Male is actually a good movie in its own right. The production values are higher than most other sub-Bond spy films of the period (although nowhere near as high as those of Mr. Bond himself), the acting is good, the action is good, and the script is witty. Elke Sommer (at her absolute hottest!) steals the show as a voluptious assassin, but Richard Johnson makes a darn good hero, too. His character's relationship with his nephew is quite well-done, and a scene where the nephew brings a lady back to his uncle's apartment is a comedic hightlight (somewhat reminiscent of The Pink Panther). The murders are all very creative (think Avengers) and rather violent for the time period. The setpieces are great, especially the climax where hero Bulldog Drummond faces the villain (an amazing Nigel Green) on a giant chessboard filled with oversize pieces. If you like Sixties James Bond movies, or the Pink Panther movies, or TV shows like The Avengers, you'll like Deadlier Than the Male. (The Walker Brothers theme song is amazing, too, on par with many of the great Bond themes!) All in all, a great Bond-style action-comedy. Deadlier Than the Male is to Thunderball as XXX is to Die Another Day (only both those sixties movies are better to their 2002 counterparts). Bond in everything but name. (And budget.)
I'm so glad this movie is finally on DVD! As far as I know, it had never been officially released even on VHS before, so all I'd seen previously was a poor-quality bootleg. The dvd offers no features, and the print is a bit scratchy at times, but the widescreen transfer looks nice and it's infinitely superior to the bootlegs! I'd like to see the sequel, Some Girls Do, released as well, though it's nowhere near as good as this one.

This DVD is wonderful! This past weekend, my husband and I watched it, and even though we had seen it before on television, seeing it unedited brought on even more gales of laughter.

Faerie Tale Theatre on DVD

After years of waiting, Faerie Tale Theatre fans can finally own the series on DVD. Shelley Duvall's series originally appeared on Showtime 20 years ago and featured well-known and rising stars of the time. The series' enthusiastic interpretations of beloved fairy tales has made it a cult classic. Better yet, the DVD prices are affordable, especially after the high prices the used VHS copies have been earning in recent years.

About this episode:

Abandoned by their parents, a brother and sister are lost in the woods and stumble across a fantastic cottage. Unfortunately, a witch lives in it and she doesn't want to keep her houseguests for long. This is one of the scarier of the Faerie Tale Theatre episodes, especially since young children play the roles and Joan Collins plays a scary witch, but it's a children's favorite nevertheless.

It's a movie that shocks you and yet, you love it!

I did not want to see this movie when I first heard about, saw the previews, and heard "Lady Marmalade". But after realizing that I recognized actors/actresses in the movie, I decided to go see it with a friend. I must say, this movie was one in a million. No, it will never be a classic, but it is definetly a movie you have to see. Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor were brillant and the music was the best! I never expected the lead characters to sing in the movie, nor did I expect it to be more like a musical drama than just a drama. Heart-breaking and hillarious, shocking and suprising, "Moulin Rouge" is a movie a highly recommend to anyone who loves great romances. This movie is nothing short of one.

Oh...She may not act the greatest But she still is Great!

Alright,I have been a Mariah fan from the beggining. (...) O.K. the movie could've been much better! I will admit..But it's not all Mariah's fault, there are producers, directors and let's not forget co-stars to blame as well you shouldn't pin it all on her. (...) True the CD had real bad luck from the beggining. But the amazing ballad "Never Too Far" would have been a great tribute song to all the men and women involved and having to deal with the loss of a loved one. I don't care what anyone says I still give my Mariah 5 stars and always will. As long as she's singing I will be buying. She is the best and that's all there is too it. (...)
