Goku is finally a SUPER SAIYAN!

The transformation of Goku into a Super Saiyan is my favorite part in the whole series. I don't know how to describe the feeling. You really have to see the whole saga because it leads up to this very moment and you'll appreciate it a lot more. There's lots of extras and a pretty good menu. I really don't reccomend this unless you've already seen these episodes or you've seen the episodes leading up to it.

The best workout tape I own

I do intense running and weight training and always thought aerobic videos did not do anything for my heart rate. I thought I would try this for a nice alternative to running a few times a week. I have never done a Billy Blanks tape before but was happy that it did seem challenging. I definitely sweat but I wish that it was 100% cardio during the entire tape. There were a few down times which could have been spent doing more cardio. It was great for balancing and using inner core muscles; something cannot be strenghthened with running and weight training.

Great Movie!

Well I watched this tape (VHS) last night after it arrived from Amazon (only just released in the UK) and I can confirm that it is excellent. The quality could not be better on DVD I am convinced of that. I bought the VHS because my nephews (Who were not permitted to watch it in cinemas here) will want to see it. I have set them the task of READING THE HOBBIT first as I think this excellent introduction will make them more prepared for the movie release which can be quite frightening I think. So we shall see how they cope with THE HOBBIT and take it from there. Anyway folks...for those 10 people States Side who still buy VHS, It's absolutely excellent and of course save for the extras that so often are the selling point of the DVD medium...you are missing nothing. Cheerio.

Teachable Moment

I am a science teacher and this is the best movie to show to a 6th grade class. Every year they fall in love with the devotion these students have for science, and how they over-come peer pressure too. I love this movie for many reasons; my students love this movie, and so will yours!

lovely film

Coming from a man whose favorite movie is The Godfather II, I was shocked at how well this movie worked for me. I found the story very original, the acting brilliant, and the theme touching. Cheers for Waking Ned Devine!

This is where Noir goes from Good to Awesome

The first two volumes of Noir were good. If you're reading this you've most likely seen them. They had great action and the best music I've ever heard. I don't usually notice the music much, but it seems almost like a character in Noir. The music is what gives the action scenes a lot of their artistic style. Vol. 3 continues this. But it also adds Chloe, the third of the main characters. She seems to have more presence than Mirielle or Kirika. Chloe brings a certain style (and a bit of humor) to Noir and her presence makes the series infinitely better.

A powerful, provocative film ;deserving of wider recognition

This was a simple yet powerful film. I had to ask myself why I had not heard more about it several years ago. One is initially struck by the quality of the acting. Rena Owen and Temuera Morrison are naturals. You are immediately drawn into their struggles. These struggles go beyond family conflict and provide a beautiful contrast between their rich cultural history and poor living conditions.
The only caution I would give regarding this film is that it is not for the faint of heart. It is very intense and violent at times. But it is also depicts the great caring shown by the characters. That is what makes it so believable.

The O.C. - The Complete Second Season - movie DVD cover picture
California, here we come again!

The second brilliant season of "The OC" is true to form and typically blends halarious comedy with its at times controversal drama. Though perhaps not as consistant as its first flawless season, "Season Two" is nevertheless a compelling watch.

Picking up where we left out awesome foursome: Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie) is back in his hometown of Chino; Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) has been blackmailed into living with her mother, for whome she has much hatred; Seth Cohen (Adam Brody), distraught and lost after his best friend's departure, has run away to Portland; leaving his girlfriend Summer ROberts (Rachel Bilson) behind in Newport.

Following the resolutions of these situations, come many more situations! These include: A long lost relative of the Cohens, a lesbian relationship, an ex-con coming to stay, a drug overdose, a near-rape, a divorce, a death and a shooting! Enough? 'Course not! I've merely skimmed the surface!

This season, perhaps a bit more than "Season One" takes note on some very prominant issues in teenagers' lives. Issues including, homosexuality, rape violence are explored. I love that "The OC" goes into these relavant issues, as the majority of viewers are teenagers whome must face them in real life.

Having said that, I also like how "The OC" always manages to have that comical edge to it. The screenplay, by Josh Schwartz, is full of more fantastic one-liners and wonderfully funny scenes, bringing out that "OC" style of never taking itself TOO seriously!

Finally, the music as per usual, is fantastic. This is particularly thanks to the addition of "The Bait Shop," a regular hang-out spot for the gang where bands perform live. It adds that extra "OC-ish" element to the show. The music definately has more of a prominant role in bringing out emotion and other moods to their full.

And without giving too much away the finale of this 24-episode is, in my opinion, is the best "OC" episode ever made. THe ending left me utterly paralysed and craving for the third season!

I thouroughly enjoyed this second season. My only criticism would maybe be that it started out a little dull, by it regained itself and finaled to a truly stunning finish! Through its great script-writing to the contagious music, "The OC" will be around for a little while yet!
