Godzilla's arch nemesis at the box office.

Apparently, this the was original Japanese version released in Japan of the dubbed rubber monsterfest ' Gammera the Invincible.' It's really cool to see these movies( Japanese monster movies ) subtitled in widescreen. It gives these movies a respectability, not like the crappy home video versions of the last four Godzilla movies. See this movie the way it was meant to be seen.

Hasn't been a Sci Fi\Action flick this good in decades!!

Yes, a lot of CGI is used. So what?? This movie is designed to do one thing, ENTERTAIN. This movie was flat out fun! I defy anyone to name a movie that has come out recently that is more fun than this one. The answer is, there isn't one.

You Gotta See This

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore The Hunt For Red October (the movie itself I give 4 or 4.5 stars), but there are just a couple of things that niggle with the DVD (Region 4). DVDs are, or at least they have come to be considered, a step forward from the theatrical release. They usually provide just that little bit more than the theatrical release. Here the additional features include the trailer and subtitles for the hearing impaired (which, as I'll get to in a minute, is a very good thing). A bit light on for what has become standard in the additional features department. Okay that's not such a big deal, maybe a little bit of a let down, nothing more. As is the failure to fix up the SFX muck-ups in the end sequence - during the moonlit ride up the river in Maine. It's a shame that Industrial Light and Magic, who did the effects, weren't able (for what ever reason) to go back and fix-up the bad overlapping where trees and the river are seen passing through a ghostly opaque Alex Baldwin. And we know from the Special Edition of The Empire Strikes Back, that ILM now have the technology to fix up this problem. Okay, again this is not a problem, and indeed it could be argued that this maintains some integrity within the film. But the DVD doesn't get bonus stars/points over and above the theatrical release from me. Can it lose some? Well yes. Firstly, the picture quality could've been better. Secondly, if you're going to have subtitles that translate spoken Russian could we get it right? I mean, it was entirely possible to get them right on the theatrical release. In fact, it was even possible to get it right with the "Subtitles for the hearing impaired", so why can't they replicate the subtitles from the original movie into the standard play on the DVD? It does make a difference when lines are missing. For example, the significance of having Dallas fly out of the water kind of loses impact (and bemusement) when you don't know what the Russian sailor is yelling out (i.e., "The Captain has frightened them out of the water!"). A real shame, a little slack and a little lame (was the person re-typing out all the Russian subtitles doing a little creative re-editing - well they shouldn't have - tut tut tut). If you've never seen it before, by all means buy this DVD, especially if it's the same price as the video because the sound is better on the DVD and it truly is a wonderful film. Just watch it with the hearing impaired subtitles on, because the ones on the standard play, well they [are disappointing]. The DVD of this 4 star film, gets 2.5 stars from me.

It's good! Honestly!

This is one of the few television programs I would have actually liked to have worked on, simply to be associated with it somehow. Yes, it's that good. The Pluto campaign is what drew me into the series back when it first aired, and I was thoroughly impressed. It follows the book more closely than the movie, but don't expect a pure translation. Harsh dialogue and human casualties have been severely toned down, but bug deaths seem to be more abundant than ever. What I found most interesing about the Pluto episodes in general was the 'flashback' segments, detailing PFC Rico's boot camp experiences (If I remember correctly, these were in the Pluto episodes, but I might be mistaken). It was in these flashbacks that the show briefly let Heinlen's fascist society shine through... this can be confusing for the uninitiated, but a nice touch for anyone familiar with the storyline. The storyline itself is very engaging, and the situations relatively believable. This in particular lets you get to know the characters and appreciate their plight moreso than you ever could in the movie. Some might complain about the CGI detail being lacking, but it is actually quite good, and seems to facilitate the gritty nature of the squad-level combat around which the show revolves. Overall, this is an excellent introduction to the finest CGI production ever... one which I can easily envision holding it's own in the box office (and beating the pants off that 'Final Fantasy' movie). Definitely check this one out if you're interested in Starship Troopers or any Sci-fi in general.

Do not miss this movie, even if you're not a sports fan!

This is one of the most inspiring films I have ever seen. Denzel Washington does a superb job as Coach Boone, the newly hired head coach of the Titans high school football team. The time frame is 1971 during the time of forced integration in the South, when tempers ran high and hate filled the hearts of both blacks and whites. The displaced head coach Yost, who was white, stayed on reluctantly, as an assistant coach, just to keep the original team from walking off. I am not a football fan, not even close, but the outstanding acting by the entire cast had me riveted to my sofa not wanting to miss any of the story. In fact, I think I watched it at least twice, maybe three times, just because I wanted to share it over and over again with different friends. Can Coach Boone pull this team together when race lines are all the players can think about? The answer to this question will have you riveted, too. Because the film was based on a true story makes it all the more profound.

Great Titanic flick

I've seen A Night to Remember two or three times and, for me, it's the definitive Titanic movie. (The 1951 Titanic was almost as sappy as the 1997 version but at least it had Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb.) A Night to Remember is also a reminder that movie-makers could create good special effects even before computer animation. If you're interested in the Titanic and you don't need a silly love story to appreciate its tragedy, I recommend A Night to Remember.

A pioneer in the cable drama series genre...

Nominated for only one Emmy, the entertainment quality of Silk Stalkings is nevertheless evidenced by its nine season run which is one of the most enduring ever for an original cable TV series. Partly responsible for this lack of critical acclaim is that Silk Stalkings was a trailblazer in the cable genre, and handing out Emmys to original cable series didn't become fashionable until the late-1990s when Sex And The City and The Sopranos broke the cable barrier for good. Another contributing factor to the lack of peer recognition is that Silk Stalkings lasted about four seasons longer than it should have, given that nearly the entire cast and crew were replaced after the first five seasons. Regardless, this hour-long drama series set in Palm Beach, Florida contains all the necessary ingredients for a hit show - beautiful people in a beautiful setting with lots of murder, violence, and intrigue. Silk Stalkings offers everything one could ask for in a TV drama, and the show's success helped pave the way for additional original cable series such as Monk and The Shield...

Silk Stalkings follows the exploits of two Palm Beach, Florida detectives who investigate murders and other high profile crimes in an elite community which is no stranger to fame and fortune. Sgt. Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes) and Sgt. Rita Lee Lance (Mitzi Kapture) are partners on the local Palm Beach Police Department, and each episode they must investigate one or more high-profile crimes. The dynamic relationship between Chris and Rita is a focal point of the show, and the two will overturn every stone and use every tactic at their disposal to bring justice to those who, either due to fame and/or wealth, believe they are above the laws that governor average people... Veteran entertainer Ben Vereen plays their boss, Capt. Hutchinson, in seasons one through three before being replaced by Charlie Brill (Capt. Harry Lipschitz) for the remainder of the series... Overall, Silk Stalkings is a finely scripted investigative drama cut from the same mold as Law & Order SVU...

The Silk Stalkings DVD (Season 1) features a number of dramatic episodes including the series premiere in which Chris and Rita investigate the case of model murdered in her townhouse. The main focus of the investigation centers around the model's husband, and the couple's impending divorce proceedings only serve to place him under greater suspicion. Digging further, Chris and Rita link a cold case file to the murder, but a wrench is thrown in their investigation when the ex-cop who investigated the case is himself murdered... Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "Dirty Laundry" in which Chris and Rita investigate the mysterious death of a congressmen found on the beach near his home, and "Internal Affair" in which Chris becomes embroiled in police brutality controversy when he shoots and kills a suspect during a burglary in progress...

Below is a list of episodes included on the Silk Stalkings DVD (Season 1):

Episode 1 (Pilot)
Episode 2 (Going to Babylon)
Episode 3 (S.O.B.)
Episode 4 (In the Name of Love)
Episode 5 (Men Seeking Women)
Episode 6 (Dirty Laundry)
Episode 7 (Hard Copy)
Episode 8 (Curtain Call)
Episode 9 (The Brotherhood)
Episode 10 (Blo-Dri)
Episode 11 (Intensive Care)
Episode 12 (Squeeze Play)
Episode 13 (Shock Jock)
Episode 14 (The Sock Drawer)

The Best Movie

When I first saw this movie, my impression of it was that it was magical, beautiful, with so much feeling I watched it time and time again when I bought it on video. I think everyone will enjoy as much as I did because it shows that the power of love, courage, and trust conquers all. I loved it and I know other people will love it too. :)

Shania Best DVD Ever

After a brief hiatus of creating a family and working on new songs with her ellusive husband, Mutt, Shania has come back strong, both vocally and lyrically. And she hasn't skimped on the entertainment factor either. In fact, Shania seems to be almost basking in her newfound live show lights on this DVD, titled, UP! Respectively so titled UP! with it's upbeat attitude it certainly reflects on the listener/viewer as well. Watch and your attitude will be uplifted too. Enjoy!!

The Series becomes more interesting

The series becomes more interesting. Though this DVD is only in english, the story is still good. Though I've never seen the series I watched all 3 movies. I should think in this DVD, the Whitebase crew is preparing to go to Jaburo. There is a big fight scene in the atmosphere too.
