Searching for Angela Shelton - movie DVD cover picture
powerful

I had to watch this documentary for a family violence class for college. I found this to be overwhelmingly powerful and real. I felt Angela's emotions as she was screaming and crying. I don't know how anyone can abuse someone and moreless a child. I also found it unreal that there are so many women with the same name and similar story! What a great film to put things into perspective.

Great, but you need to see the first one first

Great movie, but you need to have seen the first one to enjoy at max. Not as much Benedetti or Onetti poetry, but still great, romantic, comedic, a movie for young people to reflect, analyze and laugh.

great movie

i was recommended this from one of my friends and i am glad he pointed me in this direction. from the openning scene with the main character running after another guy. you have no idea what is going on and who these 2 people are, but you soon find out the main character is the cop chasing after a crook. the opening scene itself is unsettling and this movie isn't for the light hearted. i enjoyed it truely. yes, it is somewhat predictable at parts, but what movie isn't these days.

my favorite scene was where this crackhead didn't want to get out of his bathtub, so he put the crack into a loaded shotgun. then he lit it and took a hit and boom! you get the picture. i recommend this to anyone who likes cop dramas.

There is no standard grief response

I just finished watching this movie and loved it - was very moved. First off, to get the obvious out of the way, the soundtrack is fabulous and the dog is great.
That said, i really appreciated this view of the grieving process - sometimes quiet, sometimes stilted and wooden, sometimes angry, sometimes funny. I can't even repeat here some of the conversations a group of us had after a friend's suicide - too ribald and raunchy. It helped us ease the pain. The scene of the deceased daughter's "friends" going through her clothes to pick stuff out was also very painfully realistic. I've been there.
I thought Jake Gyllenhall was fantastic. I've seen him in other things but he really stood out to me. And Susan Sarandon, I think, always gives her best. Dustin Hoffman walked that line of holding it all together and giving you the feeling that any moment he was going to burst.
The only disappointing moment for me was the relationship that came about between Joe and Bertie. Not that that's not realistic - many people I know who lost their partners quickly married or got together with someone else again shortly thereafter. I can't really say what bugged me about it. I think maybe when they "got together" (read between those words) I expected more pent up grief to be released or something. And maybe that's my OWN personal stereotyping of how grief is experienced at a moment like that.
On the whole, I really liked this movie a lot. I laughed. I cried. I thought of friends who are no longer with me and their families and loved ones. I thought of Brad Silberberg (sp?) and Rebecca Shaeffer. I think she would have been proud.

50 First Dates (Full Screen Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Barrymore and Sandler Make a Winning Team...Again!

50 first dates, Sandler and Barrymore's second venture together, turns out to be Funny, Charming and often Sentimental. While they were extremely lovable in The Wedding Singer the two now proove that they are the dynamic duo of the romantic comedy. Like Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, or Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, we want more of Sandler and Barrymore. I believe they both have this wonderful sense of vivacious, carefree and sincere deliveries that make them top of my list for Romantic Comedy duo!

The film was absolutely enjoyable from start to finish. Creative storyline told in a charmingly funny way. The subject matter is rather heavy but it is portrayed a little more light hearted and Barrymore is such an adorably likable actress that you want to see more. Sandler is the unlikely romantic lead which is all the more reason to root for him! In the Wedding Singer we were charmed when he sang "I want to grow old with you" to Julia on the plane, now we are charmed with how many different ways he can make her fall in love with him, day after day after day...

Enjoyable performances by an always creative Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd and a lisping, weightlifting Sean Astin! (Whatever happened to the fat Samwise?)

DVD specifications are great too! Widescreen 2:35:1. There are deleted scenes, bloopers, and a hilarious mock interview with Rob Schneider as Ula interviewing Adam, Drew and Sean! Hilarious!

I laughed, I was touched, I thoroughly enjoyed my two hours. Time well spent. I request that the dynamic duo do more films in the near future to help keep us entertained and charmed all over again.

MASTERFUL MADONNA

Excellent sequence of videos with the masterful touch of Madonna creativity. The sound in 5.1 is tight, allowing the surrounds to blend in for the feeling of total involvement of both sight and sound. Each video is so well directed and produced, that you feel like you're watching short movies.Definitely a must for your dvd music collection.

Interesting combination

They all know!! (That Touch of Mink)

Philip Shayne (Cary Grant) rich industrial owner accidentally splashes Cathy Timberlake (Doris Day) out of work computer operator, as his car drives by. He sends his assistant Roger (Gig Young) to apologies. This becomes the beginning of a comedy of misunderstanding, misidentification, and a strange relationship between Philip and Cathy.

Although Doris Day and Carry Grant insure that this is a fun comedy, it is the bevy of other well-known actors that take this to new heights. Audrey Meadows plays the protective big sister type who hears about Mr. Shayne's exploits over the phone. Gig young is Mr. Shayne's go-for and finds out first hand what people and dogs think of him. Don Knotts is a shoe salesman as he is in another Doris day movie [Move Over Darling (1963)]. You defiantly do not want to miss the scene with Everett Beasley's (John Astin) date with Cathy.

My favorite scene is where she falls out the hotel window and is picked up. She says, "I Fell out of mister Shayne's apartment. See that I'm returned"

Goody Two Shoes and the Filthy Beast (Father Goose)

Walter Christopher Eckland (Cary Grant) A drifter, has obtained a boat from someone fleeing the oncoming war. Due to a lack of coast watchers (the "should have been" watcher getting himself eaten), Walter is pressed into service. Certain measures were taken to get him there and to encourage his participation.
On a mission to save a fellow cost watcher Walter ends up with Catherine Louise Marie Ernestine Freneau (Leslie Caron), who is escorting several schoolgirls out of harms way and was stranded. Place any man and woman on an island toss in some schoolgirls, a little liquor, snake, tie, Japanese, and you have a mixture for comedy.
