Get From The BBC - NO ITV (And there is NONE missing)!

I would disagree with whoever wrote the review giving only one star. Mr Bean was NEVER produced, released or screened by the BBC - but by ITV. ITV shows commercials and so to allow space for these each episode shown is 25 minutes!
I was born an raised in Britain and watched Mr Bean first hand every time they were released. There is NO missing footage and I feel that people should check their facts before bad-mouthing establishments like A&E.
This collection is great - including the documentary and Is well worth the money!

Outstanding Instrumental Rock/Fusion!!

This is a fantastic DVD! TLB are an awesome mix of great chops, complicated but always interesting songs, superb interplay between the band members and always a great sense of melody. Remove the vocals from classic era Rush (farewell to kings - moving pictures) and throw it in a blender with the Dixie Dregs, Blow by Blow era Jeff Beck and early Joe Satriani, and you have some idea of what this band sounds like. Technical but emotional instrumental rock without over-the-top shredding. I have concert videos from several of the artists mentioned above, and these guys deserve a place with them - highest recommendation!

Santana - Supernatural Live - DTS - movie DVD cover picture

I have been watching and listening to this DVD all weekend. I am absolutely captivated. The more I watch it the more I like it. Guitar virtuoso Carlos Santana has combined his talents with young musicians of various genres to produce a truly outstanding DVD. The production quality is excellent, the music is great, the performances superb - you'll see a whole troup of talented performers. The opening number actually has Las Vegas style show girls and really sizzles. What a show! I loved it immediately. Santana sizzles too. Be prepared for some of the best guitar you've ever heard. This DVD is technically several notches above most DVDs and takes full advantage of all mediums. There are a lot of bonus materials, not the least of which are four music videos. These may be worth the price alone. Excellent. All considered, this is a masterful production. Top notch music and video and the bonus materials make it a complete DVD package worth buying. Will appeal to a wider audience than just Santana fans, but if you like Santana, definitely get it. This is a DVD worth having.

This movie is like poetry in motion. It is a comedy but it also is a sad movie.
This movie shows that you don't have to be a brainiac to be succesful in this world. All it takes is a strong will and a lot of spirit.

The Cat's Meow - movie DVD cover picture
The Cat's Meow is The Cat's Pajamas!

Let me start by saying that I very rarely give a movie five stars. This movie is one of those notable exceptions.
The Cat's Meow is one of those movies that didn't get nearly as much recognition as it should have. Peter Bogdanovich's directing is beautifully understated, as is the cinematography by Bruno Delbonnel (Amelie). The script is fabulous, the art direction is flawless, and the acting is, without exception, wonderful.
Kirsten Dunst shows her capacity to play more than the brainless cheerleader in this movie -- her down-to-earth nature enhances Marion Davies' obvious internal struggle. Edward Herrmann is incredible as William Randolph Hearst. He brings a touching level of humanity to a character who is truly unlikable. Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Tilly as Elinor Glyn and Louella Parsons, respectively, play off each other perfectly. Lumley is witty and sophisticated, while Tilly is bright-eyed and annoying. In a good way. Cary Elwes, to whom I have a particular emotional attachment because of Robin Hood: Men In Tights and The Princess Bride, plays a man whose dignity is slowly crumbling away. His performance, like those of the rest of the cast, shows Thomas Ince to be a character who is far from a good person. But you can understand why.
Although the entire ensemble cast delivers thoroughly satisfying performances, one stands out: Eddie Izzard. I have been a fan of his stand-up for many years (and for those of you who haven't seen or heard it, do so immediately), however, when I heard he was playing Charlie Chaplin, I really couldn't envision it. He doesn't look anything like Chaplin, who was slight, in his facial features as well as his physique. Within five minutes of the movie, I had totally forgotten that this was a transvestite stand-up comic who rattles on about everything from evil ducks to Star Trek. The twinkle in Izzard's eye carries over perfectly to Chaplin, the epitome of playfulness. He captures Chaplin's personality and makes it his own so much that after watching the movie, you will have a hard time believing that Chaplin is Chaplin.

Funniest show EVER

I got hooked on this show watching BBC America in it's first season and it quickly became my favorite show of all time. Unfortunately, the American copy didn't work at all, but this DVD is a must have in any comedy enthusiast's collection. The comparison to a cross between 'Friends' and 'Sex and the City' doesn't do it justice. This series is fresh, witty and sometimes a little raunchy, but I've never laughed so hard! The writing and cast are superb and I can't wait for Series 3 on DVD!

Gorillas in the Mist

This is the real life story of Dian Fossey, a woman with passion and conviction who dared to live her dreams. Weaver does an exceptional job of bringing the character to life and is very convincing as the gorilla-loving mountain lady. It is wonderful to watch the transition of the character from the beginning of the movie and see how she develops into the obsessed anger-driven person at the end. Right or wrong in her efforts to save the gorillas, this movie is truly an inspiration for anyone with courage and passion.
