Genocide protrayed how it really was.

I am a high school history teacher. In preparation to tackle the horror of the Holocaust to make it understood to 15-16 year olds, I read countless accounts and texts on the subject. I had seen Schindler's List in the theater before I had much knowledge of the subject and was moved. Seeing it after my research, it is true to history. Steven Speilberg is, obviously, brilliant. Students in my classes where moved to tears (even a couple football jocks) and gained a clear understanding of the blind hatred of an ethnicity. I show the movie and only could show it on VHS. To be able to have the DVD quality and ability to easily skip past the brief sexual scenes has increased this film's impact in the classroom. Not a movie to watch with the family on a night of fun but a necessary film for all people to see. History is our best teacher and Schindler's List teaches us a very powerful lesson.

The burning orphanage....

One of the funniest films I have ever seen. I watch it over and over, put it away a few weeks, and watch it again. The humor and one liners are hilarious. One of the funniest is when Evie has a date, and the guy puts a magazine over her face with the face of someone else on it! The humor is very mean...but you can't help but laughThere ar phallic symbols everywhere, which is part of the fun locating them....Highly reccomended!

brilliance

This movie was magnificent. John Waters has come a long way since his earlier movies. Although I just loved his movies with Divine. As far as Serial Mom, am I the only one that thought that Kathleen Turner deserved the Oscar for this movie? She was brilliant. To be able to change her personality with just a look on her face in an instant was remarkable. the biggest oversight by the Oscars I can remember.

My third favorite movie of all time...

... As for the movie itself, it had so much to get excited about. There was comedy, romance, suspense and extreme respect for the creature depicted. Imhotep stole the show, and he was, I think, just the way a monster should be. Freaky, spooky, icky and almost godlike to a point. And it was the supernatural action that really pushed this film over the edge. Most Scifi and horror gets my appreciation based solely on the scale of power that the hero/villain possesses, and this one went above and beyond. I mean, we have a guy who's basically a sand-God, but also has superhuman strength, is immortal, commands deadly man-eating insects and can summon the 10 plagues of Egypt! That's world-threatening stuff right there... But anyways, spooky, yes, but that's part of it's charm. Take the monster, creepyness and all, and cherish it. I did...

Man-O-Man

You know...I've heard small talk in the press about the movie, watch the soundtrack win a Grammy and didn't buy it until recently. The movie was sensational for a part movie-documentary. I like the style and realized (just as the director did) that these guys needed to be out of the shadows! Now I play the soundtrack back to back -- it has such feel good tracks that someone stopped me in traffic (in NYC no less) and asked me what was the name of the CD I was playin...

Enjoyed this one.

The film, while it has some minor shortcommings, overall was very likeable. Both Christian and Mary played the parts with genuine feeling. And Kate Seagull ( I think!) almost stole the show with her performance as the best friend. One thing I noticed on the dvd was that the theatrical trailer carried some scenes that were not in the film, and I am wondering how to find (if there is) this film with those deleted scenes. The film was a little short and those scenes may elaborate the story line. Also add to an entertaining film.

I would give anything to be at Bayside High....

Saved By the Bell rocks...what an amazing show. I used to tune into this show every Sat. morning when I was a little kid. It was fantastic then, and it sure is fantastic now. The acting and the story lines are nothing that could win an emmy, but the show can keep all ages interested for the duration of an episode. Kelly Capowski is a boy's dream. To see her is enough reason to purchase this set. Also, Screech's antics are still funny: I find him the second best part of the show (Behind Kelly). Video and Audio are very nice in this set, and unfortunately, there are no special features. Still, this series is a classic and needs to be in the DVD collection of every teenager in the early-mid 1990's.

the masterpiece

swedish director ingmar bergman is, with this state-of-the-art film, at his peak of his possibilities then. everything fits in, like a puzzle, because it's it: flashbacks, rusty memories and the present blends smoothly into a picture of how things should have been. too late for a change of mind? perhaps...victor sj?strom, the dean of swedish directors and bergman's "godfather" ends his real life with a shivering character. this movie explains perfectly that the key point of a journey is not the arrival but what is being found along the way. isak borg drives with his sister-in-law and finds out nothing is as it seems and nobody's perfect. one of the few movies i've seen that you'll get out of the theatre feeling completely clean, re-born, new.

Absolutely enchanting !

What a little gem. Who says to make great movie these days it needs to be full of big names, sex and violence ? This movie takes a simple, yet sweet story adds a more than adequate cast, some wonderful scenery and the result is absolutely enchanting. I defy anyone not to fall in love, even just a little, with the character of Benny. She is a joy to behold. The cast are brilliant. Chris O'Donnell shines as the golden child and romantic lead, but I must say the movie belongs to Minnie Driver. What a discovery ! She handles the role perfectly with just the right amounts of innocence, humour, compassion and bravado to deliver an astounding performance. The DVD has quite a few extra's which is nice. Plenty of trailers and teasers, I would however, have liked to have seen a little more behind the scenes....this gang surely got on as well off screen as on, I mean, could they really act that well ?I thoroughly recommend this DVD to anybody looking for pure entertainment with hints of yesteryear. A true gem !
