gotta buy it!

I cannot tell you how funny this series is. I started watching Father Ted just a few years ago when my wife (Irish) and I lived in London. Of course considering my wife's background I started getting into it and soon enough I was hooked! Father Ted is probably the funniest British made series (although about an Irish preist) ever made.
Too bad the main character (father ted himself) died about 3 years ago or else I am sure that no other series in the world would have ever been able to catch up to this level of popularity as these guys did. Mind you it is only 3 people, and an old house so they have to be very creative to keep the laughs coming!

Learn Chinese with Billy and Benboo, Beg. Level 1 Vol. 1 - movie DVD cover picture
Learning a new language can be easy and fun!

I watched both the level 1 and level 2 videos with my American-born elementry school nephew and pre-school niece.
The video was appealing to them because it's like a cartoon video. The scenes in the video are very visual and focused, it's directly related to the dialog, so it's very easy for children to understand what the video is teaching.
The music and songs in the video are also great! I love the tunes, they are very catchy. The children learned it really fast, and soon they are singing along.I also like the fact that the song lyrics are made up of phrases from the teaching material, and repeat itself over and over. This helps the children to learn through repeatition.
My nephew and niece are both attending private after school program to learn Chinese. I saw far more progress after watching the videos for few weeks, than they going to 1-1/2 years of language school. Plus if I watch the video with the kids, I know exactly what was taught in the video, it's much easier for me to start practcing with them. As oppose to going to the language school, which I have no idea what they are teaching, therefore it's hard for me to start a conversation in Chinese with them. Also the materials from the video are related to things we would normally encounter in real life, so there are many occasions to take the opportunity to practice the vocabularies.
Lastly, the story of all the videos are centered around Billy and BenBoo, the two main characters, and their family, so you'll be familiar with the characters after the first video, and easy to move on to the next. I especially love the adorable dog Ben Boo, he's so playful and brings so much energy!
Thanks Language Tree for making learning so much fun!!! I can't wait to see the next video!

The True Scouts!

Wow, I actually thought the DiC dub was good until I saw all three of the movies! The characters seem so different, as in Ami is actually funny, Chibi-Usa is not a brat, and Rei doesn't hate Usagi! These videos are a must have for any Moonie, young or old! (Though with younger viewers, I suggest parents around to fast-forward through a few scenes.

shaun316 is an idiot

One of the greatest movies ever made. A must have for any film lover. Only the most cynical and moronic critics pan this masterpiece. Bad reviews from film school dropouts make me sick. Take your sour grapes and go lambaste Bresson or Godard. Lynch is the only true artist working in film today and BLUE VELVET marks the pinnacle of his career.

E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (Widescreen Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
And who doesn't like this film?

E.T. - THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL is one of my all-time favorite classics. And it's one of Steven Speilberg's greatest films of all-time. I am 18 years old now, and when I was young, I used to not like E.T. all that much and didn't really care for it, even though my family owns the video. But a few years ago I started watching it again and it definitely grew on me and I began to love it!
E.T., as we all know, is the story about a 10-year-old lonely boy named Elliot in need of a good friend, and it's also about an alien from another world who gets left-behind when his space ship lands on Earth. The two discover each other and start a unique friendship. Elliot (Henry Thomas) tries to tell his family and his older brother's friends about E.T., but nobody believes him. So he ends up hiding E.T. from everyone so the law and the government and the FBI doesn't find out about him and take him away to do research on him. Then Elliot's older brother Michael, and his younger sister (a very young Drew Barrymore) find out about E.T. when Elliot introduces them to E.T. and they also learn to love him. E.T. has special powers but all he really wants is to find his way home so Elliot tries to help him find out how to get home and find out where home really is to E.T.
This undeniable masterpiece has some of the best special effects ever and a terrific solid storyline and plot. Well-done, superb acting by the entire cast, especially from Henry Thomas, who is indeed, at his best in this film. Some of the lines are unforgettable, and the most memorable in movie history like, "E.T. phone home". I can watch the film again and again without ever being bored or getting sick of it. The music and score are absolutely stunning and beautiful, too. The DVD isn't so bad, although they could have added more special features to it, especially since this is a classic film. I also can't wait for it's re-release in theaters March 2002. The re-release will be digitally remastered and will even have some never-before-seen footage that was probably in the original script and they had filmed the scenes while filming the movie, but got cut out of the film. I've seen the original trailer for the re-release when they premiered it on "Entertainment Tonight" so I know it will be just as excellent and spectacular as the original version, perhaps even more because it will be better picture quality with extra scenes! I am most definitely going to be seeing the re-release when it hits theaters in March of 2002, and you should, too. But until then, buy the DVD or video - E.T. is one of the greatest films of all-time. It's a revelation of the new film erra! :-)

Gorgeous visual accompanied by beautiful music

Bjork used to be an object that attracted mostly hatred and animosity from me, her weird clothes, her odd music- I couldn't believe people would actually take time out of their lives to waste on such nonsense! Then I actually got one of her CD's and fell in love with her immediately. It's actually incredible how in one instant- as the cd began to play- all feelings of contempt I had towards her vanished completely- never to return. After that I couldn't get enough of her enchanting voice and dreamy music- and I needed so much of it that when I saw they had a music video collection I HAD to have it- and so I do.

From the very beginning this DVD PERFECTLY captures Bjork's child like energy, but mature nature and attitude. The visual content is stunning as well- simple in some videos (such as "Venus As a Boy" and "Big Time Sensualitu"), complex in others (such as "Army of Me" and "I Miss You")- but no matter what, fitting to the song it is put to. Ranging from Bjork dancing and singing in front of the camera, to spastic animation, to expressing emotions through breath-taking landscapes, this video collection is unique and by far one of the best that I own. Also it contains two new videos "It's In Our Hands" and "Nature is Ancient"- both of which are gorgeous and stunning as well.

Just because I want to I'll now tell you some about my FAVORITE videos:
1. "It's Oh, So Quiet": this is one of my favorite as Bjork sings quietly, walking around town, but whenever the loud chorus comes on whoever she is near joins her in dancing, whether it's in an auto shop or people passing on the sidewalk.
2. "Joga": I love this song because it is one of the most beautiful of Bjorks. The visual is incredible (this is the one protraying landscapes). Sadly, some of it was done on the computer, and I guess the ran out of money so there's this one really bad shot in it, but what can you do?
3. "All Is Full of Love": Another beautiful song that portrays Bjork as a robot. Amazing digital effects- I swear "I, Robot" designers saw this and ripped it off- grrr!
4. "Bachlorette": This is a very haunting song and video- looping itself until it unravels back to where it began- very emotional and dramatic.

Well, I hope this helped- though I'm sure anyone who likes bjork at all either HAS this DVD or is planning on buying it- regardless of what I say. Either way- enjoy!

It all came together

Great writing, acting, directing and editing make this Vietnam epic IMHO, the curve setter of the genre, as well as one of the best war movies ever. The film overflows with memorable cinematic "moments"; witty throw off lines (particularly those ad libbed by drill sergeant turned actor Lee Ermey)and a quirky, high voltage tension. Best of all, director Stanley Kubrick tells his story without the usual "Vietnam" pontifications and guilt mongering. Wow!
