Five moms, sisters, a class president and lots of craziness

People have mentioned to me that if you liked Love Hina, definitely give this series a try. Chitose Hitotose was looking forward to moving back into his house which was left to him by his parents. But he never expected to be living with five women who happen to be his teachers and want to be his moms. Although this would be many guys' dream to be living with five beautiful women, it's actually Chitose's worst nightmare, as he becomes a victim of their over the top motherly care a la Love Hina with science experiments, spiritual cleansing, physical training, and almost any situations where the moms are involved. Add a lovestruck class president and Chitose's sisters to the craziness, and you have a popular comedy anime originating from Dengeki G's magazine in Japan with two TV series, an OVA, and just recently announced, another OVA to complete the series called Happy Lesson: The Final.
This series has quickly become another favorite of mine with the cute character designs, a good dose of comedy, and the array of personalities that the characters in this series have. There is also a manga version of Happy Lesson that ADV's manga division is releasing as well. A highly recommended series for those looking for something with a good amount of fun factor and lots of cute girls.

GO! SEE! DO IT!

This is an excellent movie. Its a shame it got shafted by a poor release. If it had been promoted like some of the other disney movies and if it had been in more theatres it probably would have been huge. As it is, though, this will have to fall into the catagory: Killed by the MPAA. Buy the DVD!

Great Sexpectations?

The first time I heared about "The Lover", I was in highschool and it was one of those films that my fellow pupils scandalously giggled about in the corner. In fact, one day when my parents weren't home, my best friend and I mischieviously decided to rent this "borderline porn flick" and get an eyeful of what all the hoopla was about.

While I expected various (and potentially continuous) horizontal aerobics, it was to my surprise that I actually liked this film and it had absolutely nothing to do with sex.

With my 16-year-old mind, I couldn't understand why I liked such a "dirty movie."
Was I a pervert? Perhaps.
But most likely, I think I was just a curious teenager.

About thirteen years later, I watched this movie again and this time I loved it.
While I've not yet read the novel, I still love this movie - because finally, I understood why the young French girl cried the way she did as she was leaving on the ferry and realized that she will never be the same again.

A chick flick than each can enjoy

This movie is predictable but fun and it has its laughs. Most movies today are predictable - but the ones that are predictable and AREN'T funny or not acted well make you want to puke. This movie is acted well, written well, funny but predictable. I would definetly reccomend this to anyone. Buy it. Play it. Enjoy it!

Pat Metheny Group - We Live Here DVD

I absolutely love this DVD. I had not heard any of the music from "We Live Here" before purchasing this and was not disappointed. The group's playing was impeccable, and the sound quality on the disc itself is fantantisc. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in the Pat Metheny Group and is a must have for fans. There has been some concern in other reviews over the nature of the music itself. The music from "We Live Here" is mostly more 'pop' oriented (for lack of a better term), which to those who are jazz diehards, some of the tunes will probably not appeal. There are a few tunes on the disc that I personally didn't enjoy, but the other great tracks more than made up for it. Most of the interviews on the disc have some great insights into the group, but a few are not so useful. There aren't any extras other than that.More extras would have been nice, and a few tunes weren't my cup of tea, but it is still a great outing that showcases the Group's original sound.

This movie must be true 'art'--because there is very little in it that the average G&S lover can relate to. I pitched my copy immediately after viewing.

Wonderful

Girl, Interrupted tells of the critical turning point in the main character's (Susanna, portrayed by Winona Ryder) life -- a period when she was in a mental institution and had to choose between the cool comfort of insanity or the harsh reality of sanity. The film take place primarily in the institution, and as such can be a bit harrowing at times. The characters are a little bit one-dimensional, save for Susanna and Lisa, portrayed by Angelina Jolie. These two serve as icons for "good" and "bad" and drive the narrative forward as Susanna struggles to find her path. Overall, this film does a good job of conveying the difficulty of a woman in the 1960s having to contend with the pressures of the external world alongside the pressures of the internal world (this film could have also been called "Reality Bites" another Ryder flick). There are some scenes that might be disturbing to young children, so adult supervision is recommended. If you have ever felt "ambivalent" (nicely defined in the film), this is a tape worth acquiring.

Benny & Joon - movie DVD cover picture
Beautifully acted love story.

This film features Johnny Depp as Sam a quirky off beat character who moves in with brother and sister, Benny and Joon (played by Aiden Quinn and Mary Stuart Masterson) after Benny loses at a card game.Benny takes care of his ill, troubled sister and initially is grateful to have Sam there to help care for her, especially as Sam seems to understand Joon and brings laughter into their home. As Sam and Joon's relationship starts to deepen into love however Benny protective instincts kick in and he becomes hostile and angry.Very strong acting from all the leads stop this film from becoming too schmaltzy. The result is a beautiful film, which has a perfect balance of humour and pathos. Highly recommended

i would give it a 5 plus plus plus, etc.

Excellent movie! however, the only reason why I give it 4 stars istead of 5 is because like any of Jim Abraham's other movies, the humor in them tend to get a little dry every once in a while. Otherwise, this is an excellent movie! my favorite parody is the Riverdance one, I never thought a tap-dancing, 500 lbs white man would be so funny. Congratulations Mr. Abrahams!
