Fantasy and Touching!

I rented this movie and I really liked it!! The storyline was well written and brought out. I was not bored at all with this movie...every scene I wanted to know what will happen or just the scenes were just very interesting to me. Big Fish is a kind of movie where you stop and think about certain things because its soo unusual and different. I thought Ewan McGregor did a great job and Albert Finney. They protrayed their characters really well and made me part of their adventurous journey. I wouldn't mind to see it again!!! If you like fantasy, humor, and something it!!! Recommend you rent it first see if you REALLY enjoy it! And if you do love it...don't hesitate...BUY IT!!!

Surviving World War II

My father was 22 years old when he left Philadelphia and joined the army in the spring of 1942 he volunteered for the 101st, in the summer of 1942 he left Philadelphia and found himself at Camp Toccoa, he was not in Easy Company, I don't know the name of his company.
He was a sergeant and squad leader he named his squad "Maguire's Magpies". He fought in France, Holland and Bastogne. Out of the original squad of 12 that landed in Normandy only 4 men survived the war, 8 men were killed in action during the following twelve months. And 6 of the replacements were killed in action as well. He himself received 2 Purple Hearts, the original squad and the replacements endured 150% casualities.
My father died in 1988 so he'll never read the book, or see Band of Brothers. When I was young I would pump him for information about the war, he told me everything. We discussed his experience at length, over the years he told me all the details. So much so, that when I read the Ambrose book it was like I had already read the book. But I wasn't prepared for the visual images in the Band of Brothers, I was overwhelmed, the intensity and the brutality of what my father and his fellow soldiers experienced brought me to tears. This production is a fitting tribute to the ultimate sacrifices that these young men made.
My father traveled to Europe for business frequently in the 60's and 70's. He would take time on this trips to visit France, Holland and Belgium, he would locate that certain village, and find that particular farm field or forest where one of his "brothers" had fallen, he never forgot how special and exceptional these young men were.
My father is still the most exceptional human being I have known in my life, seeing this production gave me a great insight to his personality. He was a person who truly appreciated what life had to offer, he was active, loving, funny and always emphasized the positive. Those thirteen months in 1944-45, gave him an understanding of humanity that few of us possess.

Still great

This sort of movie is not really my thing, but I enjoyed it just the same, and I can recognize it certainly is a fine movie. I prefer more visually appealing screen blockbuster action-type flicks with lots of special effects myself, but there are a lot of classic movies I enjoy, and this one will probably become a classic in its own right.
The overall premise is quite interesting, since the scenes occur in reverse order, as you watch the memory-impaired Guy Pearce try to solve the mystery of his wife's murder. Pearce does an excellent job in the role, as he methodically gathers the evidence and tries to sort it all out depite his memory impairment.
Before his memory defect occurred, he was an insurance fraud investigator, and if it's one thing he learned from his old job, it's the importance of having a system for gathering the facts and considering the evidence. Pearce does just that, and by taking photos and writing notes on them, he is able to remind himself of the facts he has discovered during the course of his investigation and ultimately solve the mystery.
I also enjoyed Pearce's role as the professor in the recent remake of the Time Machine. All in all a fine flick and worth seeing even if you're not into more thoughtful kinds of movies like this one.

Baby Road Trip Beach is refreshing!!! I was so tired of the same old videos--and so was my 14 month old son. He loves the bright colors and loves to dance to the funky rhythym of the music (which, by the way, moms, you won't mind having stuck in your head!) Wonderful to watch with the baby, but also allows me to do some cleaning, pay bills, etc. while he is entertained, too. Can't wait to get my hands on Baby Road Trip Jungle!!!!

One of the best mini-series of all times!

This is one of the most incredible movies I have ever seen in my entire life, and believe me this is coming from a viewer who knows a good movie! Megan Follows was simply magnificent in this movie, along with other great actors such as Colleen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth. This is not only Canadian film at it's finest, but one of the finest films ever produced. Wonderful breakthrough performances by young actors Schulyer Grant and Jonathan Crombie. Schulyer Grant will remind you of your best friend, and Jonathan Crombie will simply make your heart swoon! This movie holds a record for achieving the highest ratings in Canadian television, and was a ratings hit in the U.S., and every other country it aired in such as the U.K., Australia, Japan, Germany, etc. This movie is worth your time! A great family film, good for the kids, but really a movie for all ages! Kind hearted, serious, romantic, funny, and breathtaking are all words to express this movie! A must see! Two other sequels, including the must see Anne of Avonlea, follow the life of Lucy Maud Montgomery's incredible Anne of Green Gables.

Classic Family Entertainment (Good For The Grownups, Too)

Young Jesse -- abandoned by his mother at an early age -- is a troubled kid. His antics keep his social worker and foster family worried and busy. He runs away, begs for spare change, steals food and spray paints graffiti on walls. His foster parents really love and care for him but Jesse resists them, believing that his mother will someday return.
Jesse's life takes a turn for the better when he encounters Willy, a giant orca, at a marine park nearby. Jesse's fascination with the whale leads to an emotional bond based, at least in part, on their similar circumstances. Willy misses his mother and, like Jesse, tends to 'act out' once in a while.
I saw "Free Willy" in 1993 when it was released in theatres. I remembered agreeing with the critics who praised it as great family entertainment and I'm happy to say that the film remains very effective today.
My niece (age 8) was thoroughly entertained by this movie but the younger children in the group were alienated by the somewhat advanced, dramatic themes of abandonment, responsibility and love. For what it's worth, I enjoyed the film immensely.
Over a decade since its release, "Free Willy" holds up quite well. I got "misty" and "choked up" throughout the desperate climactic rescue sequence that gives the movie its name. The opening sequence, during which Willy is captured, is also quite touching.
This is efficient storytelling offering a steady, sustained buildup to a thoroughly satisfying climax.
"Free Willy" also offers believable performances by all members of its small ensemble cast, including Michael Madsen, Michael Ironside, Lori Petty, Jason James Richter (as Jesse) and Keiko (as Willy).

Best of the sixties?

Although B&C is frequently mentioned along with "Easy Rider" and "The Graduate" as the quintessential 60s American countercultural film, it easily eclipsed either of these lesser efforts and continues to stand the test of time. Easy Rider and The Graduate were both period pieces, the former amateurish and the latter obvious, precious and self-posturing (Benjamin represented all of my classmates' fantasies of being seduced by an Ann Bancroft). B & C explodes with freshness and energy from the very first frame, representing in its humor and good spirits the demonstrations and sit-ins that were the "animal house" frat parties of the times --until Kent State and the Chicago Democratic convention. Like the movie, our fun and innocense blew up in our faces. And the film retains its power to disturb at deep levels, reminding us of the creative-mortal dichotomy of our human and biological nature. The final sequence is a stunning display of montage rivaled in the history of cinema only by Hitchcock's famed shower sequence in "Psycho."

The most riveting, gritty movie of 2001!

At least in my opinion. I saw this amazing film in November of 2001 at the St.Louis Film Festival with 2 friends that ran a fan group for Billy at the time. We saw the movie on Friday evening and the next afternoon and I have to say that it was just as facinating both days. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a second. Billy did an outstanding job for this being his debut as director. I highly recommend this movie, I think it's worth every cent, though it can be hard to watch at times.

Children of the Corn

This film is absolutely perfect. This is one you can watch with your kids/parents. Children of the corn has a few scary moments but is mainly just an awesome thriller. Malachi and Isaac are awesome in this film. Stephen King is a genius and the plot to this movie is something almost as good as the original Halloween plot. This movie has what most horror flicks don't...Personality! Definetly pick this one up.

The Last Samurai (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

A very promessing film, The Last Samurai talks about something that is sacred to many of us: Honor. The willingness to live in accordance with a code honor in all aspects of life. This is shurelly depicted in the conflict beetwen two very different universes and ages. Tom Cruise's character is ecxactly like this. His niilism and desilusion with the west is replaced by respect and ultimatly union, when he fights the samurai for the first time. Being captured by the enemy he actually finds his peers. All of these men and women become his brothers and sisters living under one of thinking that is juste like his. Looking at the trailer i can garantee a superb blockbuster i tell this.
