Love it!

I think this show is awesome. I was just flipping through the channels one day and came across this show. I started to watch it and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately it was the second to last episode of first season so I was kinda lost but I still enjoyed it. That day I went out and bought the series on DVD. I have watched all of them and the first episode of second season. I think that Kristen is a slut and I really dislike her and i think that LC and Stephen need to be together. I love the show and anybody who hasn't seen it yet should try it out you will love it!!!!

I learned a lot by watching this mini-series (and reading the book). First I would like to thank Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg for making such an entertaing and thought provoking moving picture. It has since sparked an interest in me to learn more about WWII. The acting was superb. I laughed at times and at other times could feel the lump in my throat getting bigger. I truly cared about these characters. And knowing that real people, ordinary people, went through this made it all the more touching. In light of recent national events it takes something like this to remind us all what our forefathers went through to make this country what it is....I NEED THIS SERIES IN MY DVD COLLECTION!!

This review is for Amazon's impeccable memory

When I searched for this film two years ago informed me that it wasn't available on dvd, but if I wanted they'd send me an email when it became available. And now, two years later, they've sent me that email! I've had friends tell me that they'll call me back in five minutes and they forget to do it, but, after two freaking years, remembers to get back to me about this obscure, hard-to-find movie. This blows my mind.
5 stars to Amazon, and maybe I'll get around to watching "After Hours" some day.

Wonderful Movie

I have watched hundreds of videos and read thousands of books, but this movie was special. I usually read or see something and then forget about it, but this movie was something that hits the heart like nothing else. Even though I cried at the ending (and who wouldn't) and no I'm not telling you what happens, I was enthralled. The story is so realistic it's frightening. It's about life in the ghetto, both in the classroom and on the streets. This could really happen and I'm glad that someone had the guts to open the rest of America's eyes at what is going on. Anyone who has not seen this needs to. It is definitely a good buy.

What fools we had made ourselves!

Each year I Invite friends in a cinema to look a good film (like Clear Slate - Tavernier, May fools - Malle, One, Two Three - Wilder, Sunrise - Murnau). But the one film I'm looking for since years and I would like to present,is "King of Hearts": the old dream against psychiatry. That the fools have something, what has been lost in us; that they are more innocent, more wise and more creative than us domesticated people. Not able to lie, they show all our courtesies as fishy compromises. I would get this film with german undertitles. Where?

"He Musta' Seen the Picture!"

Bing and Bob's second outing is about as much fun as you can have at the movies. Bing's "Rhythm on the River" director of the previous year, Victor Schertzinger, allowed the boys to ad-lib so much screenwriters Don Hartman and Frank Butler must have been frantically turning pages trying to see where that line came from! The end result of Bing and Bob's great chemistry was a delightfully funny film with a couple of nice songs and a formula that lovely Dorothy Lamour and the boys would make legendary.

The film has a hilarious opening as Fearless Frazier (Bob) is about to be shot out of a cannon at a carnival by his pal Chuck (Bing). When things go south and the carnival burns to the ground, they take the show on the road. Chuck always has the ideas, as usual, which have "Fearless" doing everything from wrestling an octopus to becoming the human bat. One of Chuck's greatest ideas is to put Fearless in a lead coffin and submerge it in water. As for how Fearless is to escape, well Chuck hasn't quite worked out all the details yet!

And so it goes. There is some usual nonsense about a diamond mine the boys get hoodwinked into buying and in turn snooker someone else into buying, but it's only an excuse for the boys to end up in darkest Africa with the gorgeous Lamour. Donna Latour (Lamour) and her pal Julia (Una Merkel) are running a con pretending to be captured by slave traders when Julia discovers all that dough Chuck and Hubert (Fearless!) made off their diamond mine map and the girls decide to take them on safari, and take them for a ride!

Lamour is sexy and mischievous in her knee high socks and gorgeous hats but begins to worry her pal Julia when she starts to fall for one of the boys. Fearless thinks it's him, of course, when she gets his motor going singing "You're Dangerous" on a moonlit night. But the audience knows it's Chuck, even if there is a complication involving the rich guy named J. Theodore Bradley she's suppose to marry.

Some of the best moments come when the boys get lost and discover some drums in an old cave and begin to have fun. You can guess the rest! Will the boys be supper for the natives in the interior of darkest Africa? Will Lamour go with her heart and go for Chuck? It's certainly fun finding out as Bing and Bob throw the script out the window, filling Zanzibar with their easygoing charm and funny one-liners.

Dorothy Lamour is really pretty here and was the perfect choice to partner with the boys. They just seem like they belong together, both then and now. Victor Young does the music score and Bing gets to sing to Lamour while they're rowing on the river. Watching this one is a fun way to remeber Bing and Bob, who are no longer with us. But as long as great films like this one are available, their memories will remain forever.

Old Habits Die Hard

In ushering in the meiji era there was a man known as Hitokiri Battousai translated it means man slayer. He was greatly feared by all and anyone who met up with him perished to his blade but then suddenly he dissapeared and for years at a time noone knew what became of him. The meiji era is now in effect and swords are illegal except those carried by officers. Kenshin Himura the wandering samurai was once that legendary man slayer and as atonement for his sins he has sworn to never kill again so he carries around a reverse blade which is a sword that uses the dull side with the sharp side facing in. However bad habits die hard and evil seldom fades so now kenshin must protect his new found friends from that evil. Loosely based off of real life events Rurouni Kenshin is bound to be an anime you will love.

Absolutely hilarious!

This is a wonderful, hilarious movie. I think perhaps I appreciate it especially because I am from L.A., and have a few friends who are, in their own way, a little bit as desperate and as shameless as the Steve Martin character is in this movie. It just seemed a little *too* true to me at times!
The inventiveness and resourcefulness of Martin and his cohorts is a wonder, as they try to secretly film a movie without the main star knowing about it. Eddie Murphy is *fantastic* in his dual role as superstar Kit and his bespectacled, nerdy brother. The scene where Murphy is urged to cross a very busy freeway (it looks like the 5 freeway to me for some reason) was hysterical! Murphy is unsurpassed.
A very funny movie. Highly recommended.
