Fantastic

THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS is one of those fun little films that are nothing but harmless fluff. Based on the popular and long-running Off-Broadway musical, the toe-tapping musical tells the tale of back-woods bordello The Chicken Ranch - "where history and randy boys get laid"!!!
The Chicken Ranch is owned by the busty Miss Mona (Dolly Parton); and Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd (Burt Reynolds) who is in love with Mona sees to it that the bordello is not discovered by the powers that be.
However, television consumer reporter Melvin P. Thorpe (Dom DeLuise) is out to expose and close down this most sacred state treasure.
A very endearing musical comedy which reunited Dolly Parton with her NINE TO FIVE director Colin Higgins. Parton also contributed to the score of the film, which was altered significantly from the stage version.

Broadway Musical

A true feast for the eyes and ears. Great use of popular music, costume, and plot. We need more of these fun, colorful musicals. Nicole Kidman did a wonderful job. I really thought I would hate it, but I watched and listened and loved it.

had everything

I read this book several months ago and loved it. Tonight I got to see the movie. What a movie it was. It followed the book pretty close. The acting was surprisingly good. The first part was vintage Stephen King. Then it suddenly took off in several directions. They did a great job with things that I thought, when reading the book, they'd have to cut out. They didn't though and it was great. It was bloody, gory, sad, funny, exciting, great special effects, intense in parts, and somewhat scary in parts. This was a little different for Stephen King. I would describe it as a combination of "It", "The X-files", and "Alien". I was hoping for scarier, but then again I haven't truly been scared since 1973 (The Exorcist). I would definitely recommend this movie if you just want nonstop fun.

Great for the Serious Anime Fan

And I mean Serious in the type of anime you like. If you want explosions, huge fights, teardrops, veinpops, and comedy... try something else for now and save this for another night. WHR is a great choice if you like film noir style. The action is mainly low-key, but you get to see some awesome magic- especially as Robin discovers more of her gift. There have been several reviews that talk about holes in the story, but what they didn't seem to understand is that Robin was raised in a convent and was trained that all witchcraft was evil and there's a differentiation between witchcraft and craft users. There was no interaction between herself and the witches she hunted before her transfer to STN-J because witches were killed outright. It's explained to her that STN-J captures witches instead... this is the same spot where you hear her disgust of ORBO. (in the 1st or 2cd episode)You then follow Robin through the realization of her powers, finding the true history of witchdcraft, and her struggle to find out if being a witch means you are inherently evil- especially herself. At the same time you have the conflict between Solomon and STNJ over ORBO, the group dynamics of the actual teammembers of the STN-J, and their growing suspicions that all is not what it seems. If you love untangling plots and a deeper story than most, WHR is for you! If you prefer your plot on a silver platter... you might want to try something else.

Scott made an good film out of Strieber's book.

I have now seen this movie three times. I would suggest this movie for anyone who enjoys Vampires. How can anyone not enjoy Cathy. She is not only beautiful, but quite sexy without trying to be. Susan S. and David B. played great rolls as well. The sex scenes, without showing all that much, was really exotic. Buy this film, you will end up seeing it several times over the years.

Accurate and worth buying

What a film! It is so great to see a movie that can not only entertain, but also educate. And it was great to see Michael Keaton doing what he does best, after so much time. It brings to life what was going on over there. I was 15 when I was watching The Gulf War on TV... It was scary, but at that age I didn't understand. I'm glad to learn the truth in history, especially from movies. I felt the same about the movie "Thirteen Days". Keep bringing those movies that teach us our own history. Robert Wiener and Mick Jackson, you did a great job in telling the story from this perspective.

Powerpuff Girls Rock!

I am forty-years old and have been a PpG fan since day one back in November of 1998. I LOVE THE PPG MOVIE! Some people do not understand that this is the prequel to the TV series, so of course it will not have all the villains in the movie. Craig McCracken wanted to balance out the film where fans of the show, and people who have never seen the PpG, can enjoy it. The movie is just like the TV series. I am happy to see that Craig did not make any improvements to the characters as other films do that go from TV to the big screen. He kept the characters the same as they are on the show. The animation is a little better. The movie makes references to such films "Planet of the Apes," "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes," "The Wizard OF Oz," and "King Kong." My favorite scene is where the girls are playing tag in Townsville. The girls are having a ball playing tag around Townsville. They do not realize how rough they are playing and in the process, they are destroying the town. This film makes you laugh while other animated shows take themselves too seriously. The PpG reminds me of the Cartoons I used to watch when I was a kid. Cartoons like Atom Ant, The Beatles Cartoons, Spider-Man, Top Cat, the Impossibles, and the campy 1966 Batman TV series. It is not only the animation that makes the movie great; it is also the talents of the voiceover actors that bring the characters to life. E.G. Daily, Tara Strong, Cathy Cavadini, and the rest of the cast make these characters laughable, loveable, and believable. Everyone has done an excellent job on this movie. I hope Cartoon Network and Warner Brothers decide not to get rid of the cast of this fine and unique series. The show will lose many fans if CN and WB do decide to get a new cast. The cast was almost replaced before the voices were recorded for the movie. CN and WB did not want to pay the cast all the money that the cast were supposed to get for the TV series, the movie, and the PpG merchandise. I am happy to hear that things worked out for the film. I was not disappointed with the PpG movie. I love the show more now after seeing the movie. I plan to see it again. I cannot wait of this movie on DVD. If you only see on animated movie this year, see the Powerpuff Girls Movie. If you are not a fan or have never seen the PPG, you will be come a fan.

Thats where I'll be waiting

Boo, says the old woman in princess bride at the Critics. Hook is in my top five favorite movies without a doubt. The ones who don't like it, don't understand the underlying thread. Peter grows up - and forgets his childhood as the flying menace. He is even afraid of heights! It doesn't matter whether you are a spielberg fan or not, if you love interesting films that hauntingly leave a mark of childishness on your heart, then this is for you. I have watched this film more than any other movie. I seriously KNOW for a fact that since I was 11 I have viewed it over a hundred times....easily! I had a copy...then I bought it on vhs...then the other day bought it on dvd and it still hasn't lost its meaning to me. I could still watch it twice in a row and not loose an ounce of attention. Maybe it's Robin Williams perfect transition from snobby business man, to the high flying , sword chopping, pirate stomping, peter pan. Or Dustin Hoffman, who endured just as many hours in make-up as he did in Tootsie, to bring to life the ultimate clock-hating villain, who despises the "L" word. Or Bob Hoskins (Who framed Rodger Rabbit), an excellent Smee, more brain than bum-fundled. Julia Roberts had me in the state-of-crush for about 3 years. Anyway, Hook is a 5 star great movie that THE People love. Forget the critics for this one. The dvd is sharp, and sounds terrific. As far as sound, check out Smee's "Good morning neverland." I would seriously enjoy ANY extra's, because the skull and crossbones on this disc represent death to extra lover's. Two-disk anyone?
