Fans don't miss out! Newbies, we'll tell you what you need!

I don't think that there is anyway that the creators of the X Files movie could have made this, so far first X Files film better. Long time fans of course will want to see Mulder and Scully in a big screen adventure and have some long running questions and secrets of the show revealed to them. Newbies or newcomers to the show can jump right in to the mix of things and have a realitively clear idea of what is going on without a serious "where am I?" feel, because just about all the important aspects are layed out neatly. FBI agents Mulder and Scully are currantly undergoing less interesting work while the X Files department has been closed down. Underneath their noses in Texas, a strange, toxic substance has been discovered which causes great harm to whoever comes in contact with it. The knowlege of this toxin is leaked to Mulder through a crackpot scifi author named Kurtzweil (Martin Landau) who tells Mulder that he needs expose the toxin as an alien virus which would be the proof Mulder needs to prove that aliens do exist, before a mysterious government shadow organization called the Syndicate removes any trace of the substance. Interesting from beginging to end, and with a dull quotient being almost 0, The X FILES is almost required to watch for the fans because if you miss the movie, your're going to miss part of the show.

The start of one of the best anime series to date

Man, RK is the best anime ever created, IMHO. The story is about a wandering swordsman named Kenshin Himura, once known as the feared Hitokiri Battousai. Battousai gave up killing and had a special sword forged for him, called the sakabatou, AKA reverse blade sword, which can't kill, since the sharp edge is on the side where the dull side is usually is. While wandering through Tokyo, he meets a indigo haired woman named Kaoru Kamiya, the assistant master of the Kamiya Kasshim Ryu. Later on Kenshin also meets Yahiko Myojin, a descendant of a Samurai and Sansosuke Sagara, a ex-gangster and a former member of the Sekihoutai, a false government army. Thats the overall story for this DVD, 4 eps in total in this one.

When Yellow Sub was re-released, I bought my first DVD, even though I couldn't play it! I finally bought a DVD player, and finally got a chance to see this. I am admittedly new to DVD, but they did an incredible job with this release. All the little additions that the VHS release doesn't have make it a must-have for Beatles' fans. The colors are rich and vivid the Dolby Sound truly does surround you. I am still finding little things that this version offers.

good film

"New Jack City" is one of the best gangster films I have ever seen. This movie works almost like "Scarface." It's wonderfully gritty with style and great performances. But "New Jack City" also has a great, graphic, hard-hitting anti-drug message. This movie doesn't hold back and shows reality with a great plot, characters, situations, and some well-done action sequences. Wesely Snipes is great as Nino Brown and is always convincing. Movies like "New Jack City" are rarely seen today and more should be made. This is a powerful film that's sylish and gritty. I highly recommend it.

Awesome movie!

Call me crazy, but I kind of liked the 80's Cold War Era; And this movie just 'sky-rocketed' my enthusiasm for such a nostalgic time to live.
This movie is simply awesome, and I strongly urge you to buy it!

Funniest film I've seen in ten years!

I can't believe that John Ritter, Bernie Mac, and that dwarf Tony whatshisname were in this movie and it is still so devoid of humor. Bernie spends 50% of his screen time doing nothing but eating oranges. The line that got the most laughs was a straight rip-off of Howard Stern. Bennifer created a pretty laughable film with his Reindeer Games, and this is yet another holiday stinker. It's really too bad that the poster and title both have santa in them because this means way too many children are going to see this. It is NOT a movie for kids unless you are looking for teachable moments on alcoholism, sodomy, and the 99,000 different usages of the "f" word. I feel very sorry that this was John's last movie. Poor guy.

Here's a reason to buy a DVD player.

Hi. Just bought the 1st year DVD collection and I'm way to excited for words. I've been collecting the boxed sets and loved them. When I heard about this I said..(thought) "About time". Though some episodes are considered bad (enough to be left out of the boxed sets) this is the way they should have been released. In order.
The price is AWESOME. Compare that to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Where I'm from they are at least $20 a tape...FOR ONE EPISODE.
Just to give you and idea how good this is...well I don't even have a DVD player yet. But you should see it. Once you open it...folds out to an enourmous size. And like most of the X-Files's got great style.
If you don't like the X-Files but are mildly curious... BUY IT! What?, close to 24 hours worth of viewing for a little over 100 dollars...YAH it's worth it. If you don't like it. But trust me, I've converted more people to X-Files fans than you'd believe.
Enjoy your purchase.

Wonderful if not underrated follow up to the Lion King

With Disney popping out sequal after sequal these days, it was only expected that they would do the same to their biggest animated hit. The Lion King II picks up right where the original left us. Simba has what turns out to be a daughter, named Kiara and she is very couragous and rebellious, much like her father Simba was/is. Everything would seem to be well but little do they know a revolt of another lion's pride is brewing. The pride known as the Outlanders is filled with lions and lionesses who were ousted by the Pride's Rock pride. Who want revenge for what happend to Scar and take their rightful place as the true rulers of the lands. They are lead by Zira, one of Scar's lionesses who wants nothing more then Simba's demise and for her adopted Son, Kovu to take his place. Zira trains Kovu to trick Simba into taking him in as one of their own and all the while Kira starts to fall in love with the newcomer. The story unfolds very nicely with a lot of twists and turns and great moments with characters both old and new showing up at various points. A great ending that will really make people think and all around well written for a made to video movie.
While this movie is great and just for the fact that we get to see what happens next with Simba and company, is well worth the price. But there are some unfortunate downsides to the movie. Some of the songs are very weak and almost fast forward through them bad. That would be songs like Upendi which is sung by Rafiki and the stuff going on during that song is really reaching. "Can you Feel the Love Tonight?" it tries to be but fails miserably. Opening title song though is wonderful and a lot of the songs you will recognize from the Broadway soundtrack so it really ties the whole Lion King Universe together. Other things to note are Timon and Pumbaa are reduced to cameo moments at best which was disapointing. The charm and humor they brought into the first was truly missed. They have a few one liners and act more as babysitters to Kiara then anything. Great characters though are seen here like Vitani who plays Zira's daughter. Kovu is also very well done and looks like a mixture of Simba and Scar all in one character. Last downside to note is the animation definitely is inferior in everyway. Yes its to be expected but its noticible in many points at how bad the animation for this movie is. Pride's Rock shifts sizes at points, the characters colors look flat and the brillient colors that once filled the Pride lands is almost a distant memory. Not so terrible that it takes away from the movie but it does make you wonder if they could have just spent a little more on making it look more colorful and full of life.
Of course the movie isn't better then the first one. It is very hard to match the magic and overall wonderment that the first movie was but this does the job for a follow up quite well. We get to see what happens to our favorite characters after the first movie and meet some new friends and have a few more adventures and battles with a few songs mixed in. I don't see any problem with that. If you are expecting another Lion King 1 then you may want to look elsewhere. But if you are expecting a great movie with your favorite characters in it, well this is the one for you. Definitely get it. It is a wonderful sequal and something that all ages will enjoy. Just be ready to skip some of the songs and take it for what its worth, which is a made to video movie.
