Excellent Movie!

This is one of the best and oldest war movies ever made. I was taking a leadership course and we watched this movie as part of the training. The leadership examples throughout the movie are great. Some of the leadership tactics are subtle while others are in your face, but this movie covers many important facets of being a good leader. Aside from that, it is a great war account based on true events and is worth owning.

VERY dated videos, but damn, the Loaf can sing!

I can't help but think that even Meat cracks up when watching some of these videos. Don't get me wrong, Meat Loaf blasts out the songs with his remarkable voice and the DVD is absolutely enjoyable... I just kinda get the same feeling I get when looking back at my old high school yearbook. Listen to the music, listen to him sing the words. Meat Loaf is an incredible, and enduring talent.

Awesome!

This is kinda a different approach for the wonderful Olsen TwinS Mary-Kate and Ashley..What i mean is this is totally silly humor that is like that of Mel Brooks or Monty Python or even say that of a Lesilie Nealson (of Naked Gun/Airplane) movies..Only difference is picture that humor put into family entertainment form..To me this is their 2nd best movie (the first best being It TakeS TwO:) This movie is just one of those comedy movies that is soooo silly that you find yourselves laughing so hard it may take a 2 or 3 times to catch everything..Brillant comedy in every sense of the word..I could list some here but that will take away a lot for people viewing this movie for the first time.I will say one they are on search for a stolen jewel known as the "Neil Diamond" *nuFF Said LoL*.And on this quest they are chased by the most stupid and clutsy crooks since the robbers of home alone. In fact you get some of that Home alone kinda thing here as well..This is definatly the best of the "traveling" movies of the Olsen TwinS..Sit back relax and get ready to have loads of fun as you goooooooo downnnnnn under with the Olsen TwinS Mary-Kate and Ashely Olsen......

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Second Season - movie DVD cover picture
One of the best TV shows ever made

Building on the first season, this second season is often seen as the best by many long-standing fans. This is perhaps a wise choice as it is season two that really proved to the critics that `Buffy' was not just some ordinary science-fiction drama. Through use of metaphor the show has transcended its apparent limits. For instance, a boyfriend turning `evil' after the heroine sleeps with him and puberty being shown as being literally monstrous. If it were merely the show's intelligence that was standout then it certainly would be interesting to watch. However season two manages to combine various elements to prove once again that `Buffy' is one of the best TV shows at the moment.
This season has a distinctly gothic theme in accordance to its knowing nods to its several references. Yet maybe it is the pop-culture heavy dialogue and references from sources as broad as Humphrey Bogart to `The Exorcist', that make this show so original. With its intelligent themes it has won over the critics whilst its solid stories and clear knowledge of what being a teenager is like have endeared it to countless people from all age groups. In a particularly clever device, school is literally hell.
One thing certainly worth noting is the acting though, which is never less than excellent. It would be pointless to reel off names, yet Sarah Michelle Gellar brings a real vulnerability to her role as the slayer and is perfectly complemented by David Boreanaz as both her loving boyfriend and ironically her worst enemy. Also worth noting are the several new characters that appear in the second season such as Oz (Seth Green), Spike (James Marsters), Drusilla (Juliet Landau) and Kendra (Bianca Lawson). Whilst obviously centring around Buffy, the show does well to manage to progress all of its other characters as well. For instance, all of the main stars have an episode which is revolves around them, notably Xander with `Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered' and Willow and Oz in `Phases'.
With a winning formula of absolutely laugh-out-loud comedy, the programme has also managed to stage tragedy and drama effectively as well. Whilst the many comic episodes are superb, the pivotal and overwhelmingly tragic episodes are what really impress. Yet what is even more impressive is the fact that each of these episodes remains distinct and outstanding in its own right. In particular, `Passion' is devastating after an effective and genuinely scary build-up of tension. The mid-way episode `Innocence' has such a tenderly moving and upsetting final scene that it manages to evoke tears without death or injury. Season two manages to go out with a bang too, with a two-part finale which promises the end of the world. Under many directors this could well have been reduced to just a cheesy plot, yet writer and director Joss Whedon manages to create a real glimpse at the horrors of adolescence and has mastered all of the themes that seen synonymous with the genre, especially friendship and love.
Season two is a showcase for a show that not only has unerring popularity yet is also unerringly brilliant, witty and intelligent.

Please Re-issue!

This has to be the concert of the century. Until The Band assembled a similar all-star cast for their farewell in 1976, nothing has ever come close. The camerawork is a little fast on the eye but then it was 1970! Bob Dylan in his first US appearance after his motorcycle crash is at his coolest, while Clapton & Harrison make their guitars weep gently in perfect harmony. Please, if anybody out there is listening - Re-Issue!

I LOVE this film!

I can't believe anyone gave this movie 5 stars. Why? The story is so absolutely boring. It goes no where. I have a $15,000 home theater, and I love good and bad movies. My friends got so excited after I told them about the reviews, the golden globe awards, and the oscar nominations. One hour through the movie we were all crying out loud, "stop the movie." What's shocking is not that it's a bad movie. I would have tolerated it if the reviews said that it was, but critics were flipping A's and B's all over the place for this movie. I can't understand it.
Don't believe them. It's horrible. It'slow. And finally, the movie's trailer was mostly taken from the first few mintues of the movie. There were a couple of laughes in the first 20 minutes. Then, nothing.

U2 - Still the best!

This was the show that was broadcast over the web about a month ago, and it was actually shown on the TV here in Japan - lucky me! So I have actually watched this concert already, and I can testify to the quality of the filming and the sound. If you have watched any of U2's previous concert video releases, this one is pretty solid. Rattle and Hum was a little too over the top, and U2 live in Mexico was good, but PopMart didn't translate to video very well. This DVD will probably be the best U2 video experience - so regardless of the set-list, it is worth purchasing. Having seen U2 four times, the Elevation tour was by far the best, and most fans will appreciate hearing songs that have not been heard live since the ZooTV tour. For example, seeing U2 play a version of The Fly is definantly worth the purchase price alone. And I don't know about you, but U2 have not varied their treatment of classic songs very much, so I am not going to fret about the absence of 'Pride'. This concert was filmed post-9/11 - so there is a sorbering electricity about the band and the audience that you can pick up just by watching the concert. Any fan of U2 would be ill-advised to pass up on this DVD.

Very best love story ever!

I have never before been so touched by a movie! I even used some of the lines from the movie for my wedding vows. This is my husband's favorite movie of all time. He shared it with me the first time we met, at the end of the movie we were both in tears and still are every time we watch it. 'Somewhere in Time' has a very special meaning in the Dueben house.

great movie. i don't know what some of u are talking about!!

This movie was great. it had some great twists in it. just when u think u got it figured out, it goes into left field. the deaths in this film were gruesome and that's one of the main reasons i enjoyed it. it starts out a lil slow, but once they get on the island and from the 1st death, it starts rolling. but i have a question. WHY would they even think of spliting up when they KNOW bodies are dropping? common sense factor.

I Love This Film

Dangerous Laisons is quite possibly one of the best films ever. Im a fan of period drama in general but this film just fantastic. In fact it was because of this film that I fell hopelessly in love with John Malcovich. His performance as Valmont is flawless. Hes so evil, what women could resist?
Glenn close is spectacular in the type of role she does best in. Michelle Phieffer and Uma Thurman are also excellent. Its just a great film. I advise every one to give it a go.
