Excellent Movie

This is a very good little movie. I was impressed with the originality of the story. The directing and cinematography are superb. One of the actors is a little weak but fortunately he gets killed off early on. The editing is excellent. I loved the locations. It is definitely a keeper and I hope the filmmakers treat us with another one soon.

It's fantastic and amazing and spectacular....It's bananas good!!!!

There are no words to describe how much I actually love this dvd. I've owned it for about a year now and I've watched it at least 200 times from beginning to end. I couldn't ever imagine a better cast, Colm Wilkenson will always be the perfect Valjean, and Lea Salonga put a whole new spin on the character of Eponine. She brought a little bitterness and anger into her songs, which made them that much more powerful.

The scene stealer had to be Michael Maguire though, he was AMAZING... The best Enjolras ever! I've heard a lot of people complain about his performance (His voice was too "tinny" and he butchered the high notes, ect. ect). I'm definitely not a professional singer, but to me he was perfect. He brought so much life and power into every single song, and considering that he hadn't been a part of Les Miz in 10 years and was a last minute replacement at the concert, he did damn well for himself. His perfomance was the best, and his presence made the whole night pure magic. his version of "Do you hear the people sing" never fails to give me shivers.

I know, this is all screaming "Stalker", isn't it?? Ah well, I can't help it, lol. I love Les Miz, I love the dvd, and I love Michael Maguire :)

Great Movie - Excellent DVD

I really enjoyed Fight Club. I do not think it was overly violent. The violence that was displayed in the movie was definately neccessary to the movie's overall premise. Edward Norton does an absolutely excellent job portraying our narrator ("Jack"). His internal conflict at his life is obvious as we pan through his condo - with price tags on everything visible. Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) is his single-serving friend who brings this conflict to light. The movie progresses & I won't spoil the plot as others have done - other than to say - I just loved this movie. Helena Bonham Carter plays the trashy Marla wonderfully. She finally takes a break form all of those period flicks!
The DVD itself - I give it 5 stars. It has got so many extras on the supplemental disc - I still haven't gone through them all. I am definately looking forward to finishing it though!
Your money WILL NOT BE WASTED on this DVD. I am so glad I bought it. Be sure to check out the deleted scenes!

That '70s Show - Season One - movie DVD cover picture
Just recently gotten into "That 70's Show."

I got this DVD boxset for Christmas and let me to ya'll a lil' something...IT IS ONE OF MY FAV presents! 25 full episodes, the COMPLETE first season! 25 episodes is A LOT for one season (since a regular season of any show usually consists of 13 episodes...).

You get a world-view TV spot of the show, which was very, very cool to see, man. (HEHE)
Also you get a longish feature of "The Makings," featuring the whole cast. They explain the first season, thus introducing you to their feelings of the characters they play.
ALSO you get a mini-quiz (questions told by the cast). Ashton, Wilmer, Topher, Laura, and Mila ask you questions. Danny Masterson and the rest of the cast arn't featured in the quiz bonus.

If you love unique, funny, and original story ideas than you should watch "That 70's Show." (and did you know that the show in general is coming back for an 8th season this fall?)

Well, it's about time!

At long last on DVD! And nicely done, too! Finally I can discard my taped-from-PBS-with-tons-of-fundraising- blather VHS tapes. DVD extras include biographies and filmographies of the series' many stars (including one for Sebastian's teddy bear Alyosius), a production history (text, not a making-of featurette), a nicely prepared companion booklet, a photo gallery of the Castle Howard where much of the filming took place, and a tongue-in-cheek interview with the director about how success went to Alyosius's head. [One minor gripe is that the on-screen text is very difficult to read, which is too bad because there is quite a bit of good information presented in this manner.]
But, make no mistake, the real reason to buy this DVD is that it is probably the best television program ever. The book, the filming, the acting, the ability of the story to make us question the way we choose to live and treat our fellow human beings is truly exceptional. It holds up perfectly. Brideshead is great art and does Waugh proud.

A Christmas Carol(1938)-(Colorized)

In my opinion, this is the best version of the Dickens classic on film.It is more specific asto Scrooge's relationship with the other charactersin the movie. It is one of two great Christmas filmsthat Gene Lockhart performed in.He was also thejudge in "A Miracle On 34th Street"(1947).Lockhartand Reginald Owen gave sterling performances in this film.I hope it comes out on DVD very soon.

Just as good as Miyazaki's other film "Totoro" that was dubbed into english. The animation is very colourful and the story is a treat for grownups too. END

Good heart, good laughs, good fun

The more I see of Spencer Tracy, the more underrated I think he was as an actor. And this is the kind of film where he excelled, the everyman comedy with sentimental touches of drama and romance. "Father Of the Bride" is not a cutting edge social commentary, just a humorous slice of life regarding a middle class Joe whose daughter is the apple of his eye, and the man in her life is suddenly someone else. The inherent tension and humor in this situation and all that follows makes for a sweet film with no sour spots except that its B&W nature makes it impossible to fully appreciate young Liz Taylor's remarkable eyes. The Steve Martin remake is OK, but there was only one Spencer Tracy, and if only for that difference this original version is much preferred. A classic for the ages, and one that all ages can enjoy.

Must-see ex-TV

Thank god for DVD. I somehow missed this show when it was first aired. The show has a huge cult following, and now I see why. Joss Whedon is a master of the drama-action-comedy genre. As with the fantasy element in Buffy and Angel, the sci-fi part of the show is great fun, but it's not the heart of the show. The characters and the relationships between them are great and complex. The dialog is zippy. And each scene has incredible detail in language, costuming, sets, and plot, so you can find something new each time you watch it. It's a masterpiece, and I can't wait for the spinoff movie Serenity to arrive (...)
