This is a beautiful video. The nature shots and photography are topnotch and the New Age music is both relevant to the video tracks and wonderfully relaxing to listen to. I certainly would recommend this video to anyone who appreciates this genre of videos.

Why was this cheaper?

This movie is probably up there in one of my favorites. This is a great movie about a robbery gone wrong. Quentin Terantino's great dialogue brought this movie together with his great skill in directing. This movie is very special because unlike much other bank robbery movies, this doesn't focus on the reward(example: money). This movie is made so the viewer watches the act of everything going on, everything that is in between the actual robbery. It's like reading in between the lines, but Terantino gives the viewer the image. This new kind of image creates a brillant film, which i thought had one of the most creative endings. *NO SPOILERS DONT WORRY* My favorite part in this movie is in the beginning of the movie when Steve Buscemi gives the whole speech on tipping...that was just some top notch dialogue. Overall this movie is a hit. This movie more than worthy to be in any person's dvd collection.

Emmy Rossum, Gerad Butler and Patrick Wilson Shine!

This movie was amazing, I thought that Emmy Rossum did a fabulous job as Christine Daae and Patrick Wilson played the ever charming Raoul perfectly. I also thought thought that Butler did a wonderful job of the phantom, very deep and powerful, which was essential the character's personality. The songs are perfect and Andrew Loyd Weber even wrote extra ones just for the movie. It's filled with romance, suspense and music. It was so incredible I saw it six times in the theater and am axiously awaiting its arrival on DVD. The live performance was the best I'd ever seen, but if you don't get a chance to see it, rent this movie, it'll feel like you're there!

Cosmos Boxed Set (Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Something outside of Hollywood

This is where the motion picture industry has missed out. In my younger years, I was able to catch mere bits and pieces of Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" and I loved every episode. Now that I have the boxed set, I can sit back, with my ENTIRE family of all things, and enjoy a wonderful journey through...well through everything in the cosmos literally. There is no flash and trash Hollywood special effects so some things require an imagination but that's what makes this so great. The ultimate and most satisfying element about the series is that you are actually learning something while your eyes are ears are being stimulated.

For those like me who waivered on purchasing this boxed set...don't wait. It's worth the price and pays for itself over time. Enjoy.

Shaun of the Dead - movie DVD cover picture
There is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie

The British have produced another excellent example of how to rip off a movie; this time a zombie one. Combining blood, guts and gore with cultural icons such as the cricket bat, the spade and undertones of understatement, I nearly choked to death on this one. I am still in some discomfort from laughing.

Simon Pegg is just a treat as Shaun, (the hero of the story), and his facial features, mannerisms and expressions caused more than a few discomforting muscular spasms and cramping. Nick Frost is also the perfect guy to play the slob best friend Ed. Their adventures in attempting to rescue Liz, (Shaun's ex-girlfriend), his Mum and her husband, along with Liz's friends, are hilarious.

One of the things I especially liked about this movie is the way in which the gore is not the only humour. In typical British style, the humour comes on a few different levels, and that provides some more interest. Situational humour figures big in this movie, for example with Shaun and Ed making an impromptu rap song with a zombie providing back-up groans was a highlight. The humour went from the simplistic to quite subtle in the same movie. It provided a depth that could be enjoyed by most people.

I thought it was a great movie, and was a lot of fun. There is something for everyone, though not for the faint hearted. It is pretty gory. However, the tissues would come in useful for the excruciating pain of watching this movie. I think I have permanently damaged my throat.

This movie is first class: period.

Millenium edition is the DVD to get!

I just don't know what it is about this movie that grabs my attention. It doesn't matter what you do, where you run, or where you hide. They are there! There is no escape! They won't stop til you are dead! The original 1968 Night of The Living Dead is a true horror masterpiece. There are many versions of this film but this one remains the best. The zombies are...awesome, to say the least. When a few characters are killed by an exploding car, the film continues with a grotesque display of the zombies eating the left over body parts. The actors (especially Duane Jones) did a wonderful job, especially since this was their first movie! The ending, in my opinion, is probably the best ending in any movie of the genre. I won't spoil it for you, but even the grizzly images during the credits will make you think. The original Night of The Living Dead is a true horror classic that should not be missed.

As for the 30th anniversary edition, I advise everyone who is a fan of this film, or someone who has never seen this film before to avoid it as much as possible. They add a new beginning with two guys driving the casket of the first zombie (the first one we see in the cemetery played by Bill Heinzman) from the prison where he was just executed to the cemetery where he's to be interred. A cheesy bald priest and the parents of the little girl that the dead guy apparently killed are there waiting for the body. The girl's father wants to see his body to make sure...and then spits on it and leaves with the girl's mother. The dead guy stirs, gets up, and bites the priest...then he wanders away leading us to the REAL beginning of the movie. They took out the whole "driving up to the cemetery" stuff from the original, and begin the older footage with Barbara and Johnny stopping and getting out.

During the film, they've added a car crash family of zombies, as well as some zombies from the Diner where Ben came from (all played by family members and friends of the "flim makers"). Some feeding stuff...nothing big.

Finally, at the end, after Ben is shot, they superimpose a "One Year Later" and show some reporter going to visit the cheesy priest in the hospital. He didn't die from his wound, because of "prayer" and crap like that. Oh, and he has a dog named "Mewshew" (not sure if that's the spelling...but that's definitely the pronunciation) that he has so that, in case he DOES turn into a zombie, he can chow down on it rather than some person who's near by.

Anyway, it's HORRIBLE. The acting of the new people is just pathetic...especially the priest (who just happened to do the new score for the movie...which was equally horrible). Also, they said how they "seamlessly" intercut the old footage with the new, and how Bill Heinzman looked exactly how he looked back then due to the great make up FX...but that was utter *beep* Very sad. Very pathetic. Avoid it.

Arguably, the best version of the film to buy on DVD, this disc won't let you down. It boasts remastered picture and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo.

Roman Holiday

A princess visiting Rome is taken in for the world's biggest scoop by an American reporter...
Off-screen, Peck was so convinced Hepburn would win an Oscar, he insisted she share top billing with him. Unknown before the picture was released, the film indeed made Hepburn an overnight star and netted her the Oscar. Not only could she act, the camera loved her as it has loved few actresses. Peck and Albert are both terrific, and Wyler's on-location shooting is flavorful and evocative. This timeless romance is ideal for adults and older children.
