Epitaph for an Empire

THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING is an excellent adventure film set in the nineteenth century about two opportunists who conspire to gain control of a small mountain kingdom in Central Asia. It is based on a Rudyard Kipling story. The movie is directed by John Huston. Sean Connery and Michael Caine play the parts of the two adventurers while Christopher Plummer has a small role as Rudyard Kipling. The motion picture drags in spots but overall it is quite memorable.
THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING won Oscar nominations in 1975 for Best Adapted Screenplay, Costume Design, Art Direction and Editing. In that same year ONE FLEW OVER THE CUKOO'S NEST received the Academy Award for Best Picture.

TZ in chronological order!!

In response to some of the other reviews, it has happened...yes you can get the TZ collection in chronological order - all 156 episodes. I just ordered it and absolutely love the set. I found the set for sale at mediaracer.com. It's a great price, plus the special features discs have some very cool hidden easter eggs! I won't ruin it for ya, but it's something you should definitely look into, if you love TZ as much as I do.

Like Everyman, Every Southern Family

Almost didn't watch this movie....wasn't in the mood for musicians trying to be actors....but decided what the hey, might be lighthearted and worth the video rental price...ended up really enjoying it, even coming to amazon.com to buy it. This film has many southernisms and dysfunctional-but-you-gotta-love-them familyisms. We adopted several lines in our own family "You know yo Daddy love us!" ....a certain sign that we enjoyed it! It had excellent situational comedy and Whoopi plays the most understated part of her career, and it really works!

Rare gem omong TV mediocrity.

Show has fantastic writing, great character developement and superb acting. I'm a sucker for urban crime drama and this show is as true to its subject matter as it can get. some may say that it would gain a lot as an HBO vehicle but it rides the line without being gratuitous and keeps integrity in the storytelling. The show doesn't play out like it has compromised anything.
The first 2 seasons are a lot stronger than the 3rd (but what show doesn't follow this pattern). Regardless, i'll be buying the 3rd when it comes out in February. WAtch 3 episodes and you'll be hooked.

Best Ever

My sister borrowed Newsies from a friend and loved it. I'm a deaf person but that didn't stop me from enjoying the video. The movie was visual with fun songs. (Cute guys dancing some nifty steps.) Newsies isn't all music and dancing, it got a story based on true events woven into with the musical stuff. Hey! Haven't you seen this movie? No? Go, go, go! Rent or borrow this movie. Bill Pullman is also in the movie....

AS GOOD AS NUMBER 1

Halloween 2 was as good as the first one. This sequel has the blood, gore, and great deaths as the other one. Even though the other Halloween movies were bad this one is a must see. There is only one aspect that I don't understand at the end of this one Dr. Loomis blows himself up in the room with Michael Myers yet he is still alive in the next three sequels. That is the only bad aspect of this movie, but otherwise it's great.

about the only word that comes to mind is WOW!

WOW. i saw these guys in cleveland and this was even more fun to watch. this dvd allows you to see everthing. the special features are real cool. mike's drum solo was nice. the multiangle special feature was nice since i am a bassist i never get to see the bass player and now i can. it was quite impressive. after watching it i felt like a failure as a musician becaue i could never do that if i practiced for another 10 years. back to the video. the picture quality is very good. it is in fullscreen format. would rather have the widescreen but that is not a big thing. the music quality is also good. like i said before the only thing that comes to mind is WOW. this i think is superior to the live scenes dvd from a few years ago. this is a full concert rather than an excerpt with change of season at the end. the tallent of these men is just disgusting. it is just amazing what they do and it is so effortless. i enjoyed this dvd and the special stuff very much. i just have to wait to get the cds till christmas.
