Elephant - its about what you see...

Elephant is a troubling, yet extraordinary story that depicts several parallel storylines in an Oregon High School that represents the calm before the storm. These parallel plots symbolize different social groups, beliefs, values, and notions that leading to a domino effect towards the disturbing ending of the film. These plots are carefully directed and meticulously placed together in order for the audience to shape their own perspective on the horrifying deeds of a few high school students. In the end, Elephant offers an excellent cinematic experience that coerces the audience to cognitively participate in order to receive the full cinematic experience.

A Style All Its OWN

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a delightful tale of three convicts escape from prison in search of "hidden treasure." The movie is set on a back drop of bluegrass music from the 20s, 30s, and 40s which bring the story to life. Although the characters are fairly stereotypical, they have a life of there own. Many hidden suprises await both the convicts and the viewers on their journey.

South Park Seasons 1-4

I am a huge fan of South Park, and I was about to buy each season seperatly until I found this nice little 4 season pack. It was a much better deal, and much more convinent to buy them all at once. For parents, if you let your children watch this show on T.V. because it is bleeped out, this is still alright too, because they still bleep out the dirty words.

But for all you South Park fans like me, here is some info. The creaters of South Park talk a little bit before each episode, which is very funny. I have to admit that I havent watched the last season yet, but I don't really need to in order to write a review because I have already gotten the full impact of success on these DVD's.

If you are a huge South Park fan, this is a great buy.

Excellent Movie

This is a very good little movie. I was impressed with the originality of the story. The directing and cinematography are superb. One of the actors is a little weak but fortunately he gets killed off early on. The editing is excellent. I loved the locations. It is definitely a keeper and I hope the filmmakers treat us with another one soon.

One of My New Favorites!

I saw this movie on VHS video a few months ago and fell in love with it. I admit that when I heard what it was about - how Minnie Driver has David Duchovony's dead wife's heart - I was like "oh how dumb!" But the movie is REALLY good. I think one of the best things about it is that Driver and Duchovony have a great chemistry and at the same time it is isn't filled with lovey-dovey crap that makes you wanna throw up. Great comic reliefs in this movie are Bonnie Hunt and James Belushi together as a Catholic married couple with several children. Belushi is hilarious! You will also like Carroll O'Connor (of All in the Family) as Grace's (Minnie Driver's) grandfather. (. . .) You will not be disappointed with this movie!

Great DM DVD

A word of warning - If you're thinking about buying the One Night in Paris DVD, don't do it! I had this one and ended up selling due to disappointment. I've been to several of DM's concerts back in the late '80's and early '90's and the DM I saw back then is what I was reminded of in this DVD. Devotional is much better in my opinion. Gahan's vocals are much less embellished (a good thing) and he showcases his talent much better in this one -- maybe the drugs and being younger had something to do with it, but nonetheless, it still works for me. Song selection is good, though I am partial to some of their later releases, such as Ultra, songs of which are not captured here.

A unique story and video

5 stars for the story. A little less for the seams that may show. This is an excellant western from the early 60's. The story is sweeping and beautifully shot. If you got this video in a pan-and-scan version I feel sorry for you though. As the first "Cinerama" movie shot with a story this video can only be viewed in widescreen. Due to the age of the movie there are parts that the "3-frame" windows are quite obvious. Don't let the seams distract you from a marvelous story and spectacle of this near classic movie. You will not be disapointed. JUST GET THE WIDESCREEN OR THE DVD. REMEMBER NO PAN AND SCAN.

dump your VHS version

I'm not going to waste your time telling you about the movie, and how great it is. The only thing I have to say is someone did something right for a change. Whoever put this one together gave you the full version as it was first shown. My advice if you know and love this movie, this is the one to buy, and dump your VHS.

A must buy!

This is my second favorite of roger moores. The spy who loved me has a good solid story, even though it does share similarities with you only live twice. barbara bach played an excellent russian agent and she was cool, and yet never took anything away from bond. the lotus is an exciting car even today and the action scenes with it are very exciting. the movie is a little light on the gadgets. the end fight is big and grand and exciting. the dvd features are excellent and the 41min documentry is very informative, with short interviews with jaws and some of the bond girls as well as the director etc. the digital sound is clear, but there is very little use of the rear speakers, especally compared to world is not enough. but it is still an excellent movie and a good addition to your dvd libary.
