Ease into the Thomas Series with this video

If you have a child who is easily frightened by anything even remotely scary, this a good choice. The video is composed of about 5-6 short stories, none of which rises to the level of scary (which is not the case with many of the other Thomas videos).
The theme here is snow, snow, snow. There are brief allusions to Christmas, but probably don't total more than 2 minutes of the 34 minutes of running time.
For my kids, this is the most popular Thomas video. I can't begin to estimate how many times they have watched it. They particularly like singing to the "music video" that concludes the tape.
We have five Thomas videos, this is by far my 3 and 4 year-olds' favorite.

Live in Red Square is Real...It's Intense...It's History!

I loved the gritty feel of this video. It made it feel authentic and not just another "canned video" that that had a slick studio feel. The music is phenomenal...the concert historical.

McCartney does it again..and again...always an original. It's a uniquely intense visual experience. He always is an original and continues to innovate and awe us.

I've been a McCartney/Beatles fan since Sgt. Pepper's, and although my life has changed over the year, my respect has remained intense. Just came across a story Paul McCartney contributed to "Kids Who Think Outside The Box"(Worth Picking Up a Copy). He wrote it himself along with 30 other "living legends", Spike Lee, Academy Award Winners, etc. He said that his advice to unique and creative kids is "To Thine Own Self Be True". That's how McCartney lives, that's how he creates...that's why this dvd is so artistically creative.

off the hook

if you liked watching this show while it was on tv, you'll love being able to watch episode after episode, without commercials and without the need to wait a cringing week to see what happens next. when i first got the set i watched six episodes non-stop, and would probably have gone further but for work early next morning. it's definitely worth the forty-fifty bucks that you'll pay for it, and if you're a fan, it's a must have.

American Psycho (Unrated Version) - movie DVD cover picture
I am shocked

I have managed to see this movie twice now. At no point could I find the black humor that some people seem to see in it. Rather, I would call this true horror. Just the idea that people are self-centered to the point of being able to mistake one person for another is mind blowing.
Some people have stated that the chainsaw scene is one of the best parts of the movie. I disagree. To me the real point of the movie is driven home when he returns to Paul Allens apartment to find it completely cleaned up. The shock comes when the rental lady simply asks him to leave and not come back. If this single scene isn't the greatest depiction of horror even played, I don't know what is.
To sum up, if you're into thinking movies buy it. If not, go somewhere else.

Best War Movie ever made

This is the best all out war movie ever produced. It has little of the silly manufactured, contrived Hollywood bologna. There is no love story, no big morallesson, no phoney conflict amoung the men (like in Platoon), no hugs, and glorification of the enemy, as in many forgetable Hollywood schlock .

Just what a western should be!

For all you who think that the movie was too gory, bloody, cruel and unreal YOU NEED TO SWALLOW THE REALITY PILL! Life is too gory, bloody, cruel and sometimes unreal. The movie itself was totally beleiveable. It WAS like that back then no matter how weird it seems, not that the movie is weird.IT'S AWESOME! I don't think it ruined lonesome dove,it perfected it. I highly recommened this movie. And the fact that there is a VERY hot, young, killer in the movie does not color my views!

Possibly the best movie of 2004

Wow...where to start? First of all, the plot is ingenious and so original. It may seem like just another love story at first, but once you get into the movie, you realize that this is so much more than a love story. It is a revelation of how important our memories are and how despite our wanting to be rid of some, they can never be undone and will shape the person we become.
Next, the acting is incredible. I will never look at Jim Carrey the same way. While he proved he can play a character other than a quirky dimwit in The Majestic, he has really outdone himself as the somewhat soft-spoken Joel. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an Oscar nod. His performance was that good. Kate Winslet also did an awesome job as the free-spirited and impulsive Clementine. You can't even tell she has an English accent in real life! Dunst, Ruffalo, Wood, etc., completed the amazing ensemble. However, Carrey and Winslet shine in this movie.
Finally, this is the kind of movie where you have to really pay attention in order to understand everything, which I love about it. The movie bounces back and forth between Joel's memories and what's happening in real-time, so it is definitely not for those who need a sequential movie. However, if you pay attention, everything will come together.
I can't say enough positive things about this movie. I would say this is one of the best films of 2004, and I would be very disappointed if the film didn't get any Oscar nods. It definitely deserves it.

Glenn Close is really, truly scary in this one

What superb casting. Director Adrian Lyne has crafted a not-your-average stalker/thriller that gathered six Academy Award nominations. The dialogue of this freaky and progressively scarier and scarier film rings absolutely true, and terrific acting keep everything together and viewers on the edge of their seats. It all starts with a quickie, a weekend fling by Michael Douglas. He's over it in a couple of days, but SHE is NOT. She's mad enough to...well, mad enough to boil a bunny, the film's 2nd most gripping scene. Watch it yourself to learn what the MOST gripping scene is.Yowtch! It's a good one.
