Home Alone - movie DVD cover picture

This is by far the best christmas movie of all time because its mixture of comedy and some sort of actions.

The strange thing is that i am watching this movie at the this very moment, and its not even christmas WEIRD.(By Jay byrne)

Also i have to say this is a christmas classic and should not be put down as a bad kids movie, its alot more than that its a film for all ages.

What is brillant about the acting in this Joe Pesci!! It really shows his flexibilty as an actor. I mean look at the likes of 'Goodfellas'...he plays a physco gangster!! THen in this film he is funny character with many humbles of fun.(Al Breso)

Its a brillant movie with a great sence of humour,

'Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal........and a happy new year'

No warm and fuzzy Tom Hanks here

ROAD TO PERDITION is a major departure for Tom Hanks. He kills people. And don't expect to see Meg Ryan as a cutely tousled co-star. Besides, it rains so much in this film that it would've made her look like a wet doggie.
It's 1931, and Hanks plays Michael Sullivan, an enforcer working for crime family head John Rooney (Paul Newman). Though Rooney has an adult son, Connor (Daniel Craig), he regards Michael with the affection reserved for the son he wishes he'd had. Sullivan himself has a wife and two boys. In the film's first half-hour, Connor botches a job assigned to him and Michael by the elder Rooney. In the aftermath of the debacle, Connor kills Michael's wife and his youngest (and favorite) son for reasons too complicated to explain here. For the remainder of the film, Sullivan goes on the lam with Michael, Jr. (Tyler Hoechlin) seeking revenge against Connor while evading a hit man named Maguire (Jude Law) reluctantly hired by John Rooney to pre-empt the reprisal slaying of his own badly behaved offspring.
Those who are turned off by ROAD TO PERDITION because of the bloody deeds performed by Hollywood Good Fella Hanks, akin to watching Jimmy Stewart in the role of someone who kicks puppies, are perhaps missing the point. This is a powerful tale of the dynamic that exists between fathers and sons: John and Connor, Michael and Michael, Jr., and John and Michael. This is a Guy Story to be sure. Indeed, in the entire film there's no female lead worth mentioning and very little softness. Much of the magnificent cinematography is done in the dark, brooding atmospheres that one could expect in the Male's Cave. That's not to say that there's no humor. There's a sequence of scenes depicting the young Sullivan's mastering of driving skills that, in the context of the storyline, is positively priceless.
Early on, Newman, the mega-star of yesterday, and Hanks, the mega-star of today, play a piano duet (for real). But the sentimental favorite of ROAD TO PERDITION has to be the former, and I foresee a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Newman's blue eyes continue to shine out of a face that age (and perhaps cosmetic surgery) has only made more striking. Moreover, Paul's Rooney expresses more raw emotion in his relationship with his son than Tom's Sullivan can manage in his. Perhaps this was an intentional part of the script, or perhaps it's a reflection of the accomplished old pro that Newman is and Hanks has yet to be. And Law is especially good as the sinister and creepy Maguire whose hits provide fodder for his day job.
I liked this film a lot because it focuses on the nature of the father/son relationship, something which Tinseltown usually ignores. This is likely to be one of the better films of 2002.

Bottom Line...Diesel and Walker, need I say more?

This movie is just what its suppose to be. Its filled with fast cars, hot guys and tough chicks. The story line reminds me Point Break. Ya know the whole cop going undercover to find the crooks and getting in tangled in their lives so much he doesnt want to let it go. But I loved Point Break and I loved The Fast and the Furious. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are exceptionally hot and and Michelle Rodriguez does what she does best...acts like a tough chica who can hang just as well as the guys. I recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for an adrenalin ride of fun.

My favorite Scorsese film

This is a beautiful film, achingly tragic, and a moving portrayal of the 14th Dalai Lama as a youth. The cinematography is dazzling, and vividly shows us the culture and struggle of the peaceful nation of Tibet. Inexplicably, the Oscars ignored this movie. Please don't make the same mistake !

Brilliantly, The Beat Goes On!

I am thrilled to finally have great episodes of the Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour available on DVD! I loved these shows as a child and thirty years later they are still funny, charming and full of great musical numbers! How lucky we are to have this set available! This collection includes nine complete episodes (six from the original run of the Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and three from their reunited run on The Sonny & Cher Show). Laverne at the Launderette, Raggedy Sonny and Raggedy Cher, and the classic V-A-M-P segments are just a few of the great regular series features represented in this collection. Just a partial list of guest stars includes: Don Knotts, Farrah Fawcett-Majors, Tina Turner, then Gov. Ronald Reagan, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Carroll O'Connor and Glenn Campbell. There are many great musical numbers by the weekly guests and of course Sonny and Cher! Many Sonny & Cher hits and Cher's solo hits are spotlighted in this collection, including: "All I Ever Need Is You","Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves", "The Way of Love", "A Cowboy's Work Is Never Done", "Half-Breed", "Dark Lady", "The Beat Goes On", and "I Got You Babe". Each show's opening segment was a bright musical duet from Sonny and Cher and always included one of their famous dialogue exchanges. The openers to each of these shows are priceless and remind me of just how much I love The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and how happy I am to be able to view it again! This collection also contains a great amount of bonus material highlighted by audio commentary (on select segments) by Cher. This commentary was recorded in August of 2003 and is a wonderful addition to the collection. Recent interviews with the shows producers, and Sonny & Cher's 1969 pilot spot on the Barbara McNair Show, are just two of the other great segments included in the bonus material. The visual and audio quality of "The Sonny & Cher Ultimate Collection" is outstanding! I hope this is the first of many editions!

While the story deviates a bit from the classic literature, this film is simply a must-have for any DVD collection. It has it all; action romance, heroes, bad guys... One could want for little more in what has become for my wife and me, a great Sunday afternoon movie.

This video is one of the best Backstreet videos yet!! If you're looking for great harmony, awesome solo performances, and actually HEARING the Backstreet sing LIVE in concert, this is the video for you! Howie pays a good rendition of "My heart stays with you"; AJ is just very sensual in "Lay down beside me"; Nick beautifully sings "I need you tonight"; Kevin actually plays the piano during a song that he wrote, which was at the time still nameless and later became "Back to your heart"; and Brian introduces us to a brand new and might I add BEAUTIFUL song written by him in the medley "That's what she said/Where can we go?"... and if that's not enough, they sing "Who do you love?", the whole song!! I'm telling you, it's a must!!!

CdS is a hit!

It is pretty audacious for the 25-member Canadian troupe called Cirque du Soleil to claim they reinvent the circus, but after you enjoy this hour-long tape you will not be particularly inclined to disagree. Here is the traditional big-top assortment of clowns, wire walkers, aerialists and balancing acts that will remind you a lot more of modern ballet more than traditional Barnum & Bailey. You will see astounding feats and you will remember not only them but the great flair with which they are performed. If you do not get to see Cirque Du Soleil in person, then have the circus in your own living room by watching this or any of their other tapes. Enjoy this with your kids (even if you don't have any, you were one once, right?)
