Don't tell anyone I like this movie

Don't tell anyone I like Singles. I have the DVD and some of my friends ask whose it is. I say some girl must have left it at my house or something. But secretly, I like this movie very much. It's a time piece of early 90's Seattle. Watching it now, it seems a little dated but the whole plot and dialogue of the movie is not dated. I think all the interconnecting stories tie in very well. But not like I really watch this movie or anything. SOmeone just left it at my house. I only watch Rambo.

Sideways (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Highly original!

Sideways is about two friends who decide to take a road trip through California to celebrate Miles's achievement in completing his book. On the way, they meet two females (Virginia Madsen and Sandra Oh) and ALL hell breaks loose.

Character development in this movie is top-class and the seemingly minor incidents in this movie would make any "thinking person" analyze the consequnces of his/her decision. For example, Miles (Paul Giamatti) and Jack (Thomas Haden Church) are fond of telling little lies and this would lead to comical as well as catastrophic consequences. Miles is a depressed person while Jack is a "harmless" playboy who never realizes the consequences of his antics. These two unlikely pair creates an atmosphere of comical friendship.

In short, the story is excellent, the dialogue is filled with witty humour and the actors were brilliant. This movie was also nominated for 5 academy awards including best picture and best director. This is unsurprising as the scenery in this movie is also breathtaking. However, I would not recommend this movie for action and horror buffs. These viewers WILL find this movie boring. This movie is for those who appreciate fine acting and thoughtful dialogue.

I love it!!!

I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old son for Christmas, since he is a big fan of Pokemon, and he LOVES this! He sits through the entire thing from beginning to end, and anyone with young kids knows how amazing that is! The episodes are actually interesting, I actually found myself watching them with him and not getting bored! If you have a child that loves Pokemon or Pikachu, I recommend this DVD highly!

La Femme Nikita is one of the most creative and innovative TV shows ever, and it deserves the DVD format. The story is intriguing, the characters complex, and the atmosphere and music engrossing. The show's fans, both current and future, should be able to benefit from a DVD collection of all this show's episodes.

Nazca - Eternal Power (Vol. 4) - movie DVD cover picture
::Crying softly:: The best anime ever!

Okay, if you like anime, and you're into Inca, Maya, Aztec, Olmec, et cetera, than you'll love Nazca.
Eternal Power is the conclusion to the four video series entitled Nazca. In this we see Tate (voice acted by Takehito Koyasu) beginning to call upon Iriyatesse. It's a beautiful conclusion to a fantastic anime.
I would whole-heartedly reccommend this video subtitled, rather than dubbed for many reasons. The masin of which is that Tate is voiced by Takehito Koyasu, the voice actor of such beauties as Zechs Merquis (Gundam Wing), Ayanojyo Aburatsubo (Magic Users Club), Mosquiton (Master of Mosquiton the Vampire), Tomahome (Fushigi Yugi), and also Kosaburo in Pokemon.
The animation is glorious, and the music, well, the music is something else. Fantastic and awe-inspiring. The opening theme, "Ai no fugue" is actually the Well Tempered Clavier Fugue by Bach. The singing and voicing of this song brought tears to my eyes. I reccommend this to all otakus of all ages, and also to any fans of the Latin American and Japanese cultures. There are some great Kendo fights in here.

A Collection of some of PGs best live

I saw this show live when Peter was in New Zealand several years ago. This is the next best thing to actually being there. I find myself putting this video on instead of the originals as it has far more ambience. If you enjoy any of Peter Gabriels music, grab this video!

Kathy Griffin - Allegedly - movie DVD cover picture
Allegedly by Kathy Griffin.

In a world where very few female stand up comedians make their own paths, there are still those few who shine like bright light bulbs. Those rare exceptions include: the very famous Ellen DeGeneres, Kathleen Madigan, Tammy Pescatelli, and the star of this DVD, Kathy Griffin.

I honestly was worried I wouldn't like it when I first read on the box that basicly she was going to insult celeberties for about an hour and a half. But this was just so fun to watch. I mean not only did you get to hear how the celebs really act off camera, you get to hear it in a comical aspect that was delivered perfectly by the wonderful graces of Kathy. She covered a lot in her 1 hour and 30 minutes of viewing time: from her VH1 Fashion Awards red carpet nightmare, to Book Shields' crazy wedding, to her battle on the set of The View with Barbara Walters, all the way to her USO tour to entertain the troops.

This DVD is uncensored and therefor not meant as a holliday gift for all the little ones to hear unless you approve of your kids watching this. She hides nothing; she goes full on hardcore with any celeb, which makes for a fun watch and lots of laughs.

The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby - movie DVD cover picture
Now on DVD, the best play ever put to video! Magnificent!

This is the absolute best production ever performed, without exception.
At first, I was a little daunted by the fact that it was nine hours long, but it didn't take long for me to become absolutely captivated. To say that the performances of the RSC actors are spectacular is an understatement. Between the 42 of them, they play hundreds of roles, and each one is a fully developed character that is completely different from the others they play. (Sometimes it's even hard to tell two characters are played by the same actor.) The only two actors who play one character are Roger Rees (Nicholas) and David Threlfall (Smike), both of whom are absolutely wonderful in their roles. Although of course the entire cast is too numerous to mention individually, big cheers go out to all of them, including Emily Richard (Nicholas' sister Kate), John Woodvine (their villainous uncle Ralph), Bob Peck (John Browdie and Sir Mulberry Hawk, two extremely different roles!), Suzanne Bertish (Fanny Squeers/Peg Sliderskew/Miss Snevellicci), and especially Edward Petherbridge, who plays Ralph's kindhearted clerk and Nicholas' friend, Newman Noggs.
One important warning, however: I do not recommend that you buy the DVD set. A&E has done a lousy job of putting "Nicholas Nickleby" on DVD's. There are some fantastic sequences that have been cut and some horrible errors that have been made (i.e. a character's voice echoing BEFORE he yells instead of AFTER; the fact that some really nice background music has been cut). Although the majority of the play is still intact, I highly recommend purchasing the video set instead.
The only other drawback is that at approximately nine hours, "Nicholas Nickleby" is far too short. :-)
