Don't listen to the bad ones

OK, first of all let me say that I went to see this movie in the theaters with no expectations whatsoever. The result is that it is now my favorite movie of all time. The reason people rate the movie badly is that most of the people who see it either expect it to be a scary movie, which it is not, or they see that it is a Shyamalan film and expect it to have an extremely shocking twist. However, this movie is all about the concept and story, and it offers small twists throughout. The major twist is guessable, but the way Shyamalan does it, it's like he wants you to figure it out. One of the main reasons the film is so good is it is full of emotion. All of the members of the cast do an amazing job, and the soundtrack is one of the best I have heard, with beautiful melodies and haunting sounds. So to anyone who wants to see it, if you want to see a scary movie, don't see it. However, if you want to see an amazingly good movie with a few chills and a great story, watch it. Actually, buy it. Now.

Read the book first!

...reading the book before seeing the movie is agreat help. The film leaves some things out, that if you had read thebook first, the movie would make a whole lot more sense to you. I admit, if I had seen this film without reading the book, I wouldn't have liked it. But, I was fortunante to get hooked on the book first and then see the film.

Can I give it 6 Stars?

I have to say that I am not familiar with any Constantine comics, games or had had any other contact with the character apart from this movie so I cannot compare the character to other sources, nor can I take part in discussing the technicalities and the specifics like other reviewers have. Therefore, coming from someone that did not "know" Constantine prior to the film I have to say that the movie was FANTASTIC!

Constantine, brings to the screen the story of an exorcist who gets himself embroiled in the schemes of two unlikely allies who want to bring forth the Apocalypse for their own sinister reasons.

There are slight hints of Van Helsing and the X-Files, and strong/obvious elements of the Ninth Gate (starring Johnny Depp) and the Prophecy trilogy (starring Christopher Walkin), so the movie falls into the action/adventure/mystery/thriller/horror type of category.
Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, and the rest of the cast have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are extraordinary to say the least! All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)!

The scenes in Hell are outstanding and the angels are as they are supposed to, making this movie one of the best of its kind. The plot, the setting, the dialogues, and the special effects, are all WONDERFUL!
Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection!

Constantine is a movie guaranteed to provide more than just an evening's entertainment; it is one of those films that gets you and keeps you thinking long after it's over.
In short, I would definitely line up to watch a sequel!

A Riveting Experience!

I was thrilled to discover that I could buy this video. I've been searching for a copy of it ever since I saw the PBS presentation back in the early 1980's.
The story was one of the most interesting and deeply-moving ones that I had ever seen, and inspired me to visit Salem with my family. Finding the Rebecca Nurse farmhouse was probably the highlight of our trip.
The acting, the script and the visual images of this movie combine to leave an unforgettable impression and a valuable history lesson.

OK, you all you need to find your innerchild and watch this movie! I was 11 years old when the first film came out and I was hooked forever. This movie is for those 11 year olds today..and guess what..most of them loved it! So many of you complained about Jar Jar..did you know people said the same things about R2D2 and C3PO when the first film came out? Or that people bashed Yoda's character? Come on you guys this is not a great sweeping Epic drama like Gone With the Wind it is a wonderfull joyous trip to fantasy and dreamland! If you cannot take some of the step there on your own then no wonder you didn't enjoy it. Lucas cannot do all the work, your imagination has to work too! This is an excellent film. The people who asked about the difference in the technology have to think about how the Empire came in a destroyed things later, the Jedi, the Republic..think of the dark ages when mankind plunged into a dark period of history and much was lost. That is why the equipment is not a pretty in 4, 5 & 6. The Republic is over and the Empire has one has the money to be pretty. Enjoy this film as you would if you were 11 and you will love it!

Classic Horror

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Last house on the Left" showed these new guys how to do it!!! Forget the blood and guts, these two movies don't need it!!! and the low-budget "EVERYTHING" only adds to it, people!!!! both have stood the test of time, as we wouldn't be talkin' about it over thirty years later, Please!!! we'd have moved on to these ahem, new ones?! that have since come and gone, where are they?! Everything out there today is, in some way, loosely based on these two!!! don't kid yourself. Regardless, these two are here to stay, they aren't goin' anywhere...and i guess, those who just don't "get it" WON'T...the mood's all different today...but you guys who grew up in the 70's know what i'm talkin' about.

Sam Mendez delivers a masterpiece.

I've been looking forward to this film forever. A few years back I read in a magazine that Tom Hanks was gonna play a gangster in a film called Road to Perdition. From then on I couldn't wait. Well the day finally came and I sat down to watch this much anticipated movie... This film was SUPERB! I mean ... wow! I haven't seen a movie this good in a while. Minority Report was great, but RTP gave me the chills. Very rare. Everything in this movie is just done very ... well. First off I have to give props to Sam Mendez, who directed American Beauty. He's just a great filmmaker. The shots and camera angles he thinks up are amazing. The cinematagraphy is also VERY well done. Acting was top notch. Loved Tom Hanks and the rest. Let me tell you, the action in RTP is AWESOME! The shootouts feel very real and draw you in. I was shaking my legs throughout throughout the whole movie - it was tense! This film is an instant classic in my book. And will definitely be remembered in the oscars. Everyone MUST go see Road to Perdition. It's remarkable.

Midler is simply the best at singing, acting, and keeping the audience with great entertainment to make them cry and laugh at the same time. Her witty-ditty performance as Delores DeLago, the trashy mermaid, to the terrible jokester Sophie Tucker are just milestones of the best concert ever.
