The quintessential rock and roll "sixties band" documentary.

From the Filmore to the White House, no other American rock band epitomized the sixties as did the Turtles. From their ragged beginnings as a high school garage band to the international hitmakers that scored over 30 hits, this wonderful video takes you backstage as the group evolved from happy ragamuffins-- a local surf band in Los Angeles-- through all the legal stumbling blocks that finally tore the act apart. Flo and Eddie's now-famous "Manager Story" is an hilarious piece of showbiz legend, and the candid interview with those lads as well as with Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Ray Manzerek and Stephen Bishop among others makes this a must-own piece of history from the fine folks at Rhino Records.

Very Deep Ninja Movie?

OK, so it's not a ninja movie. Even though the only way these people fight hand-to-hand is through oriental fighting styles. Be that as it may, this film blew everyone away the summer of 1999, myself included. Granted, it took several viewings to get the whole thing figured, but that's alright. A story like this doesn't come along very often, and the mind-blowing visual effects are worth watching again and again and again. Keanu Reeves really doesn't have to do much here, other than fight judo-style, but he really doesn't have to. Laurence Fishbune is fantastic as Morpheus, the leader of the human resistance. Carrie-Anne Moss is a knock-out in her role as Trinity, the love interest for Neo(Reeves), and a real tough chick in her own fights. This film began the Matrix trilogy, and is easily the best of the three. It can stand apart from the other two, as it was originally meant to be a one shot deal. Personally, that's how I think of this film : as a stand-alone achievement. Not many movies this day and age make people go "huh?" and think about things the way this one did. Any DVD collection should include this fine film.

haley joel doesn't hold a candle

it's not that he isn't a great kid actor. the scene where he was first abandoned in A.I. really moved me to tears.
but a 11-year-old natalie portman is really something matilda, the suddenly-orphaned child trying to hide youth, vulnerability and desperate need to be loved under a cigarette-smoking tough-as-nails exterior, she moved me to tears even as she's making me laugh my sides out.
i would have forgotton completely she was a child if not for the fact she's so terribly tiny.
my favorite scene (and believe me in this movie it's hard to choose just one) is the one where matilda and leon are playing a game of guess who. it's a small, yet effective snippet of the affection between two people trying to find love, friendship & belonging where they can.
it's a delicate and fiercely intelligent movie, even though there is none of the high concepts and caustic verbal repartee so common in the so-called "intelligent" movie genre.
at the heart of this movie is two great actors (notice the lack of "child-actor" qualification) and a simple story, incredibly well-told.

"Ever After, A Cinderella Story"

This is one of the best films that I have watched in a long time. Jack and Rose's " Titanic" romance didn't even come close. Drew Barrymore potrayed a true and spunky heroine as Danielle in this movie. It should still be rated PG-13 because of the adult issues in this movie that children will not yet understand until they are older. I recommend that almost everyone should watch this.

My most watched film

This is probably one of my most often watched movies. I had skipped this movie for the longest time, thinking it was all about dance. It's not. Those in Theater tell me this is a good look at what goes on behind a big Broadway production. Those who knew Bob Fosse think it's a narcissistic self-serving film. I didn't think so. In my opinion, this is a movie about life, using an unfinished Broadway musical as a metaphor for all the loose ends we leave behind us when we leave this world behind. The movie is quite a roller-coaster ride of funny, sad, dramatic, and light-hearted scenes. Such is life.

Overlooked Gem of a Flick

This is quite simply an incredible movie which moves at a breakneck pace from the opening scene. The film is well-written with great acting, excellent direction, interesting cinematography, is funny as hell, and ultimately touches on issues as deep as love, priorities, right & wrong, and integrity. What else do you need? BUY THIS DVD IMMEDIATELY!

The Lizzie McGuire Movie - movie DVD cover picture

I wish people would just stop saying things like "Hilary Duff is a horrible actress" and "Hilary couldn't act for her life." She is a LOT better actress than most people. If you think Hilary Duff is a bad actress, compare her acting skills to yours. Could YOU do any better? No! Hilary has been acting since she was 10 (i think). If you want to see horrible acting, than just watch one of the Mary-Kate and Ashley movies. They have never made it to the big screen! Hilary Duff CAN act, so leave her alone! This movie was actually a success. Keep up the good work, Hilary!
