Delightful, Witty Comedy

This is a fantastic film that I can watch again and again to catch all the nuances and references to Biblical and philosophic ideas. Each of the main characters gives one of their best performances. There is a logical progression of events that lead one along the paths of the ideas that are being debated. Sam Neil and Hugh Grant give great performances as adversaries. Elle McPherson plays well against Tara Fitzgerald. There is something for everyone of every opinion but it is beautiful, there is a plot, and it makes you think. Who could ask for anything more. Recommended for everyone!

I bought Kiki for my son but I watch it more than he does.

I just love Kiki. I believe I like Kiki because I can relate to her even though she is still a child and I am an adult. There isn't any violance in the movie and the music is calming and delightful.I would love to see an sequel of Kiki and Tombo.

A Hellish Zombie/Horror film!

This Fulci film is byfar one of the most creepiest horror film around. The story may sound questionable but that has no effect on the film. It's haunting and grusome. It also builds tension in the final chases of the film that can't be explained. The gore is VERY extreme and gross! The zombies are so invincible and there is a feeling of deep doom through the whole movie. This is real horor...! Any horror fan will appreciate Fulci for making this one.

DISNEY DOESIT AGAIN!

Pirates of the Caribbean is a superb film consisting of all the criteria for a BLOCKBUSTER! Among many reviews I have read about this movie, a striking 95% of critics rave that this movie has got it all! Components of a good movie are improved to make this movie one of the best ever made.
You wonder how good this movie could really be? Picture award winner Johnny Depp and award winner Orlando Bloom in the same movie. Believe it now?
In short, a young lad by the name of Will Turner (Bloom) leads a blacksmith's life. All of this changes when he meets his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth Swan, played by the stunningly beauitful Keria Knightly. She is kidnapped by the evil pirate Barbossa (Rush) for she holds the pirate's necessity. Will Turner sets out to save her, but anamazingly humorous Johnny Depp, playing mischievious pirate Jack Sparrow accompanies him. They journey through stormy seas to save Elizabeth before Barbossa and his men can do any harm to her.
Out of the very, very, very few reviews claiming it to be a failure, this movie is exceptionally done and is a must see. Add this review to your pros when you are debating to see the movie and you will be on your way.
Also, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disney World/Land is really good, try it when you go!
By the way, what do you think about a Pirates of the Caribbean 2? :)

It's about time.

I saw this amazing movie on PBS in 1980 and later tried to locate it for VHS rental, I even called PBS to see if they could help me with broadcast times, but the movie seemed to have fallen off the radar screen. On a fluke, I just checked to see if the title would be available, and I really can't believe it is. I've found a long lost freind!
This movie is a must see for sci-fi lovers that like mind twisting plots. You really appreciate the twists and turns and the final scene will leave you feeling, well, you'll just have to see the movie. You won't be disappointed.

This movie was my life!!! (and LONG overdue for DVD!)

Any reviewer who says this movie was an unrealistic portrayal of American youth culture at the end of the 70's obviously wasn't a teenager at the time! This is hands down the MOST accurate portrayal of that era I have ever seen! Richie White could have easily been my old friend Ronnie Mahr. I was in Junior High when this came out, and this one really struck a chord with me. Watching it today is like stepping into a time machine. Never have I seen a film so perfectly capture the essence of an era... down to it's most minute details. As I understand, this was Matt Dillon's first major role ever... and he delivers a standout performance as the rebellious Richie White. The soundtrack is top-notch and really takes me back. Cheap Trick, The Ramones, AC/DC, The Cars... yep. I'm probably just repeating what everybody else has already stated, but I can't stress enough how great this film is, and how important it is to my generation. It blows my mind that this hasn't been released on DVD yet.

HOW DID THIS MOVIE GET PAST TROMA?!?!?!?!

From beginning to end this movie had Troma written all over it- the melting, the bad acting, the music, the penis football game; it was perfect! I have seen alot of crazy movies in my time but this was highly original and well worth the watch. It starts out with a good foot chase scene and then gets to the first melt victim, the following half hour or so was a little slow but the last half hour more than made up for ANY shortcomings. I found myself at the end wishing for just one more melt scene and when it didn't happen I just watched the movie again ( I'm a glutton for punishment!). The last song was horribly done by the lone mobster in the movie, but was a great finishing touch to this cult classic. I LOVED IT !!!!

Attack of the "RAY"-dosaurus!

Quite simply the archetype. Safe to say: there'd be NO Rodan, NO G-dzilla, NO kaiju at ALL were it not for the prescient genius of Lourie, Harryhausen et.al. Study this VHS in the quiet of your home, on a dark, moonless night with a couple of kids (your choice) under ten and a bucket o'popcorn. Look for Lee Van Cleef! My only carp is that we see the Rhedosaurus in the first reel. The blizzard's scary enough!! But, what the hey? Who's to say? The Beast is prominent on the poster (a three-sheet, backed with linen, did NOT reach its reserve on eBay recently -... and is a veritable pop icon now, up there with Ray's other creatures.A must own!

Sooo very good and true to the spirit of the book

I loved the movie and have already seen it 4 times (and read the book about 7) It is neccessary to pay attention when watching as there is a lot of information that can be lost if your mind wanders for a few weconds, but the film is very true to this wonderful classics. It is possible that it it would be best to read the book before watching this movie. I love the plush, archaic costumes and props, most of the actors are remarkable, and it actually comes over as believable! No mean feat! I'm a grandmother now, but I loved the book and movie as a much younger woman, and can reccomend them to people of any age above 12.
