Definitely Worth Buying

Some friends and I saw this movie while in Vegas last year. It was awesome. I couldn't believe it didn't get more recognition. I have been waiting for this movie to come out on DVD so the rest of my friends can see it. It is one of those movies that keeps you guessing all the way till the end. Devious Beings is not only worth seeing it is worth buying!

The Ten Commandments - movie DVD cover picture

If you don't like this movie, you are a stone cold idiot! Easter is just not Easter without this! Charlton Heston is the only person who can play Moses. Yeah, I know the script is full of some hilarious lines (such as Edward G. Robinson saying that Moses wrote those scriptures himself, after all he was in the mountains for three days)! But hey, at the same time it is a story that really keeps your interest if you are entertained enough. I do not understand some of these reviewers who are always talking about "reality" in the movies. In this world of murder, hate, serial killers, lust and down right scandal, it somehow feels good to watch a good film without all of the "emotional" baggage you feel after the movie is over. All entertainment does not have to have a "reality" concept. Plus let's face it, this was done in the late fifties; movie studios made films for entertainment and moral decency back then. And as far as the cast is concerned Yul Brenner is a delight as "Ramses" (and sexy as hell), Edward G. Robinson is just to slimy for words as "Dathan", John Derek is way too melodramatic as "Joshua" and best of all is Anne Baxter as "Neferteri" (Oh, Moses"...let me tell you she "lusted" for the man). I'm sorry this is the one and only for me. They just don't make them like this anymore!

Walk In The Rain

One of the most fabulus Anime series out there.CBB is one of the few series that mixes humor/action-adventure/romance and a whole bunch more. With characters like Spike,Jet,and Faye you will never be disapointed with entertainment. Not to mention the grat music and dubing along with some terific background effects. This set however isn't ment for kids. There is a lot of blood in it and shooting scenes.

The Brain That Would Not Die

"Um, doesn't she need lungs?""No. She has neck juice."
Mike Nelson, in his first episode as an actor, seems to fit right in in this lousy '50's sci-fi "shocker." This time, the movie isn't that bad, but Mike and the Bots find plenty of memorable jokes. The movie itself is about a mad scientist who gets into a car crash only to have his fiancee decapitated. So he rushes on over to his cabin and put her in magically revitalizing fluid (or "neck juice" as Crow so sensitively put it) and she becomes a nagging housewife, minus everything below her neck. This is a nicely done episode, not really one of the best, but it's a quintessential look at how the show works. For somebody just getting into the series, I would advise you to either watch MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE or this episode first. After that, you'll be begging for more!

Great movie, great DVD

This, I think, is the best Hitchcock ever- not at all scary per but incredibly mysterious. Hitchcock leads in ways you wouldn't expect, and one is certainly glad of it. Whatever you think will happen, won't. Superb acting by Joan Fontaine makes the viewer really feel for her, and Sanders uses mannerisms and a superior manner to excellently play a semi-removed, quizzical, and omniscient role. Has to be one of the top movies I've ever seen.

Watch this film with a friend

Director Brad Bird hit the nail on the head with his disgust that any animated film without a Disney branding on the label seems to dry up and blow away after a few days at the theaters. Tragically, that happened with The Iron Giant this year and it's a motion picture that is deserving of any number of awards.
A friend and I howled with laughter and cheered throughout our first time with The Iron Giant and we're two 30 year old guys, so you can easily imagine a child's eyes lighting up. There isn't one moment that doesn't enchant in some way or other, be it the wonderful character expressions, the rich blend of voices or what has to be one of the most intelligent and heart-felt film themes this year.
No furry animals, rousing soundtrack or massive marketing content...just a very special story about a young boy and his new friend growing up a little.

Revolutionary Girl Utena - The Rose Collection Vol. 1 - movie DVD cover picture
This is great--Utena starts a real revolution!

Are you tired of episodic shows like Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura? Do you want more out of your anime than girls changing into short-skirted superheroines or animals fighting each other in controlled battles? Do you want to see something deep--something that makes you think about what you're watching? Well, that is Revolutionary Girl Utena for you.
It starts with a girl dressing as a boy--and not just any boy, but a prince! She rescues a princess in the form of the Rose Bride, who is traded among the Student Council members as they win/lose fencing duels. Utena joins this group and befriends the shy, quiet doll that is Himemiya Anthy, the object of the duels. Along the way Utena has to contend with the insane Vice President Saijoni (who is obsessed with Anthy), the cold fencing team captain Juri, the suave womanizing President Touga, the child prodigy Miki, Touga's jealous little sister Nanami, and Miki's dominating twin sister Kozue.
They fight for the Rose Bride because she carries a hidden power that will allow her master/mistress to revolutionize the world, according to specifications set by the End of the World, who organized the whole thing. Utena fights just to protect her strange friend Anthy and to find the prince that rescued her when her parents died.
Warning, there are controvesial themes in this series, although it is not as explicit as the Utena movie. Incest abounds between Kozue/Miki, Anthy and her older brother(whom we meet much later), and Nanami longs for the affections of her brother. But Touga has his eye on another girl in the show...
This is a wonderful series and I wish I could give it more than five stars. It makes you think about many things, and leaves you with answers to questions you went even aware you had been thinking.
And the music rocks!
