Deep Dramtic Film

I attended a screening where Clint Eastwood spoke after the film. He is an outstanding director, who really knows how to tell a dramatic story. The cinemataphy is amazing in this film as well. Tim Robbins is outstanding in his role as a man who was abused in his childhood. The circumstances are sad and disturbing, but the story is very well told. Sean Penn is just amazing, and gives the performace of a lifetime. If you want to see a movie that combines superior acting skils, with wonderful direction, and a dramatic storyline, this is the film to see.

Final Encounter - movie DVD cover picture

On only a 2.5 million dollar budget this is quite a fun and well done movie. The acting is surprisingly good and the special effects are decent. But the main part that stands out in this movie is the music soundtrack. Great music for this movie! This composer should be proud of himself and should be getting more offers soon.

Top top stuff

The first Peckinpah I ever saw -- and it hooked me forever. Makes today's "action" flicks (Con Air, The Rock, The General's Daughter, etc.) look like the overwrought, underfilled plastic fantastics they are.
That, and McQueen and Duvall are cooler than you.
Plus the fights.

outside the english speaking world (5.7 billion people)

I would love to purchase Homicide Season 4, but the series I bought from you in the past had no (english) subtitles, although the website promessed it had. For those of us whose mother's tongue is not (American) English the closed caption option is vital to fully enjoy any DVD.

Heavenly Movie

I watched this film because I enjoyed FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING and TWO TOWERS and think that Peter Jackson is a talented director. I wanted to see more of his work in another genre.
HEAVENLY CREATURES is a wonderful and complex film. Jackson (and cowriter Fran Walsh) takes what could be a salacious story (homosexuality, sex, and murder) and makes an amazingly surreal and touching film. After the shootings in Columbine and other dastardly acts - including the two real-life New Zealand girls who are the subject of this story - Jackson gets into the state of mind of the youth. The two New Zealand girls (played by Kate Winslet and Melanie Lynskey) are too consumed by their fantasy world to know right from wrong. They are young and confused and their best recourse is their imaginations (incredible sequences with life-size clay people!).
Jackson has created a very theatrical world in HEAVENLY CREATURES. There are some hilarious filmatic references (including some funny bits about Orson Wells). The characters are complex, though. Jackson and Walsh made me understand WHY the girls chose to do what they did -- which doesn't make it right. But the film makes no moral judgment (which I appreciate!), it only tells the girls' story.
The DVD looks very good, with an excellent transfer of the film (although I noticed some scratches running down the right side of the frame in the early scenes!).
I'm glad I finally saw HEAVENLY CREATURES. I'm convinced Peter Jackson is one of our best directors around.

A Just Don't Get Why

I am old enough to have experienced musicals from "The Sound of Music", "West Side Story" and others the first time around. I too watched the new musical, "Moulin Rouge" with great expectation and had only disappointment.
Chicago was WONDERFUL!!!! It was creative, sassy, fun and tounge-in-cheek. I loved the play on words and the exciting dance routines. I can't stop playing the soundtrack in my home, in my car or at work. I also can't wait for the release of the DVD so I can enjoy it over and over again.

Thus Must Happen - Seinfeld on DVD must be done

The greatest show ever, must be released on DVD with all the great extras like outtakes, script readings, etc. I will be the first one in the store once Seindfeld is on DVD for all time. I'm really anxious to see all the little jokes and special comedic timing that Jerry Seinfeld is known for that get cut out in syndicated re-runs.

Mariah Carey - Around the World - movie DVD cover picture

Don't think about buying Mariah Carey: Around the world "JUST DO IT"! This dvd is so beautifully arranged. It has all live performances of Mariahs biggest hits taken from all over the globe. Get down to such hits as "Honey", "Dreamlover" and "Fantasy" then cool down a little with magnificent ballads as "Whenever you call", "I still believe" and "I'll be there" also you can't go past "Hopelessly devoted to you" with special guest Olivia Newton-John. This dvd also contains a complete discography, biography, 3 languages (english, french and spanish), lyrics and 4 videos: "My all", "Butterfly", "Breakdown" and "The roof". As the first dvd I have ever brought, I recommend it to any massive mariah fan cause "It's all that and more". Good quality and quantity.

Dawn of the Dead (Widescreen Unrated Director's Cut) - movie DVD cover picture
Suprisingly great remake!

Set after the events to the 1990 version of " Night of the Living Dead", the dead have risen from their graves by a mysterious plague and are attacking the living. A group of human survivors hide out in a shopping mall for a place to stay for a while from the horrors outside waiting for them.
Brilliant re-make of the 1979 George Romero zombie classic with better acting and better looking zombies ( ala, no greyish looking ones). This time the zombies are not slow walking like in the original, but more running and energetic just like the ones from " Return of the Living Dead", dark humor and there is plenty of super gore effects in this one just like in the original.
My advice see this remake, it's definitely alot of fun and worthy of being a great zombie movie just like the one influential zombie movie that started the zombie craze and it's a good remake just like the 1990 version of " Night of the Living Dead".
P.S.: Look for two stars of the original classic Tom Savini and Ken Forree making cameo appearences.(...)
