Office Space (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Oh! Oh! Oh!

Office Space, starring Ron Livingston and Jennifer Aniston and directed by Mike Judge (the creator of Beavis and Butthead), is indeed a very funny comedy about work and how boring it could be. For a straight hour and a half you'll be treated to a pure helping of jokes, each which will succeed in making you laugh. With pure Beavis and Butthead humor, Mike Judge's comedy is a winner and deserves to be seen by all comedy fans. Featuring a good cast that includes Stephen Root and John C. McGinley, Office Space is a comedy that you must go out and rent now! Satisfaction guaranteed.
Ron Livingston plays a character named Peter Gibbons, a computer guy who works at a company called Initech. He has eight bosses so every time he makes the smallest mistake, he is commented eight times. After several incidents, Peter becomes stressed and decides to go for therapy. When he comes out he decides not to go to work and start enjoying his life. He tries to spend more time with his girlfriend (Aniston, The Good Girl) and only comes to work to wreck stuff and play games on his computer. However, this attitude lands him a promotion and some of his partners get fired. Anxious for revenge, Peter and his partners decide to perform a scam to steal money from this computer company. Every time the company transfers money, they will get a fraction of every penny. However, instead of the fraction of a cent they're supposed to get, they wind up with over 350,000 dollars. Now, they must figure out away to get themselves out of this situation and not get Gibbons fired.
I won't wreck the ending for you but this truly is a great comedy. The performances are satisying. Ron Livingston, who we don't see much these days, gives a very good performance as Peter and Jennifer Aniston provides us with a good performance as a waitress and Peter's girlfriend. John C. McGinley (starring now in the TV show Scrubs) gives a star-making performance as one of Peter's bosses and there are several cameos by people such as Orlando Jones. The movie is destined to become a comedy classic if people would just not miss it when passing the comedy section at the video store. Maybe it is a bit over-rated but you still got to see it. Mike Judge is simply a comedic genius. The only bad part about it is that it didn't go on. Comedy fans, this is a must for you.A satifying and hilarious comedy!

Magnolia is a Masonic Allegory

For a long time, I had lost all faith in movie-makers. Movies lacked originality, message, and art.
Magnolia is one of the new breed of movies that tells a story with thought, grace, beauty, and sincerity. Along with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Traffic, I am proud to be a movie-goer again.
Rent this, buy it, give it as a gift - tell the movie industry that the public will reward them for a brilliant, creative product.

Breathtaking!

Not as good as Riverdance (Michael Flatley's ego is more involved in this one), this is still an entertaining show. The main fault of this production is the horrible video direction that makes you feel as though you can reach out and lick the feet of the dancers. This should have been shot as a theatrical production and less like a pop video for MTV!

Bon Jovi - The Crush Tour - movie DVD cover picture
They still know how to do it!

The first live concert I went to was a Bon Jovi show. It was the final stop on their US Slippery When Wet tour (Honolulu). I had gone to keep a friend company. Needless to say, I was hooked, and a die hard fan ever since. Aside from "An Evening With Bon Jovi", which was more of a toned-down, MTV affair, I have been waiting for years for the definitive Bon Jovi live video. The wait is over!
The guys cover most of their biggest hits, as well as some of their future hits too. I was reading an interview with Richie Sambora, and he had said that they don't really rehearse for tours anymore. For the Crush tour, they rehearsed a total of four (4!) days. From watching this vid, you can tell that these guys define the term 'Road Warriors'. Each knows how to work the crowd, and they always know where the others are and what they are doing. True professionals. As I watched the opening number, 'Living on a Prayer', I couldn't believe that it's been almost fifteen years since this song was released. It has stood the test of time. Their other songs are just as timeless, if not moreso. "Wanted.." is to my generation what "Stairway to Heaven" is to the generation before mine...a bookmark for a period in our lives when all did was play air guitar and rock out.
Granted, the boys aren't as youthful as I remember them. In "Wanted Dead or Alive", Jon reminds me more of Woody from Toy Story than a road-weary rocker, but I think that serves as a testament to their longevity more than to hurt their credibility. Aside from Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones, can you name another band that has gone out and toured and toured for almost two decades? (The Eagles don't count because they only did it once, and solely for the money.)
As for the disc itself, I was impressed with the video quality, and the editing. The director was able to catch the electricity of being front row center at a Bon Jovi concert, while also allowing us to see what goes on backstage, behind the drum riser, behind the keyboards, etc. This concert is in letterboxed format, and overall color and transfer is excellent.
The audio is Dolby Digital 5.1, although it seems as though the disc defaults to Dolby Surround 2.0. The 5.1 presentation is very good, putting you in the center of the crowd. It is laid out with the vocals taking center channel, guitar mid-left, and keyboards mid-right along with upper-range bass guitar. The crowd noise takes the rear surrounds along with ambient noise from the stage. The sound on this disc blends so well, that it's a case of "close your eyes....you're there".
The extras on this disc are comprised of a 30-minute behind the scenes, and the videos for "It's My Life" and "Say It Isn't So". As a sidenote, Bon Jovi pioneered the concert performance video back in the 80s. They were damn good at it. I just wished that they could have stayed with the formula for these two videos, which do contain live performance footage, but only against the backdrop of other action in the video. But I digress...
Bottom Line: If you are a die hard BJ fan, this decision is a no-brainer. If you enjoy high-energy stage shows with lots of audience participation, familiar hits, and gobs of nostalgia, drop the Andrew Jackson and pick this disc up.

The movie kicked major @$$

The movie "187" was the best movie I've ever seen. I love it. I watch it all the time. The whole subject of the movie is really good because the movie actually was based on a true story, which is good and can teach people that stuff like that is really happening and makee everyone aware of the violence and the drug use in the world. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE JOHAN ROONEY(Stevie Littleton)IN MORE MOVIES BECAUSE HE IS SO FINE AND I LOVE WATCHING HIM ACT,HE'S VERY FUNNY!!!! Rent 187 I am sure you will like it and find it very exciting and a great movie.

It was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it was very well done. Travolta never fails to be the best bad guy ever and the lead actor did the best job as Frank Castle. As a comic book fan and collector for over 13 years now, I gotta say I was a little worried it wouldn't hold up since there would be no powers and super hero stuff in it. I was pleasantly surprised. Not one moment during this did it let down. The action was aplenty and spread out just right, the acting couldn't have been better, and there was just the right amount of comedy to keep things from getting too monotonous. I can't believe i'm going to say this, but....It really was better than spider-man. Marvel just keeps putting out some great ones!Now........let's see Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, and Iron Man. Those would be great!

Black Sheep finally hits DVD

Baa Baa Black Sheep was a short-lived NBC show that has finally been released on DVD, or at least part of it. Marine Corps pilot Major Greg "Pappy" Boyington is fed up with his desk job in the rear area. He puts together a squadron of misfits and screwballs and with stolen planes makes a base for the 214, the Black Sheep Squadron. Loosely, very loosely, based on the real exploits of Pappy Boyington and his Black Sheep, this is a great DVD to watch. Plenty of action with some great aerial footage, although some is used repeatedly, and just enough comedy to keep the mood light. Robert Conrad is great as Maj. Greg "Pappy" Boyington, the unlikely hero and leader of the Black Sheep. Simon Oakland and Dana Elcar star as General Moore and Colonel Lard, two of Boyington's superior officers. The squadron includes James Whitmore JR, Dirk Blocker, WK Stratton, Robert Ginty, Tony Aresco, John Larroquette, Larry Manetti, and Jeff MacKay. The Volume One DVD includes the two-hour pilot, The Flying Misfits, the next ten episodes, and a 7-minute interview with Greg Boyington and Robert Conrad which aired in 1976 as the show premiered.

1. "The Flying Misfits"- Major Boyington puts together a squadron of figther pilots with pilots kicked out of other squadrons.

2. "Best Three Out of Five"- Headquarters sends an officer to take over the Black Sheep.

3. "Small War"- Pappy is accidentally shot down over a Japanese-held island.

4. "High Jinx"- The Black Sheep believe a new pilot is a jinx.

5. "Prisoners of War"- The Black Sheep discover they have much in common with a Japanese pilot in their keep. Best episode of the bunch.

6. "Presumed Dead"- A brainwashed American pilot is picked up by the Black Sheep.

7. "The Meatball Circus"- The 214 uses Japanese planes to bomb a Japanese aircraft carrier.

8. "Up For Grabs"- Japanese commandoes take over Vella La Cava in hopes of kidnapping General Douglas MacArthur.

9. "Anyone for Suicide?"- Pappy volunteers the 214 for a suicide mission behind enemy lines.

10. "New Georgia on My Mind"- The Black Sheep must share their base with paratroopers preparing for a mission.

11. "The Cat's Whiskers"- Pappy thinks up an impossible mission in hopes of escaping a court martial.

It's great to see these episodes and hopefully the rest of the series is put on DVD soon.
