David Bowie is a King!

Labyrinth is a masterpiece! It caused me to have a crush on David Bowie that will not go away!

Sarah gets frustrated that she is always watching her baby brother and wishes that he would disappear to the Goblin City. Her wish comes true and she then gets a crystal ball from Goblin King (Bowie) and has so long to find Toby (her brother). During Sarah's adventure she encounters many personalities that are interesting and also frustrating to her journey. Hoggle is Sarah's biggest help in the end and he helps Sarah along the path and gets punished for his act. There is a lot of great music in this movie (soundtrack is recommended) and you get caught up in the fantasy of this movie! I have loved it since I saw it as a kid in the 80's and continue to love it as strongly as I did then! I recommend this for anyone who likes fantasy movies!

Check out Prisoner! Great movie!

When I was in my second semester in college, I took an acting class. For my final, I had to perform as Mel Edison in Neil Simon's The Prisoner of Second Avenue. Upon taking the role, I decided to watch the film to learn a little bit more about my character and the supporting ones. Well, I was absolutely amazed. The Prisoner of Second Avenue is one of my favorite films of all time. It stars Jack Lemmon as an aging businessman who looses his job, as well as his mind. Along the way, his wife, played by Anne Bancroft, is the only one who can "splash the water" in his face and tell him things will be ok. The movie is an amazing display of acting talent. Mr. Lemmon was really screwed by the Academy. He wasn't even nominated! I feel that this is one of his best performances. Everything about the film, from the cast to the plot was great. I also think the music score by Marvin Hamlisch is one of his best! Too bad this film is so overlooked. Lets hope for a DVD release soon! After seeing this film for the first time, I knew I would have a ball playing the character of Mel Edison. Of course, I couldn't come close to Jack Lemmon's portrayal.

GREAT!! EXTREMELY FUNNY!! SNOWBOARDING!!!

Out Cold is (of course in my opinion) on of the greatest movies. It is a raunchy, funny, and amazing movie about a group of snowboarders. It has 2 of the best things in life, snowboarding and humor. No doubt you should get this video if you like snowboarding and raunchy humor.

Criterion releases the best DVDs in the business. This one is full as they can be, everything is here. As far as the film is concerned, it is great. The story is well written by Anderson and Owen Wilson. But what really brings this story to live are the performances of Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Olivia Williams. This is on of Bill Murray's funniest roles, and he does it with such grace and ease. The music in this film fits the mood of the film better than any other film I've ever seen. This is a great follow up to Bottle Rocket for Wes Anderson. I'm looking foward to his next project and am sure it'll be just as great. THAT'S IT, I'M DONE!

A SENSATIONAL FRIGHTFEST

SLEEPY HOLLOW is an incredible achievement. It succeeds on every level: script; acting; direction; fx; and, to me, most importantly, MOOD! Tim Burton has always had fantastic moods in all of his films. The forest scenes make you feel like a child again when you were scared of what "lurked" out THERE! The script builds and fleshes out the classic Irving fable with a detailed depiction ofthe creation of the headless horseman. Johnny Depp gives a fine restrained and subtle performance. (He's always so dependable for good acting.) Christopher Walken is a masterstroke in casting as the headless one. One of my favorites, Jeffrey Jones, again contributes a fine job. Once more Icannot give enough credit to the set design and FEEL of this film. Watch this with the lights out!

A Samurai is Born- TOO GOOD FOR WORDS

The first time i saw this cartoon i was instantly hooked. The dvd was a great refresher for me. It is the story of a samurai that is trying to defeat a great evil name 'Aku'. His home town is raided by this evil and he must protect his family, just as he's about to defeat Aku, he is cast into the future, and now he's on a quest to get back home and defeat Aku. Anyone would love this dvd. I just can't wait for more Samurai Jack.

THE best comedy Burt Reynolds has ever starred in.

I have watched this movie over and over again on tape and on TV. To me, catching this movie on TV, is like turning the channel over to a baseball game and Mark McGuire is coming to bat. You just got to watch it. Jackie Gleason is perfect as the sheriff and without a doubt he makes the movie with his one-liner cracks. "Look daddy it's a mean old ugly alligator." "That reminds me Jr., I got to call your momma tonight." This is just a great movie and I'm proud to say it's one of my all time favorites.

The Postman - movie DVD cover picture
Experience the impact.

It is unfortunate that critics and many reviewers panned this film because it is one of the most powerful statements about ordinary people who become extraordinary by chance and commitment. "The Postman" shows that communications unite people who are then able to defeat terrorism in the guise of General Bethlehem.
A look through history shows that the "Pony Express" carriers faced dangers such as wild animals, Native American war parties, outlaws, sea voyages, misunderstandings, dehydration across deserts, famine, and disease, but the mail went through. Employees of the U. S. Postal Service today work under the threat of biological, chemical, and probably explosive terrorism, but the mail is still delivered. Communications unify.
David Brin's novel "The Postman" was the basis for the movie. I read the book years ago, and was very disappointed because it was hard to follow and I did not care about any character. The movie was a pleasure. Had this film been released in October 2001, I think it would be a box office hit. However, the complacency in 1997, extremely poor movie trailers, and a few editing errors overshadowed the quality of the film, which I have probably seen twenty times. One scene on the VHS version is missing from the DVD. It is when Costner defeats Patton and the Clan throw down their weapons; DVD shows one man, VHS shows many. I prefer the VHS scene.
Kevin Costner is a wandering Shakespearean performer who acts with his mule Bill, his solo companion as he wanders alone. He is given the name Shakespeare when captured by the militant force that dominates what few settlements have survived the apocalypse. Will Patton's strong performance as General Bethlehem, a man who has killed so often that he has lost his sanity, is Oscar quality.
Costner is the mild ordinary "every man" who is just trying to survive, and this is the reason that we never know his given name. The subtle performance is superb and believable. Costner "restored" the United States government, moved the capital to Minneapolis, and reinstated the postal service through blithe words that coincidentally ignited the idea that it was possible to be free from terrorism.
When the Postman leaves Pineview with the first new mail in years a young girl starts singing "God Bless America." This seemed unreal to me, but since America was attacked on September 11, 2001, there has been a rise in patriotic songs that stir deep emotions. I now think this scene is perfect.
The time line, however, seems unreasonable. Information that was revealed by the characters without showing us how they got the knowledge was edited out, and it is a flaw.
Costner's character grows, as do the people who believe in him. Ultimately, he is the man who "Hands out hope like it is candy in his pocket."
For character development, moving and prescient story, scenery, music, and acting this film is five stars for me.
