Dark, but fabulous

I dont understand why everyone is so down on this season. I think that it is an excellent season. Once More with Feeling and Normal Again are arguably two of the best episodes of the whole series. The extras for Once More With Feeling are excellent. Joss Whedon's commentary is definitely worth listening too. And the behind the scenes is also very interesting. You see all of the work all of the cast and crew put into this episode and it is really amazing. An interesting fact from Whedon's commentary - Something to Sing About was originally a song with Buffy trying to convince Sweet to take her instead of Dawn. The only dialogue Joss kept from "I'm Your Girl" was the part where she reveals to her friends that she was in heaven. I thought that was very interesting.
There is an hour long Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Panel Discussion with James Marsters(who's introduced as James Marster), Michelle Trachtenberg, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Joss Whedon and Marti Noxon that was also very interesting. James was the most talkative of the bunch. The funniest part was when he said that SMG was usually fully clothed during their sex scenes where as he was always wearing a little sock. He then corrected himself and said it was a big sock. He seemed very outgoing. Michelle Trachtenberg kept talking about how she wanted Dawn to be less whiny and more mature. She wanted to wear high heels instead of sneakers, and kick more butt.
It does get pretty racy this season with the whole Spuffy sexcapades. But when has Buffy ever been a kids show? It has always been directed more toward the mature audiences. So I dont really see how anyone can complain about it.
I, myself don't like Buffy and Spike together this season. But I understand why she does it. She just came back from heaven and she needed some comfort. I dont like their relationship(if you can call it that) this season, but I love them together in 7th season even though I am and will forever be a B/A shipper.
This season has the death of my favorite character which leads another character to turn evil. A lot of people hated that story arc, but it is one of my favorites, and it is very inventive.
I love the last scene of Grave where Spike gets a little surprise. It was just the story twist I was waiting for.

The most poignant film of 1999

In 1985, John Irving penned an American classic about a young man's quest for belonging in the world besieged by World War II and self-doubt. The first script adaptations of the novel would have made for a nine-hour movie but being a daring writer, Irving trimmed it down to two hours of human heart and true nature. The result was one of 1999's biggest hits and a Best Picture Oscar nominee. Tobey Maguire stars as Homer Wells, the central character, who has been reared in an orphanage in rural Maine from infancy by a caring doctor named Wilbur Larch (Michael Caine in his superb Oscar-winning performance). For years, Homer has watched and studied the practices of Dr. Larch on pregnant women who either wanted an abortion or refused their babies. When he sees a chance to leave and explore the world on his own, he takes it and begins a self-quest for his true place in the world. Where he finds it is in the last place one would think, but it makes perfect sense once he discovers the true nature behind it. This touching film made me cry in the theater and it's a shame that not more people were willing to see this picture. It only stayed in theaters for about two weeks at a time. The children will steal your hearts and it is the loving performance from Caine that drives the film to its tearful and redeeming finale. Kathy Baker and Jane Alexander are well-cast as the nurses at the orphanage who stand by Dr. Larch no matter how hard things can get for him and his illegal practices. The film does not promote or demote the act of abortion but rather treats it as just a part of the story...and as a fact of life, that it is a woman's choice. Rachel Portman's beautiful and touching music score will move you to tears. Even though it was nominated for an Oscar, it still should have won. The heart of a film can be in its music and that applies here in every way possible. Caine received a standing ovation at the Oscar show when he won for Best Supporting Actor and spent over half his speech time acknowledging the work of his fellow nominees. John Irving also won for his screenplay adaptation of his own novel, the first time a novelist had ever won for adapting his own work for the silver screen since "Dances With Wolves" won for 1990. Outstanding on every level, this film is the pinnacle of the moviemaking industry for the 20th century, as if to offer hope on life and love and the lessons we need for the future, which would start with the 21st century. Don't pass up on this film. It is one of the greatest achievements from Hollywood in recent years.

untold tale of the truth

For those in denial, or for those who were painfully sheltered during those formulative years, this movie will seem slutty and bland. But for those of us in the real world, this speaks for us. Everyone knew a few of the girls - the boy-crazy, the innocent, the party girl, and/or the mother of the group. This is the essential clique within a clique presentation, the battles we had, the outside influences, and how hard it is to hang on to the inner self amid seeming chaos. Brilliant in its unpretentious acting style, this is high school after the plastic has been melted. Admit it.

Excellent movie

Field of Dreams is one of the best movies ever made. You dont expect the ending and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. You think the whole while that he is doing everything for Shoeless Joe only to realize at the end that he was doing everything to get reunited with his father. If the ending of this movie doesn't bring a tear to your eye then you are missing the whole point of this movie. Dreams Can Come True

Treasure Planet - movie DVD cover picture
I've seen it 13 times!!!

Action, adveture, the perfect movie. Disney's Treasure Planet is a Wonderful film, one of my top ten, but maybe I'll tell you about that when I review Snow White, if at all. The movie is based on Robert Louis Stevenston's classic novel, I'm sure we've all read it, I have. Jim Hawkins live with his mother while running the Admiral Benbow Inn. Although his sort-of aligned on the wrong tracks, he know how to handle a solar-surfer. One day while coming back from surfing, a ship crash-lands on the dock near the Inn. An ugly turtle-like alien steps out, along with a chest. Being a kind hearted soul, Jim helps him into the Inn. They find out thai his name is Billy Bones, and is trying to hide from pirates. Knowing that he was dying, he gave Jim two things. A treasure map, and a warning to "beware the cyborg". Grabbing the map and his mother, they ran to the back door to escape, not a second too soon, because pirates then raided the Inn, looking for Bones' map. Jim and his mother escaped to they're good friend's house, named Dr. Doppler. (The friend, not the house). After Jim opened the map, they discovered that it led to treasure, the loot of 1,000 Worlds. Eager to see find it, Dr. Doppler & Jim hire a crew, and they set sail. Jim was to give the captain, Captain Amelia, the map for safe keeping. After that, Jim was named Cabin Boy, and was assigned to work with the ship's cook, John Silver. But Jim was terrified to see that he was a cyborg!! But after getting to know him, Jim decided that this couldn't possibly be the one he was told to look out for. They became fast friends, and became very attached to one another. But after accedentally stumbling onto his plot, Jim runs to the captain to warn her. But it was too late. The mutiny had begun. Trying desperately to get to a life boat, Jim loses the map, only to find that Morph, Silver's pet, had changed it's shape to look like it. But fortunately, none of the pirates knew. Knowing that that disaster had taken place, they were now on Treasure Planet, and Jim was to go and find shelter. On the way, they meet up with B.E.N. (Bio-Electronic Navigator) and he offers them his home. He was marooned by the same pirates, with the most famous, Captain Nathaniel Flint. In the middle of the night, Jim, B.E.N., & Morph set out to go back to the ship, dis-arm the laser-cannons, and get the map. Since all but one sly pirate, Scroop, had been left on the ship, they climbed the anchor's chain up to the top. B.E.N. was given the job of dis-connecting the laser-cannons, Morph to distract Scroop, & Jim would go and get the map. But eventually, Morph and Jim ran into each other, so now that Jim has the map, now he has to get rid of Scroop. Fortunately, B.E.N. while trying to find the right plug to puul, pulled the plug on the artificial gravity, so as jim just bearly grabbed the ship's flag as he was floating upward, Scroop passed him, flinging him into space forever. After B.E.N. finally put the gravity plug in, and the laser-cannon plug out, tthey headed back to camp, only to find that Silver had taken Dr. Doppler & Captain Amelia hostage. Forcing Jim to lead them to the treasure, they set off. They finally found it though, and Silver was filling a life boat of treasure. B.E.N. and Jim found something quite interesting, too. Jim found Captain Flint's skelliton, and B.E.N. found his missing memory chip, which Captain Flint had taken away from him, so long ago. When Jim inserted it, B.E.N. remembered about the booby trap, and the whole planet was going to blow!! ... But Jim will always remember his wonderful adventure on Treasure Planet. Well, that's it. I hope this review has helped you and encourages you to get this DVD. P.S. If you like the movie, buy the games.

Simply magic!

What could I possibly say that would do justice to this masterpiece of modern cinema? Tim Burton expertly blends the creepy and the kooky with a great storyline and excellent characters to acheive a film that can enchant both the young and the old alike. This film is on my top-ten list of all time.

Agent Cody Banks - movie DVD cover picture
For sheer entertainment value, and Hilary Duff!

Let me just get something off my chest. A lot of people seem to dislike Hilary Duff, who appears in this fun kids' spy movie. Just leave her alone! I like Hilary, she's very talented and good-looking and I suspect people knock her through sheer jealousy and lack her talent, so they knock people who DO have talent and waste time on the Web leaving stupid hate messages. GROW UP! Anyway, I disgress. On with the movie review. Frankie Muniz plays Cody Banks, a teenager who is actually a CIA teen spy in a special black project. He is assigned to get to an evil genius played by IAN McSHANE(from the BBC's Lovejoy series) via his daughter Natalie(HILARY DUFF - who was also in CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN and LIZZIE McGUIRE of course, a hottie these days)at an exclusive school. However, in spite of his great abilities as a spy, Banks just CANNOT chat up girls as well as Austin Powers. Ha! He learns that said genius is manipulating nanotechnology to his own means to take over the world(well what else?) and tracks him to his secret hideaway in the Cascade montains. You will surely guess the ending, however you will have fun watching this movie. Not just for the gags(particularly the obviously crude overcrowding of the surveillance van one and the obvious result), and Banks's poor chat up methods and how he has to be taught by the CIA to chat up girls, but watch out for the announcement about a silver Aston Martin at CIA HQ(actually filmed at a university outside Vancouver), Cody Banks's driving lessons at school, Hilary Duff in a school uniform(!!!), the SPY KIDS knock off gadgets, the well-executed opening and some eye-candy setpieces. Although it received a 12(our version of PG-13) certificate here in the UK, it is a great film for the famly to watch and is very suitable for kids in spite of some minor sexual references. Kids will also love the gadgets and action scenes. It was successful enough to spawn a sequel, which also is a plus point. Fine famly entertainment as well as being a laugh for those of us who love cheesy movies.
