DVD is within specified parameters

I've noticed that there are basically two groups of Star Trek fans: TNG and TOS. If you don't use your brain during the day that much because of your job or you don't ponder questions of morality and humanity in your own time and you want to stimulate that part of your brain using a science fiction tv show, then you go watch TNG. But If you're smart or just plain genius and you use your brain all the time and ponder issues of morality and philosphy on your own time and you just want to come home and enjoy watching a science fiction show with good (or amusing if TOS) science fiction elements, great characters, clever story, and be completely entertained, then you go watch TOS. Voyager is more akin to TOS. It has the same fun-to-watch factor as TOS, but with better special effects. If you're a 2001:Space Odyssey/Titanic type of person (yawn), then you'll like TNG better. If you're more of a Star Wars:New Hope/Raiders of the Lost Ark type of person, then you'll like Voyager better. Although, TNG does has some good episodes. Being a fan of Star Trek, I'll probably get the TNG series also. But collect this one first. It's more fun!

this town's gonna rise again... yee haw!

Awesome classic splatterfest from the creator of the genre, HG Lewis. Considering it came out in the 60s, this is very graphic and pretty entertaining. Story concerns a southern town that was wiped out during the civil war but their ghosts have made it an annual celebration to capture northern folks and brutally kill them for fun and payback. I recommended this movie for connoseuirs of b movies/low budget horror and hilarious splatter. Also see Blood Feast and Wizard of Gore. Tasty!

Sailor Victory A Blast!!

With excellent music and animation, Sailor Victory is a great purchase despite the fact that it is a member of the much overused teenaged-girls-get-giant-mecha category. In this series five young women get three giant mecha to use against an evil lady, named Margurite, who is determined to destroy their town. Will Sailor Victory save the day? You'll have to watch to find out.

Very good DVDs

I am from Germany. When I was on vacation in the USA, I saw the TV Show Cops. Unfortunately the show is not shown in Germany. When I found out that the show as DVD appears, I bought all three DVDs. I find the show better than all action movies.

Shows what a master craftsman can do on a small budget

When Stanley Kubrick was making Killer's Kiss, he was only 26. At this time, he was still writing his own stories and post-dubbing his films. However, though many Kubrick fans dismiss this film as an early effort, I consider it to be one of his great films. The plot is simple (and the story of a boxer borrows heavily [in both plot and imagery] from his first film, a documentary called Day of the Fight [1951]) and concise (at 64 minutes, it is his shortest feature-length film), but packs a punch that transcends his career.
Davey Gordon is a has-been boxer who still fights, but rarely wins. Across the street, lives a girl by the name of Gloria Price. Gloria is disillusioned and pessimistic (her sister, Iris [played in flashback by Kubrick's second wife, Ruth Sobotka] committed suicide on the same day her father died) and dancer with men for money. Her boss, Vincent Rapallo is desperately in love with her, but, when he advances on her in her apartment, she screams and Davey runs to help her. They fall in love and decide to move away to live with Davey's family. However, when Gloria goes to collect her check from Vincent, Vincent tells his thugs to beat up Davey, who is waiting outside. However, when Davey runs after some Shriners who steal his scarf, the thugs beat and kill Davey's manager, Albert, who was scheduled to meet Davey. Davey is framed and Gloria has been kidnapped. Davey confronts Rapallo, who takes him to Gloria, but Davey is knocked unconscious by the thugs. When he recovers, he sees Gloria trying to get Rapallo to spare her but leading him on. Depressed, Davey escapes by jumping out a window. A chase ensues, leading up to a brutal fight between Davey and Rapallo in a mannequin factory...
The movie itself contains many elements that Kubrick will utilize in his later films. One is Davey's dream sequence, which mimicks the Star Gate sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Another is the mannequin fight between Davey (with a long poker) and Rapallo (with an axe), with is very similar to the fight between Spartacus (with a Thracian knife) and Draba (with a trident and net) in Spartacus (1960). As said before, both the preparation for the boxing match and the fight itself are direct recreations of sequences from Day of the Fight (1951). Also previously mentioned is the post-dubbing, which caused Irene Kane (Gloria Price) to be completely dubbed over by another woman when she got tired of repeating her lines over and over again. Irene later became TV journalist Chris Chase and had a brief cameo in All That Jazz (1979). Frank Silvera (Vincent Rapallo) was the star of Kubrick's first feature, the rare Fear and Desire (1953).
All in all, this is a marvelous film. You will get swept up in the plot itself, and Kubrick's camera, as always, is right on track, capturing emotion and drama at the same instant. Upon viewing this film, one is able to clearly see that Kubrick, who went on to so much better, was destined for fame from the start.

Great ghost story/murder mystery.

A young boy witnesses the ghostly reinactment of a murder then has a run-in with the murderer who almost kills him as well. His near-death experience seems to link him to the murder victim (a young girl) who asks him to help her find her mother.
As the story unfolds there are lots of little twists and turns before everything comes together at the end. There is suspense & mystery mixed in with everyday events. It is surprisingly well done. The only complaint I have is that there are parts of this film that are over the top but, overall, this is a well-done mystery/ghost story.

The Biggest Horror Movie Event of 2003!

This movie has a little bit of everything! It is one of the greatest horror movies of all time! Go and see it in the movie theater before it comes out on Film! Great special effects! It has to be the goriest out of them all! Freddy comes back and has more funny lines to say! Jason did good and is silent as usual. He did [destroy] alot of people though! It had an awesome ending! I won't give it away.Gore: Lots of blood flowing! Impalings, Beheadings, and they were all very realistic! Cut in half body, ... arms, legs, etc! This was a great MOVIE!!

Brilliant filmmaking

If the reviews posted here aren't enough to get you out of your chair to see this film, than I cannot guess what is. Justin Lin is a filmmaker to look out for in the future. He has accomplished what so many Hollywood vets attempt to do, which is tell an accomplished, entertaining and successful story with style. Everything about the filmmaking here (script, photography, the finely calibrated performances, Lin's camera style) is brilliant. In my opinion, this is the most astonishing and brilliant American debut film since Spike Jonze's Being John Malkovich. There is too much plot and story to cover here, so I will just say this: I cannot wait to see what Mr. Lin will do next. He now has a brand new fan.

Amazing, Emotionally charged Drama/Adventure

I found "The Perfect Storm" riveting from start to finish, and truly believable. The charecterizations were interesting in my opinion and I thought very adequate for this type of film.
There were truly great scenes out on the sea, it was very realistic, you almost feel as if you are in the boat with the crew.
I found the characters very likeable and believable, and Clooney was better than I have ever seen him. It is almost an old fashioned type of film as far as story goes.
I was very surprised by the ending and find the film a haunting one, and a must own. It was truly excellent.
