DON'T miss out on this movie!!!

B quality movie? Nah. I agree that this movie is not what we all expected it to be. But that does not mean that it is not one of the greatest pieces ever composed! It is even better than the "sequel" to the Sixth Sense that we all were anticipating. RWA, I simply do not understand your accusations against Gibson and Phoenix. Both give outstanding performances; their expressions and reactions are very believable, and the children cast for this movie are absolutely wonderful! I can't tell you how nice it is to see some kids who don't act like their acting! Night is astounding. Every movie he pushes out gets better and better. At first I thought I was overrating him, wanting him to be good and in turn making him out to be good in my mind. But I have come to learn that if you do not at least appreciate this work, you are simply too shallow to absorb the beautiful overtones of this wonderful movie. Bravo, Night. Bravo.

QUANTITY and QUALITY!! what a package!!!

The band is strong here. I've watched them live during this tour, and I must say that I did not miss Halford one second, because I've never watched the band play with him.
In this DVD, they are relaxed and confident, after all they're playing at their country (England - altough Travis and Owens are Americans). Very good track list.

First-Rate Performance of a First-Rate Opera

I can't tell you how much this opera surprised me. The review has it right: Attila has been unjustly neglected. Surely this is because the title role is for a barritone rather than the more popular tenor or soprano voice. Nevertheless, Samuel Ramey is fantastic and Muti is in total command of the orchestra. They fully win over the notoriously demanding La Scala audience. Bottom-line: The music and performances are beautiful. Get this DVD and enjoy.

One of the best series ever!

Writer/creator Aaron Sorkin and director Thomas Schlamme went on to develop NBC's "The West Wing" during the second season of this wonderful series.
From the beginning, ABC had no clue of how to handle this show. First, they insisted that the producers ad a laugh track, because you don't know when to laugh. Then, they started to promote it like a soap opera, because it had serious issues to deal with at times.
Ultimately, the quality of the show came through. A fabulous cast provided excellent performances. Josh Charles ("A Few Good Men") and Sabrina Lloyd ("Sliders") are the MVPs here, consistently giving the show it's heart. Peter Krause ("Six Feet Under"), initially stiff in his "on air" role as Casey McCall, settled in well mid-first season.
The real gem here is Robert Guilamme ("Benson"), his Issac Jaffe is an excellent character brought to life with his gentle touch. Guilamme's real-life stroke was written into the series, and when he returned in the second season made for some wonderful moments and sly dialogue delivered by the veteran actor.
If you've not yet experienced this series, you may want to catch a rerun on late night Comedy Central. But, I whole-heartedly endorse adding this DVD set to your personal collection.

This is a GREAT Craven film! As an early effort on a shoestring budget this film does what alot of horror films dont, it scares you!!! Its a "could happen" type of film and brings it home with some disturbing scenes etc. If you are a fan of films like the "texas chainsaw" series or "Wrong Turn" then you'll eat this one up.

Police Academy 6 - City Under Siege - movie DVD cover picture

This is basically the same cast line up as 1988's Police Academy 5 - Assignment: Miami Beach except Officer "House" Conklin isn't here and accident causing Sgt. Fackler makes his return with a bang...literally. The rest of the classic gang (minus Mahoney, of course) are all here: Lassard, Hightower, Hooks, Callahan, Motormouth Jones, and of course Tackleberry! This is the one where they go after the 3 goofy robbers and their "mastermind". I think the only people who give Police Academy 6 bad reviews just don't like these movies because this one is filled with memorable moments. In defense of how funny the movie is and in case you forgot, here is a list of many moments of hilarity that take place in City Under Siege:
1. Tackleberry shoots the milk carton in his Dad's hand2. Hooks yells at the uppity guy after giving him all those citations and having his car towed3. Callahan working out!4. Fackler knocks a lit cigar into a box of fireworks5. Hightower slams his hand down on a table sending Tackleberry's grenade onto Capt. Harris' car6. Hooks & Hightower rap7. Jones does Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Lee, & the Terminator
Let's not forget those classic Harris & Proctor moments:1. Proctor sings Christmas songs & Harris misses the robbery2. Harris gets glued to his chair3. Harris & Proctor go undercover as window washers4. Harris & Proctor go undercover as armored car security5. Harris and the exploding dye pack
The list goes on! What more evidence do you need? These movies are great. Very glad to see they're all making it to DVD finally. A 7 pack set will be available...I highly recommend picking one up!

The best book made into the best movie!

this was seriously one of the best movies that i've ever seen. I am a huge fan of the book, and when i watched the movie i loved the way the didnt alter the lines at all. The acting was so good i felt like c. thomas howell was really ponyboy and i was experiancing the life of a "greaser". I honestly dont think the acting could have gotten better, or that the director could have picked a better cast. This deserves its 5 star rating!

One of the best...

We've all seen this movie before. It's been done in different styles and with different talents, but the underlying roots are recycled and not-so-original. But if you can push that away, "Tears of the Sun" comes off as an overall decent film that manages to entertain one way or another.
Bruce Willis plays a Navy S.E.A.L. Lieutenant who leads a band of men into war-torn Africa to extract an American doctor (Monica Bellucci) and a nun and a priest. When they arrive at the doctor's "mission," she refuses to leave her people behind. Willis disobeys direct orders from the big man on the carrier (Tom Selleck), and tells her she can bring them along to the extraction point. When they arrive, she realizes he lied to her. Feeling sorry for the Africans, Willis allows her to bring 12 people along. Skip forward a few chapters on your DVD player, and you'll see that they are being tracked by African soldiers on a rampage. If they don't make it out by a few days, they'll all be dead.
Monica Bellucci's Dr. Kendrix is a whiny, arrogant person. Willis' character saves her life and disobeys direct orders many times. Just for her. But she still whines. One thing that got me was when Willis tells her they must keep moving because of enemy troops hot on their trail, but she says "We've been walking for thirty hours! We need rest!" Well, excuuuuuse me, but the stinkin' people wouldn't even BE THERE if it wasn't for Willis disobeying direct orders. Something's better than nothing, lady. But oh well, it's just a movie.
Bruce Willis gives a fairly good lead in the film, but I can't help but feel that he seems tired. Maybe it's a sign of a great actor enveloping his weathered old S.E.A.L. LT. Or maybe it's just a tired-out actor. Time will tell. I suppose he'll be sleeping by the time "Die Hard 4: Die Hardest" starts filming.
Monica Bellucci is a good choice for this film, mainly because she doesn't seem like someone who wouldn't be in Africa. I can't imagine what it would look like if, say, Willis had to rescue some beauty queen. "Stop running--I broke a nail!" Unlike films where the leading lady is running through stormy locations and still comes out with her hair-doo intact, Bellucci's hair becomes greasy and sweaty and her clothes get dirty. It's a bit more realistic than a film like this usually tries to be. Kudos there.
But in the long run, "Tears of the Sun" is nothing extraordinarily special. It's good, and entertaining, but wait till video to see it. It's not worth flying out to the theater for. Although, as I write this, the film is already out on VHS and DVD. I guess I just got a late screening on this one.
