Cry for justice from beyond the grave

in order for people who have not seen this to better understand it, i will compare it to two recent films, bowling for columbine and schindlers list. this is what schindler's list would have been if spielberg wasn't too busy trying to make people think how sad the events were. and whereas bowling for columbine helped people understand what is going on and pushed them on the path to discovering the truth, this film MADE you see and MADE you understand.TF Mous, the director, does a very impressive job of keeping the film from wandering dangerously into the area of exploitation, allowing the script to clearly get across its reason for existing. this film is the accusations that the victims of squadron 731 were never able to make, this is the bloodied finger pointing at the murderers of 3000 people for the sake of death. but then schindler's list did the same thing didn't it? it did....but it made the occurrence safe, they were distanced from us, everything was black and white (both visually and symbolically), it was safe in the past and it couldn't hurt us. man behind the sun does not allow us this safety, it shows us how well this was hidden from everybody, it shows how it is clearly tied to our present, it gives us a first person view into the sickness that man is capable of. in part, it does that by becoming part of the sickness, it is not afraid to get its hands dirty in order to make us understand, which lends it even more power. real corpses are used in several sequences, for a child's autopsy, for the decompression of a man. and there are scenes of animal torture (although the famous rats eating live cat scene is not real, the rats are obviously just licking the cat and the blood is clearly just poured on while the cat is probably drugged causing it to slow down and appear dead), clearly showing that nothing is safe from man when he allows himself to see everything as an object. another thing which makes this so applicable is its connection to America and our modern world. the events in the film are real. and the man at the centre of it all was later picked up by American intelligence and given immunity in return for handing over everything he had learned and coming to work for them. i believe it was called Operation Paperclip. and a hell of a lot of modern medical technology came from the horrific events depicted in the film. and i don't think i need to go into any detail discussing the way prisoners of war are used and abused.....*cough cough*... this is an intelligent, and very very honest film. it is horrific, and most people would be incapable of seeing it. but it is something that people should know about. there is not much we can do anymore about making the world a better place, but we must always strive to know what is going on, to never let our heads be shoved into the sand either by ourselves or the people who supposedly protect us. my only complaint with this film is the god awful sub-titles which often don't even bother translating stuff, which does make comprehension of what is occurring difficult at times, but that is no fault of the films.

Great Performance!!

I loved this dvd better than the others of 'NSync's. With Madison Square you here all the little kiddies screaming the whole time. With this one they finally wised up and quieted the kiddies down in the sound. Thumbs up all the way. I will always be an 'NSync fan.

Really Beautiful!

David (Keir Dullea) and Lisa (Janet Margolin) are beautiful, sweet, and sad in this strange mental drama. David's brooding truly broke my heart. And Lisa's innocence filled it up again. Together they seemed like one whole (slightly 'off') person. This story is about love. About loving yourself when the world doesn't see your insides.
Really beautiful. And David's Dreams were spectacular!

Excellent, Excellent

I didn't really like the Ranma 1/2 OVAs and movies that I seen, but I decided to give the TV series a try anyway. I'm glad I did, because this is great. The video is good for a TV series, and both the English and Japanese voice actors are great. For once, I didn't mind watching the dub. The menu loads quickly, and it has some very good animation. The only problem with the set is that Pioneer didn't strain themselves thinking up extras. All it contains is creditless openings and endings. Oh well, at least the songs are subtitled, and the episode previews were left in.
This is the first season of Ranma 1/2. It contains 18 half-hour episodes, of which 1 consists mostly of clips from earlier episodes. However, the other 17 are excellent. Please note that it's four discs, not five. Also, the box says that it is region 1 encoded, not 'ALL'.
Ranma and his father travel to china to train in the martial arts. While there, they are cursed. From now on, whenever cold water is tossed on them, Ranma will turn into a girl, and his father will turn into a panda. This causes problems because Ranma is engaged to marry another girl! A host of other characters soon show up to kill and/or marry Ranma. The plot is too complex to really explain, but sufficient to say, the series involves a lot of martial arts fights and romantic comedy. It's defiantly worth a look.

This movie actually made me......sad...

Hey, this movie could make jerry lewis cry...i don't want to spoil one miniscule detail of the movie to you,so ill just say this:The acting was some of the best you'll see.Tom Hanks was brilliant. The relationships that develop between characters is really good. And, it's funny how they manage some funny jokes into such a sad and dark movie. They do this without making it some half funny/half sad, they keep the gloomy mood with a light remark every once in a while to brighten things up.I think this movie would appeal to all audiences.but it's not the kinda thing you want little jimmy and christina to see:)

Fantastic movie! :o) Anyone who loved the first, would love the second all the more. With the male hormones out and about, through all their mistakes you laugh and laugh. I have watched this movie many more times... it is one that you can watch over and over and always notice something new. I would reccomend this to anyone with a sense of humor who isn't a "prude" :o)

Though I don't work in an office environment, I still have to put up with idiots everyday. This movie is right up my alley. This movie plays on current stereotypes and cubicle horror stories to make you laugh until you wet yourself (and I almost did). I bought this movie for my father as a birthday present becasue he does slave away in a cubicle and hates his idiot boss. However, amidst all the coffee and desperation, most of the jokes could be expected a mile away, but that didn't stop me from watching it again and again.

Amazing Movie! Great Extras!

The Hulk stands out as one of the finest movies based on a superhero ever. The special effects are top notch, and the movie captures the feel of the early Hulk comics perfectly. Eric Bana captures the emotionally detached Bruce Banner perfectly, and Sam Elliot pulls in a fine performance as General Thunderbolt Ross. The Hulk effects are amazing. ILM took a twelve foot man and made him seem real, all with CGI. Yes, the character looks unreal, most 12 foot tall green men would. The extras help sell this DVD. The behind the scenes features are hilarious, especially watching Ang Lee himself act out the Hulk scenes in a motion capture suit. Comic enthusiasts will also enjoy a scene-for-scene comic version of the Hulk's transformation. All in all, this movie is well worth purchasing.
