I highly recommend this movie

A true classic in animation. I watched this movie several times as a child and have been searching video stores forever tying to find it. This film, as they say, is not intended to be wholesome family viewing, but if your looking for a killer anim, this is it!!

My 7 month old loves this!

He loves watching these videos. We also have Baby Mozart and Baby Bach. He's 7 months old now and has been been watching this since he was about 1 month old. When my wife or I put on this or Baby Mozart in he starts bouncing up and down and gets very excited. It has also been very useful at times when he's fussy and can't get comfortable we'll put this in and he sits, relaxes, and watches it.
I read some posts criticizing the quality of it, and yes, to an adult it seems pretty stupid and we will care more about timing of music to action. But, to my son and other babies we know, they just love it! This is a good one to start with in the collection. Baby Mozart has a couple of parts in it where it may frighten the baby because of the loud noise and the puppet going "BLAH". The first time my son watched it, he almost jumped out of his swing, but didn't cry. My wife and I love these products.

Very Funny!

A great story and script make this a wonderful movie to see. Jack Lemmon falls in love with Irma, a streetwalker played by Shirley MacLaine. To keep her off the streets, he begins to work four to five jobs at night to pose as a wealthy English lord. Of course things don't quite work out as he would like. Very funny movie by Billy Wilder, the same director as "Some Like It Hot".
A must see.

A Gore Fest Yet Wonderfully Intertaing

This movie was filled with gore and lots of violence. This movie is by far the goriest or violent movie ive ever seen. We get chopped off limbs, decapitations, There is one part in this movie, which was quite a funny part. IN the begining, a young women fights with a knife with another yound women. Thus making a rucus, than, when a young girl walks in the door, being one ot their daughters, they hide the knifes behind their backs and claim that they were cleaning up a mess from their "dumb A*& dog". Than, the young girl goes upstairs to her room and we see Uma Thurman violently throw a knife into the young womens chest. Than, in another scene, we see a young women, Lucy Liu, run across the table to an older man and with her sword, remove his head in a violent fashion. Than, a fountain of red blood spurts up from the stump of the head. Lucy Liu than holds up the head, revealing some of the mans veins and talks to the rest of the people about talking back to her.Uma Thurman than goes on a killing spree, decapitating many people and leaving many people limbless. Overall this movie was a gore fest, but a wonderful movie. Uma Thurman is wonderful.

A Wonderful Flick

This is a great movie. It isn't action packed, but it is loaded with humor, real life, and love. The chemistry between the characters Dean (Kurt Russell) and Joanna (Goldie Hawn)is obvious to the veiwer. They really work well together.
Joanna is a rich woman married to a man who is just as selfish as she is. Dean is a poor carpenter raising his four sons by himself. Dean's services are required on Joanna's yacht when it somes to port in his home town. His incounter with Joanna is ammusing and very entertaining as she throws him off her yacht without paying him. Later, she falls off her yacht and is picked up by a garbage barge and returned to Dean's hometown with no memory of her past life. Her selfish husband doesn't claim her, and as an act of revenge Dean does. With no memory of her past she gradually accepts the life of his wife and the mother of his four children.
I truly enjoyed this film, and laughed so hard. You won't be dissapointed.

Crying for A Criminal

I never believed I could cry for a criminal. I always assumed they were in prison because twelve strangers said, "Guilty." The movie, The Visit, took me not only inside of prison walls, it took me inside of the prisoner's heart...a heart most people on the outside never know, not even a father. It took me inside the prisoner's thoughts as he looked at me through my television screen. I felt guilty for my own freedom. I saw in his eyes what I have felt many times, the sadness of a person who deserved more, a person who was not heard, a person who so much begs for freedom but can only look through cold steel bars. This movie gave me a sense of what my freedom really means. Freedom is a choice every day of your life. You don't have to go to prison to be in prison. I cried the tears this man could not part with. This movie is a lesson in life.

A Star-Studded Romp

This should be the ultimate musical, with tremendous performances by Gene Kelly as Gabey, and Frank Sinatra as Chip with Jules Munshin. The girls are Betty Garrett as Hildy,Ann Miller as Claire and Vera-Ellen as Ivy. The singing and dancing is dynamic with the opening sequence (New York New York),Ann Miller's 'Prehistoric Man',Betty Garrett's 'Let's Go To My Place',and Vera-Ellen and Gene Kelly in some of the most ravishing dances, including the 'Day in New York' ballet and 'Miss Turnstiles'.

An Astounding Restoration!

I have yet to see the 'Citizen Kane' disc (which I have heard a lot of good things about), but I will tell you what; this is far and away the best treatment of an older black and white film I have seen as yet on DVD. It almost looks as if it could have been filmed yesterday! The astounding quality leaves any recent VHS releases in the dust - especially the decrepit, well worn old Czech copy which, not all that long ago, was thought to be the only surviving print.
The film itself is very British and quirky and odd, and carries itself off as a spooky mystery most of the way through. Mr. Karloff is mostly in the first ten minutes and last twenty minutes of the film, and it is not a role that gives him too much to do except sport a creepy Ardath Bey-esque makeup job and run around being.....well, ghoulish. Some good vintage black & white horror style graveyard goings on throughout.
But the real highlight here is the DVD itself. For a relatively minor production from what I believe was a low budget film company which was probably filmed on lower grade stock and lacking in the technological advances that the larger studios boasted back in 1933, this is really something. Someone put a lot of care into this restoration and it shows.
No extras to speak of - which may account in part for this disc's remarkable affordability as well. After watching this - especially if you are a vintage horror die hard who has already sat through a few creaky, muffled VHS viewings of this once almost forgotten gem and you have something to compare this fantastic DVD to - any future DVD releases of ANY vintage black and white film will be held to a higher standard. Here's hoping that someday, the original version of 'King Kong' looks as good on DVD!
